I laughed my ASS off at the way that Celtics/Pistons game ended. Any time that the Boston fans (who are getting more obnoxious than they were in the 80s) get the air let out of them, it is a good thing. I am thinking that these two are going to beat the ever-loving SHIT out of each other in the ECFs. That was a great game to watch.

I haven't checked the current Piston game, but the game against the Celtics should be one of the best of the year. I think that Boston's Big Three are goig to get canceled out by Detroit's Big Three, and its going to come down to whose bench steps up that night.

Dude, you need to walk away from the NBA for a little while if you're *that* bitter...

And the Pistons go 4-0 in this 4 games in 5 night stretch. New Orleans jumped out to a 15 point lead, but the Pistons groound them down and won by 15. Now its onto the Bulls at home on Friday night. Jason Maxiell is a fucking monster right now. I like those bruising PFs that take the ball to the basket consistently and try to throw it down the opposition's throat. Jarvis Hayes appears to be the savior that the Pistons needed: a proven scorer off the bench who can play defense.

Thats because they don't have a lot of decent players around LBJ to take the scoring pressure off of him. Drew Gooden can be a great player, but there is something missing there. Ilgauskas is nice, but the team as a whole stands around and watches BJ iso too much. I think they made a mistake trading away Flip Murray, and now he's starting to do for the Pistons what he used to do for the Cavs. They caught lighning in a bottle last year to make it to the Finals. No one expect Boobie Gibson to forget he's Boobie Gibson and make everything he threw up at the basket. Then LBJ channeled some greatness, the Pistons were victims of their own arrogance, and they got beat. But until they get a say, James Worthy to play alongside LBJ's Magic Johnson/Michael Jordan hybrid, they aren;t going to succeed. And fuck the BCS right in its computerized ear, Czech. And you know as well as I you shouldn't say anything to someone who wants to fight you when you are even *mildly* critical of their teams, rather than have a debate.

Nothing wrong with winning ugly. Winning is winning, whether its by one point or thirty-one. Pistons with a nice win over New Jersey. You know something is amiss when Jason Kidd can have near 20 assists and they still lose by 22. I'm just surprised as to how the Pistons are winning. They are just grinding teams into dust over the space of four quarters. Its a nice littel rtun they're on.

I tried to do that and it cost me three motherboards. I still have the first two, want them?

Why do you think the Magic got rid of him?? Well, he can play defense. I was more talking offensively. "Dunk, ur, uh, a guy's in front of me, oops, I missed, but I'll get the rebound, jack up an ugly, wide open mid-range jumper and nearly airball it." I like that we have a scrub who doesn't need or deserve minutes, though. That way the players who contribute can actually get PT, instead of subbing in Brian "I only shoot 3's" Cook all the time. I know, but my point is that being an offensive liability is almost as bad as being a defensive one. And I think that Brian Cook is given a bad rap. The only way you are going to get (occasional) shots in the Lakers offense is to camp out around the 3-point line and pray that Kobe draws a triple team and he *feels* like passing it to you.

Why do you think the Magic got rid of him?? And I take back the comments I said about the Cavs after the Knicks got gang-raped by the Celtics. Isaiah has to have pictures on Dolan to put the Knicks franchise through the ringer as he has.

I still can't believe that collapse by the Cavs last night. I know they are a total practice squad without Lebron, but for fucks sake, have a LITTLE bit of pride and don;t just roll over to be raped anally... And I say that being a Pistons fan. The Cavs completely bitched out after Lebron went down. I would have had more respect for that team had they scrapped and fought and lost by 20, but they took it up the ass and got blown out by 35. Fucking pathetic.

The Pistons, no matter what, can't beat the Jazz. I have never seen a team that has another team's number more than Utah has Detroit's... its unbelievable.
-
That just means that you suck. Sagat is the second easiest boss to beat aside from Balrog, if you know what you are doing. Jingus, I beat the arcade version of Ghosts&Goblins back in the day. The nintendo version didn;t have shit on it. Ghouls and Ghosts was very hard. And the level that has me fucking stumped is the current course challenge in Hot Shots Golf Fore. FUCKING HARD.
-
Charlie's Angels was a fucking abortion from the get go. Once they got Drew Barrymore involved, it was going to suck hard, and both movies did. There is no reason why another Terminator movie needs to be made. T3 was terrible; a classic example of the writers and production crew outsmarting themselves.

Cook will be a good addition to the Magic, who need a little more offense off the bench. Evans I am not so sure about, because I have seen him when he was on the Pistons and I wasn't impressed with anything about his game. He seemed like a slightly younger version of Ronald Dupree, except that Dupree can shoot a little bit. They do need to get tougher defensively as a unit, since Dwight is getting into foul trouble quite a bit, as was stated before. Pistons play tonight against the Knicks, this should be an interesting game. I was disappointed by their 2-3 road trip, with three losses coming in a row. She should have gone at least 3-2, but I can see how that west coast swing can kill an EC team's energy.
-
Agreed. I was listening to the beat writer for the Pistons and he said that Joe Dumars called the Lakers back in June when Kobe said what he said, and Kupchak said that Kobe will not waive his no-trade clause because he does not want to go to Detroit. That's enough for me, even if Ric Bucher is still spewing his pro-Kobe bullshit during the Laker-Piston game.

