  2. Cuban Linx finally lost but he of course still holds the best record overall so it should come as no surprise he is still #1. The big winner this week was teke184 who jumps to a strong #2 after a big week. Edwin MacPhisto also made a big jump back into the Top 10. The most hated man contest is probably AboveAverage484 at this point as he loses again but again isn't hurt much, dropping two spots as he continues to pick well and is now #1 all by himself in correct picks. He actually is tied with Mecca in their BCS rating but Mecca is ranked higher due to having a better record. I've won five in a row but I'm really getting lucky as I drop two spots this week. I suppose the biggest CONTROVERSY~ is UTBroward dropping out of the Top 10 despite winning but I have good news for him and others after the rankings as I will discuss the bowl picture. 1. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 3.0 2. LSU - teke184 3.8 3. Nebraska - Mecca 5.9 4. N.C. State - AboveAverage484 5.9 5. Syracuse - CanadianChris 6.65 6. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 7.1 7. Stanford - Bored 8.05 Others Receiving Votes: Florida State (King), Miami of Ohio (Hawk 34), Rutgers (the pinjockey), Texas (UTBroward) Briefly before I get to the bowls, for the conference championships things are way too up in the air to even bother going over tiebreak scenerios until next week. Cuban Linx and Mecca are the only two who have clinched spots in their respective conferences. Since we are now down to two weeks left in the regular season it is definately time to take a look at the bowl picture. The way it works here is very similar to real life. 7+ wins will guarentee you a bowl, 6 wins will make you eligible but you may have to sweat a little. There are 18 bowl bids all together and every conference has three bowl tie ins but of course there is no guarentee they will all be filled by their conference as both Southeastern Seven and the Pac-8 don't have three bowl eligible teams yet. Here's a breakdown of where everyone who is still alive stands: Locked In Boise State LSU Nebraska South Carolina Stanford Syracuse Texas Eligible Buffalo Florida State Georgia Tech Hawaii Kent State Miami of Ohio N.C. State Oklahoma Virginia On the Bubble Arizona Ball State Michigan Rutgers Temple UCLA USC UTEP Washington Hanging by a Thread Florida Notre Dame Oregon San Diego State Tennessee And as a reminder here's the bowls and their tie ins: Bored Bowl: BCS #1 vs. BCS #2 The Synagogue Bowl presented by Al Jazerra: Pac-8 #1/BCS vs. Big 8 #1/BCS The SWF.com Dust Bowl: BCS vs. BCS Deadspin.com Barbaro Memorial Bowl: SE7 #2 vs. Big 8 #2 Covers.com Degenerate Bowl: WAC #2 vs. Big MAC #2 KFC PETA Bowl: Pac-8 #2 vs. Big 8 #3 ConED Blackout Bowl: SE7 #3 vs. WAC #3 Ex-Lax Toilet Bowl: Big MAC #3 vs. Pac-8 #3 Trent Boyette’s Texas Chili Bowl: At-large vs. At-large If we end up with a scenerio where I can't find a spot for a 7 win team, I would give up my spot or add a 10th bowl.

  4. If this holds up that'll make it LSU at #2 and Oregon at #3 now with both having very good chances at running the table. The wild card in this is Kansas as if you are a "the season is one big playoff" proponent the Jayhawks would have to be in the BCS Championship if they were to finish unbeaten. Of course if they were to beat Missouri and Oklahoma I'd imagine they'd hop LSU and Oregon anyways. And BC is not out of it yet.
  5. Woo hoo saved myself $50! I mean, tough break Cuban.
  6. Come on ESABCPN, give everyone the FSU/BC game already.
  7. Oklahoma State has blown a 21 point lead in the 4th to Texas. UCLA continues to do what they do best, lose to bad teams. This time it is Arizona and now they are not even close to a lock to becoming bowl eligible. They have Arizona State, Oregon, and USC left on their schedule and they need to win at least one.
  8. Even Notre Dame fans should be booing that call. And it doesn't matter in the end. Navy finally does it. Charlie Weis should be fired.
  9. Would you prefer Mangino? Navy takes the lead 28-21 on the Irish. 10:24 away from history.
  10. Jayhawks are still unbeaten and Kansas State loses to the #108 team in the BCS, Iowa State. Slayer is going to need a hug. I'll steal from HarleyQuinn with an FCS update, Rhode Island beat UMass 12-6 in overtime today with all of UMass' points coming from three safties.
  11. Wisconsin, without P.J. Hill, has taken a 17-10 lead on Ohio State in the 3rd.

  15. Bay Area football fans are subjected to God awful 49ers and Raiders football on a weekly basis with rarely another game opposite the other to switch to. We deserve to actually see some good teams play for once.
  16. Didn't matter anyways, we differ on nine games.

  21. As mentioned earlier the ASU/Oregon game will be carried by ESPN after all and it'll be the first Pac-10 conference game televised on ESPN since 1994, although they were already scheduled to show a few games this month. Those in Oregon and Arizona will still get the local telecasts of the game. Big Ten fans though who don't have a satellite dish won't be so lucky this week though as the Wisconsin/Ohio State game will be available on the Big Ten Network only which should just thrill fans from both schools. This week of course is LSU's first game against Nick Saban and Alabama although it's too bad the game isn't in Baton Rouge as it would be a lot more fun but it should be interesting none the less. And finally, is this the year Navy beats Notre Dame? It's a bit of a down year for the Midshipmen but if there was ever a year to beat the Irish this is the one. 22. I haven't found official confirmation of this but I've read in a couple of places that ESPN has worked out a deal to televise the ASU/Oregon nationally after all. It will be blacked out locally since both markets already have local deals in place to televise the game but this is very good news. Weekly thread will be up tonight.
  23. This is my biggest fear as I'm so looking forward to the Giants not only being terrible, which they have been recently, but also being irrelevant next year without Bonds.
  24. Cool, I get those random FCS channels so I'll be able to see the game after all. New BCS Rankings 1. Ohio State 2. Boston College 3. LSU 4. Arizona State 5. Oregon 6. Oklahoma 7. 25. This was actually relatively uneventful Saturday and after all the chaos in the previous weeks I get the feeling we may have a boring November. We're down to only 10 BCS conference teams with one loss or less compared to 18 at this time last year so I think law of averages this past week might be a sign of things to come. Even now in the era of a 12 game regular season and conference championships I still don't see us having the first two loss, post-bowls national champion. Believe me though I would love a two loss champion as it would even further kill the argument that the regular season is one big playoff. Almost made it through October without ranking any three loss teams but as the SEC continues to cannibalize itself I have no other choice. 1. Ohio State 2. Arizona State 3. Boston College 4.
