Edgar vs. Fisher Just an awful fight. Edgar completely nullified Fisher's striking and Fisher almost completely nullified Edgar's GNP, which resulted in three dull rounds. Don't try to pull that "you don't appreciate the ground game" shit either because nothing happened on the ground. Probably less than three guard passes and only one submission attempt in total from the two of them. There are definitely exciting ground battles that involve GNP and submissions and this wasn't one of them. Herman vs. Doerksen Another crappy fight. The highlight was Doerksen's quick triangle application at the end of round 2 but since "we got to see a ko" I guess we're supposed to be content. Karo vs. Chonan Even worse than Vera vs. Sylvia. Silva vs. Alexander Definitely not a dull fight but it wasn't overly exciting either. Alexander was mounted like less than a minute in so it was pretty easy to tell where it was going. The most impressive thing about the fight to me was actually the ref's call on the replay since I thought it was an early stoppage at first. Evans vs. Bisping Just Edgar vs. Fisher again. I didn't even want to hear whatever crap they had to say about their fight in the interviews and I wanted to just turn it off but I knew that Lauzon's sub was coming up. Lauzon vs. Reinhardt Great sub. Reinhardt had only fought two fighters with winning records and they were roughly 3-1 and 20-12 so I don't know why people were expecting a great battle in this fight. It ended quickly just like I thought it would. I consider UFC 73 a solid event and UFCs 74-76 great events. That doesn't mean I'm going to eat shit if the UFC tries to feed it to me. UFC 77 and 78 were definitely not in the same league as those. -

I actually had this edit in a minute after my previous post: edit: But I bet Lord of The Curry will come in and call it a "solid" event. And I decided against it because I honestly thought you wouldn't even be able to defend this ppv, but here you are calling me spoiled. UFC 77 (excluding the main event) was a crappy event but UFC 78 was just pure shit. -

Not even a round into Cung Le vs. Sam Morgan and it's already an embarrassing display for both fighters and MMA in general. -

I can already tell that the next episode is going to be awesome. Guitar Queer-o "Obsessed with the Guitar Hero video game, Stan and Kyle make a great team and score record points when they play. Stan realizes he has the potential for enormous success if he plays with another partner. He and Kyle break up but, without his friend, Stan quickly folds under the pressure of being a rockstar."

That makes it an important fight, not "FOTY." Take Uno vs. Hansen for example since it occured a month before Griffin vs. Bonnar 1. It was exciting and technical and definitely deserving of being mentioned as fight of the year. It seems like sloppy slugfests get nominated for FOTY all the time when they don't deserve shit. Hell Leben vs. Martin was another sloppy brawl and I actually hate both of them but it was still more exciting to me than Griffin vs. Bonnar 1 even though I don't hate them.
-
List them then. All I saw was two tall fighters exchanging crappy punches while utilizing minimal defense.

You were honestly satisfied with the fights last night? Belcher vs. Starnes Horrible fight. Schafer vs. Bonnar Just average. Robinson vs. Gurgel Gurgel is a pile of crap. Sylvia vs. Vera ... Silva vs. Franklin Ok this was an amazing fight. Silva vs. Franklin definitely doesn't turn the entire card into "solid" for me. Belcher vs Starnes was horrible? Stop watching MMA. That was perfectly acceptable fighting. Bonnar vs Schafer wasn't amazing but nothing to get offended about. Robinson/Gurgel was good back and forth with Jorge tooling him in the first and Robinson coming back in the second and third to whoop that ass. Sylvia/Vera wasn't good, no questions there and the main event was fantastic and even the Jensen/Maia fight had some sick jiu-jitsu in it. Honestly, if this wasn't a solid card to you then I'm not sure what to say other then you're expecting too much from MMA. I expect more than sloppy brawling (Belcher vs. Starnes, mostly Starnes), crappy fighters getting onto the main card (Gurgel, who basically forfeited the fight to Robinson), and standing LNP (Sylvia vs. Vera, yeah, I'm blaming both of them so it's not like I'm just hating on Sylvia although Vera also had a broken hand). Maia's fight was an undercard fight so it wasn't guaranteed but I liked it. This is just like back in 2005 when Griffin vs. Bonnar was called "FOTY" just because it was two morons brawling for three rounds. Take Silva vs. Franklin off of the card and you have an absolutely horrible ppv. I bet you're the kind of fan who watches something like Cote vs. Leben and goes "WOW what a slugfest!" That kind of shit is just boring and ugly to watch.

Just for reference, Cung Le is one inch shorter than Fryklund and here's Silva's fight with Fryklund. I don't believe any of the hype about Cung Le. He's just a midget with weak flashy kicks.
