Hell yes. I remember when I worked at Arby's in the mall back home in CT and my manager would order extra fish fillets for this time of year. Damned if all them Catholics didn;t order them, too.

Wow, this a tough week for the Pistons. Two tough games with the Miami Heat in between, who could beat them if they lose focus worrying about Portland.

That trade does make the Lakers much, much more of a threat in the West, but I would hold off on the title talk. They still have to fight through that conference and three others teams in the playoffs. Walk before you can crawl, kids. I will say that Mitch Kupchak just found the diamond that was buried under about 10 tons of shit, however.

Matt Young vs imarkout4 "Matt Young's Feelings" eldandy
Rendclaw replied to BUTT's topic in No Holds Barred
All I can say is, sending out PMs for votes is pretty fucking lame, Matt. Get by on your own talent and don't pander. -
That's the NBA, King. Nevermind that Kobe was getting several bad calls during the course of the game, the refs only screwed up that one time.

Thank God he took the job in Atlanta, though I can certainly understand Rip's frustration. Acie Law has all the earmarks of a good to excellent point guard in this league and Woodson plays him only in spots, but at the same time he still is a rookie. Joe Dumars himself said he would have take Law in the draft if he had been still available, even though Rodney Stuckey looks like he will be a decent successor to Chauncey Billups in time. Stuckey is more of a scorer than a distributor, but he's going going to work out, methinks.

I'm all over this. The first set of games from SNK were beautiful and a blast to play, if a bit frustrating at times.

Good thing that the Pistons beat the Spurs to avoid a three-game losing streak... I was rather disappointed by their performances against Boston (more in the 4th quarter than anything, but as was said before, the Pistons have always had problems with large centers, and the Celtics made the adjustment because the Pistons could not stop Glen Davis) and Dallas respectively (Why in the hell would you give Dirk any kind of room to shoot anything outside 20 feet???!). Now Charlotte presents a good test.. they are becoming a dangerous team to play, if a touch schizophrenic.

Summerslam 89 I think, where Warrior went over Rude with an assist from Roddy Piper.. The promo he cut ALWAYS made me laugh. "The condtions that I have, have already continued to worsen as I broke out of all the stratijackets and all the rubber rooms across the weak planets..." Fuck, I can;t even TYPE that promo without cracking up... God I miss the hell out of Jesse Ventura. The commentary is fucking AWESOME. Summerslam 89

After six months I finally beat that fucking mirrored course in HSG4. I did just enough to get 5-under and laid up the rest of the way. And my reward? unlocking a harder course, of course.

By all means, keep this up... this about as entertaining as it gets.

Ugh, I forgot about that... Tay shouldn't do commercials either.... he's too quiet of a guy. You need a little flamboyance to do commercials, and he doesn't have that.
-
Oh my god.... Hell at least Ford puts Chauncey in a decent commercial, and Rip has gotten more comfortable talking about laser eye surgery.... Poor Chris Bosh, he deserves better than that.

Black and yellow for the Hornets should have been adopted from the team's inception. But I guess that was too simple. Speaking of simple, I love the Pistons' 1957 throwbacks that they have been wearing for some home games. Pearl white with raised red lettering. Looks pretty nice.

I'm going to get into another fight...

So is HBK. I knew that reference was coming, the second I saw the post. The best thing about your sig Cowboy, is that even Tony Dungy got into that hit. -
Slim, that's a version of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers argument. They got better players and that is why they are better, not by changing the uniform. If anything my respect for UH went down for getting rid of the rainbows because of some wack ass homosexual context. Pussies.

I put the Blazers where they are because of their streak AND the fact that no one gave this team any kind of chance to do ANYTHING once Oden underwent microfracture surgery. I said they are overacheiving, but they deserve credit for doing what they are doing. Though after witnessing the debacle that is the Lakers/Celtics tonight (Lakers down by 25 early in the 4th quarter), I might place the Celtics over them now.

The Lakers are not going to win this game. Between the refs, Kobe going cold and their own ineptitude, the Lakers are getting blown the fuck out. Edit: Crittendon must think he is on the And1 tour or something. Dumbass.