I doubt it. I just doubt Kobe's ability to actually tone down his game and fit into a team mold. He has been getting his way since high school, and I don't believe that he can actually be unselfish. That hole at SF is downright glaring, not to mention going from Kobe to Flip Murray would be a HUGE downgrade, as much as I like Flip now that he is rounding back into the player I saw playing for Cleveland. Tayshaun is an untouchable, plain and simple. He is as much an integral part to the Pistons' success as any other player on the roster, if not more so. Afflalo and Stuckey are unproven even though they have shown they can do some good things. Unless they are legit superstars, you cannot put THAT much pressure upon rookies, because they need to be allowed to screw up as most rookies do... Hell even Kobe was extremely hit or miss in his rookie year. I don't think that Maxiell would have developed as he has if they threw him in the fire immediately, and he still has a ways to go (midrange game needed here). I buy into the team concept a lot, perhaps too much at times. The Lakers and Celtics of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s were great teams, and even though both had a lot of superstars on their teams, they had good to great players alongside those superstars that contributed to the team's success. I don't think that Kobe could ever fit into such a concept on a team such as the Pistons. Playoffs? Absolutely. Conference finals? Sure. But no further than that which is kind of where the Pistons are now, without such a player as Kobe.

That reported trade had been making the rounds here on Detroit sports talk radio, and Joe Dumars unequivocably stated that the deal rumors were false on every level. I believe that because Dumars would never even consider trading Rasheed, Rip or Tayshaun. I thought that he MIGHT pull the trigger on Rasheed in the offseason, but he did not and I am glad that he didn't, considering how he is playing now. If Isaiah was running the Pistons, he would make that trade and make the Pistons the Lakers East. Dumas is smart enough to know that Kupchak and Buss want too much for Kobe. Is he worth it? I could almost say yes, but not quite. Kobe is a phenomenal player no doubt, but its not all about what he does on the court. Kobe is not about team, he is about himself and has been most of his career. Jordan (his idol and role model) realized that had to have good players around him and that he couldn't do it all by himself. Kobe was taught that lesson after Shaq was let go, but the lesson was not learned. I am in complete agreement with Rip: to trade that many players for Kobe would all but destroy the Pistons' hopes for a championship. The Pistons are a great TEAM, and to make that kind of trade means that the organization wants star power, not championships.

The Pistons gut out a win after Golden State looked like they were going to run them right out of the gym. This was a huge win because both Chauncey and McDyess were both out of the lineup after the loss in Portland. The more things that cause the Pistons to get better as a team as a whole I will take. I am impressed with Rasheed staying in his shoes, especially after shitty calls against him. Whomever here said something in the preseason about him losing weight and coming in in shape in the offseason was dead on. His game is more consistent on every level and he is hitting big time shots. Rip's midrange game is looking a little weak with the exception of the game before last, and I hope that rounds into shape. I just hope that's because of the ankle injury he suffered in the preseason, not to mention being a new father. All Jason Maxiell needs is a consistent midrange jumper and he will be the next Karl Malone. Flip Murray is finally looking like the Flip Murray that was doing well in Cleveland. The Warriors really need to stop relying on trying to blow teams out with their long range game. It may work early, but guys wear down over the course of 48 minutes and they start missing shots. They were cutting the Pistons into tiny pieces early, but the Pistons kept right on grinding and just outworked them at the end. Not to mention they seriously need to stop flopping to try and draw fouls. I saw at least two instances where both calls were oversell jobs. They need a much more balanced attack offensively, as both Detroit and Cleveland got down big to them and they both came back to beat them.

I am watching the Pistons slowly give away this game to the Sonics. I fucking hate it when the Pistons start the game going to the basket and then they start settling for jump shots... they had a lead near 20, and now its down to 4.

"Interstate Love Song" is the last great American rock and r
Rendclaw replied to AboveAverage484's topic in Music
If you're going to go by what radio stations were playing at the time the argument is moot, because the ratio of shitastic songs to good ones being played back then was like 9 or 10:1. Radio stations only played what their PDs THOUGHT was good music, or if the record companies cajoled, bitched and whined enough abotu a certain artist. Veruca Salt was a great band. Its a shame they didn't get more run then they already did. -
I don't doubt Yao being an all-star at all. Problem is, will he be healthy by the All-Star break? 50-50 shot at best. But that is not my issue. My issue is the "Yao vs. Yi" hype that prolly ESPN is going to shove down our throats the week before the game. TNT does a good share of hyping, but they don't take it to the nth degree, thank god.

Interstate is too short, even though its a great song and I love it. It needed another verse and chorus, because as I am really grooving out to it, the song is over. Trippin is a great song. Dean DeLeo put a lot of subtle intricacies in the song that you have to listen for, although if you see a live video of the song, you can see what he is doing. -
He is desperate to push that international agenda that he's been hawking for the last 10-15 years. He only was listened to back then because Jordan was the most popular athlete in the world at the time. I say that no matter where his game is, Yi is out of Milwaukee at the end of his contract, and prolly going to LA or Seattle. I shudder to think of the overhyping when the Rockets play the Bucks. Its going to be sickening.

The coach has to learn too. Whether he does or not is the thing.... How long has he been head coach of the Hawks?
-
Though I should have thought of him before, Acie Law is a perfect example for my debate with you, Rip. Once he gets some of the rawness out of his game, he is going to be one hell of a point guard. I thought early in the game he was passing up open shots, but he showed that he can shoot the ball as well as distribute it. Like Metro, I was hoping that he would fall into the Pistons' lap. The Hawks, like I said about the Bulls a year or two ago, are a young team that needs to mature and play more of a team game, and it might take them trading off Joe Johnson. The guy does a little too much one-on-one to the detriment of the rest of the guys on the floor. And there were bad calls both ways during the game. But hold your head up Rip, the Hawks of say two years ago would have gotten ground into dust by the Pistons and would have lost by at least 10-15. They're a young team on the rise, and once they get a couple of good veterans and grow up a litte bit, they're going to be a force in their division.
