  1. From what I caught of it, it was more of the same. If you support the war, you probably still do, and if you're opposed to it, Bush really gave nothing to win you over, or presented any kind of solid plan for gradual withdrawal, even if that's what they're claiming.
  2. Exactly...America has a lot of problems right now. Can't we have leadership that takes care of America first, and then worries about the rest of the world? Let the Middle East take care of their own problems from now on.
  3. Yes, 1995 was a gawd awful year for US wrestling in general, notably for WWF. That was probably my least favorite year ever as a fan, and at one point I almost completely stopped watching, sometime after Mabel won the King of the Ring (can you believe he's still getting pushed 12 years later, though?). Anyway, like I mentioned in my original post, business-wise, the WWE isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Anytime business is a little down state-side, they can always run another tour in Europe, or Japan, or India, etc. and draw huge. My main point is how much has gone wrong this year, and there aren't a lot of bright spots on the horizon, other than we can expect more Triple H and Cena. Undertaker is coming back, but should he really be one of their biggest stars at this point? I just think this company needs some kind of kick in the ass, but I have no idea what that could be at this point.
  4. (Put this in the discussion thread, but thought this should have it's own topic) Question: Is 2007 going to go down as the most disastrous year in WWE history? Look at everything that has happened this year: - Chris Benoit kills himself after murdering his wife and son. Huge media coverage ensues. - Drugs scandals become public, and WWE is repeatedly mentioned in a negative light in the media (more so than usual). The Wellness Policy is publicly derided as a joke. - The "Who Killed Vince?" storyline is abruptly aborted, due to the Benoit tragedy. - The current "Who is Vince's bastard son?" storyline has a lousy joke payoff (of course, this could change). - Booker T quits. Ric Flair supposedly threatens to quit. - RVD apparently leaves the company, leaving ECW without their top face. - Marcus Cor Von drops off the face of the planet, while being lined up for a push in ECW. - Pretty much every SNME has had bad ratings, and bad reviews. WWE has basically no mainstream exposure at this point. Ratings for other shows, notably RAW, get to their lowest point in years. - A ton of people are fired, or quit, including a good portion of the ECW roster. Some even while in midst of pushes (Cryme Tyme). - Everyone who wins the World Heavyweight Title ends up injured (Undertaker, Edge). Kennedy also gets injured after being the heir apparent to the title. - Bobby Lashley gets injured in the middle of a huge push. Rey Misterio is out for a good portion of the year with an injury, and is mentioned in the drug scandal. - Triple H gone for much of the year due to injury. - Brian Adams dies and is linked to WWE in the media. - Something like a dozen people are suspended for drug issues. I'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff, but wow, is that a lot of junk that has happened this year, and it's only September. There were some positives, especially at the beginning of the year. You could argue that the Donald Trump angle was a big thing for WWE, but other than that, it seems like a pretty rough year. Sure, they're still making money, but this company seems like it has some serious issues to come to grips with. However, with no company giving them a serious run for their money (maybe if TNA ever gets their act together), it doesn't seem like there will be another "boom period" anytime soon.
  5. (Decided to create separate topic after seeing how long my post was).
  6. I thought he changed to Hak so WCW couldn't copyright the Sandman name, but I could be wrong. It's gotten to the point where it's almost useless trying to enjoy anyone in WWE other than maybe Cena and Triple H. It seems like anyone else is a candidate to quit or get fired, or worse...
  7. I didn't think the Magnificent Seven was a bad idea. Animal kind of worked as a strongman enforcer type, but he was basically just brought in as a surprise anyway. I think the big problem by that point was that they didn't have a strong face to feud with by that point, other than maybe Goldberg.

... and who was that? Do I really need to answer this?
  9. Disappointing payoff. The fact that they decided to go with a comedy angle speaks volumes. Just seems like a big wasted opportunity, unless Hornswoggle ends up not being the real bastard in this storyline.

Let's not forget who was responsible, either.
  11. Heh...Brewers became the first road team in MLB history to lead off a game with three consecutive home runs.
  12. The one thing about this is that Lawler just put over Booker as "the King", even if it was in a sort of roundabout way. It would have been kind of cool in an old school way if Booker had jobbed the crown to someone before leaving.
  13. Scarface was a good movie, but not as great as it's been made out to be by some. All the merchandise is getting ridiculous...you can buy a Scarface guitar case now, for example. What's the point? I think it was IGN that had an article on the Top 10 Overrated movies, which included Scarface, and said something like "Drop the act, you're not a gangsta anyway, you're a Home Depot stock boy from Hoboken, New Jersey."
  14. I always thought the big complaint with Sosa was the corked bat, not the steroids. I'm tired of people ragging on the NL Central (yes, partly because my favorite team is in it). There's always one division that is a little weaker every year. Remember when the AL Central used to be called "Comedy Central?" It's cyclical...there's only so much high end talent to go around MLB. The Astros, Pirates, Reds, and Cards are all entering re-build mode, while the Brewers and Cubs seem to be on the way up. Just part of sports.
  15. It's good to hear Booker is basically set financially. Good for him if this is true.
  16. Has anything concrete actually come out regarding this story? Seems like we would have heard something if there was something to this by now.
  17. Uh, Flair's not looking so bad lately. I think he had some surgery, if I recall? I think it's funny how many people rag on Flair for his appearance. Are half the people on this board going to be in shape like him when they're in their mid '50s? I doubt it.
  18. Isn't Robocop 2 the one where a bunch of kids run into a sports store, beat up the shop keep for no reason, and trash the place? I thought that was amusing.
  19. Flair in TNA would be a complete waste. I have no interest in seeing him there.
  20. Brewers are in first place once again. Woooo! Did anyone see the controversy about Ryan Braun watching his homer last night, in the middle of that 14-2 victory? I thought it was pretty amusing.
  21. snuffbox, if you were a contractor in Iraq, you could have probably just driven to one of the stockpiles of wrapped up hundred dollar bills, offered to build an abstinence education office, and made off with more than enough to rebuild any town in the US affected by recent flooding.
  22. I hope that is really how you answer the phone. Yes, I suppose if I really did answer the phone like that, I would get silence, or perhaps some confused babbling.
  23. OK, I meant it saves time as in I don't have to deal with this: "Hello, this is Invader3K." (I pretty much always give my name when answering the phone...you'd think this would help). "..." (silence) "Hello?" "Um...this isn't ____?" "No, I'm sorry, you must have the wrong number." "Oh...OK." It gets pretty old. Plus, it's an easy way of screening calls, like you said, in case it's someone I don't feel like talking to at the moment. This is mainly on my cell phone...if I already don't have your name and number saved, chances are you're not really high on my priority list, I guess.
  24. It's not that Iraq is better or worse off. It's that our country is involved over there when we have no real reason to be. If it was truly for humanitarian reasons that Iraq needed to be invaded, then it should have been the UN's job, not ours.