I would have to agree with King there. If the Suns were even just a little bit better defensively, I would put them at #1, with the Spurs right behind them. As much fun as it is to watch at times, trying to simply outrun and outscore teams isn't enough. They score 109 points per game, but allow their opponents 103. A bad call here, a missed shot there, and you can lose as many games as you win. They haven't gotten to the promised land yet under this system, and with Steve Nash getting older, other players wanting to be traded and the like, I don;t think that they will. Conference Finals? Sure, almost every year, but no further. My top five teams goes like this (without the silly 1a stuff): 1: Spurs. Until they either go on a major losing streak or Duncan goes down again, this is their spot to lose. Though if they keep losing to teams that they should win against like Toronto, they just might get knocked off their perch. 2: Pistons. I know, call me a homer, but an eight game winning streak and winning 17 out of their last 20 still is exactly that. They had a bit of a slow start to the season for them, but they have picked it up in a big way. Their defense is starting to approach the level of when they won the title in 2004. I just would be happy if they started beating teams they have problems with, like Utah. 3: Trail Blazers: As dangerous as this team is right now, I personally think that they are overacheiving big time. Everyone wrote their season off when Oden went down, and what they are doing right now is nothing short of amazing. I just don;t think they can keep it up, but 12 straight is 12 straight. Big props to them for not folding. 4: Celtics: I took a look at their schedule, and my hypothesis was correct in that the majority of teams they played to this point were middle to low end. Their three losses came to the upper echelon teams in the East; Pistons, Magic, Cavs. They just avenged those losses to the Magic and the Cavs, and being 3-0 on their Western road trip nets them this spot, especially after beating a very good Utah team, even though they are having their problems right now. 5: Lakers: I was going to put Phoenix here until I looked at their last five games. The Lakers are 4-1 over that stretch with two quality wins (Utah and Phoenix). Phoenix was 3-2 over that same stretch, and beating the Clippers twice on a home-at home just is not quite good enough. mike546 is on the money with his comment. Is that objective enough? Going strictly by record, its Boston, Detroit, San Antonio, Phoenix and New Orleans. New Orleans?? Wow. And as far as proving my point about teams that don;t matter, as of this moment there are ten. East: Chicago, Milwaukee, Charlotte, New York, Miami. West: Sacramento, Clippers, Seattle, Memphis, Minnesota. I could even throw in Philly and Cleveland for argument's sake. There's my 10-12.

Today was my birthday, yet I am home by midnight.

Wait until you;re staring 40 right in the face. Whippersnappers. And Milky, I mean this in a nice way, but you have to be the biggest sociopath I have ever seen. -
Oh great... the return of nutters.... wonderful. Rip, I am not disagreeing that the Celtics are a very good team, but as I said, 4th ranking in the league at best. I did say they only recently started playing the better teams, and not the majority of the middle-to-lower echelon teams that they got their record off of. They are not quite yet good enough to beat either the Pistons or the Spurs in a seven game series. This year is a good story and they will make the playoffs, but this verbal fellating of the Celtics is getting ridiculous. I think that it all comes down to when their big three can do better about playing together. Paul Pierce still jacks it up just a little too much. I think once they really get used to each other, they are going be really dangerous. Rajan Rondo I think is the true X factor more than anything. The Eastern Conference is still behind the West, even though Garnett and Allen going to the Celtics evened it out somewhat. Beating every team in the East is not that big of an accomplishment, *especially* with a team as talented as the Celtics are right now. The West still is the measuring stick for a good team, and so far they are doing well. And without actually looking at the win-loss records, I would say that 10-12 of the teams in the league truly don't matter to a talented team. I hate to bash Alf's team, but the Pacers don;t matter as much to a team like the Pistons as much as say, the Cavs do, but that has more to do with what happened to the Pistons last year. I just watched the Pistons beat the Pacers twice on home-at home games on consecutive nights. And as far as Andre Miller goes, that cat can be dangerous. Cleveland should do almost anything possible to get him if they are serious about winning a championship.

Personally the Celtics are a touch overrated because they have been feasting on the weaker teams to get the record they have had, an only now are playing the higher echelon teams. I'd place them at #4 behind the Trail Blazers. I'm watching the replay of the Pistons/Pacers game tonight. The Pacers' new style of basketball (Phoenix-lite) might be good enough to beat most teams on any given night, but we all know that the Pistons are one of the premier defensive teams in the league, and that style is not going to work very well unless you are shooting the lights out. I was amused to see a shot of Kid Rock with a hot-ass blonde. You know he tapped that a few times after the game. Sheesh, 9:25 left in the game and its already garbage time as all five positions are taken by the Pistons' younger bench players. EDIT: Fuck, Walter Hermann with a Dr. J-esque palming reverse layup.... wow.

I seem to remember the majority of people throwing Skiles under the bus earlier this year, and rightly so. You can only be a complete dick to your players and keep your job for only so long. Personally, I thought his martinet tactics were going to get him fired. When the Ben Wallace afro thing broke, I just shook my head at just how inflexible he can be. It couldn;t have happened to a nicer guy. This is another example of someone's attitude that made him almost beloved as a player makes him an asshole as a coach.
-
That was a heady play by Kleiza. You can't do anything but tip your hat to him. And the Pistons keep right on rolling. I think it was Rip, but who said something about Yao's and McGrady's health being pivotal to the team's success. Its a "no duh" statement, but considering that they were in it until McGrady went down... yeah. Granted the Rockets looked tired on the defensive end, but still.

We are all going to see just how good the Celtics are when they take on the best of the Western Conference. Yes, their schedule has been relatively easy and everyone has been crowning them. They need more time to really gel together and know each others capabilities. They are not the greatest yet, despite their record.
