  1. Las Vegas, The Amazing Race and CSI: LV are about the only shows I'm going to make an effort to catch on a regular basis. And I may change my mind on TAR once I see how the whole family dynamic shakes out. I may watch Survivor, the L&Os and the other CSIs sporadically, as my wife watches them all the time. I'm probably going to end up spending most of my TV-watching time watching my DVD season sets, though.
  2. I think MLB is the only major professional sports league not to publish its playoff tiebreaking scenarios. It doesn't surprise me in the least.
  3. 2xP
  4. Not quite -- that only happens if the three teams are all tied with the same record. Since one-game playoffs count in the standings, the loser would end up a half-game behind the Yankees, regardless of who it was, so the Yankees would get the WC no matter what. If two division rivals end up tied for the division lead and the wild-card lead, they don't play a playoff game, but go to tiebreakers instead. I believe this happened with the Rockies a few years back.
  5. I don't have one anymore, but it might be the write-up that they had on Millar in ESPN the Magazine, where he called Manny cheap: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, it's a link to the online ESPN The Mag. Which they're nice enough to provide to all those Insider subscribers who CAN'T GET THE FREAKING MAGAZINE BECAUSE THEY DON'T DELIVER OUTSIDE THE USA. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
  6. *raises hand* Saved my ass, too, after Rutgers blew an easy win. Now I just need Miami to come through. Looking through the scores, I lost just about every game I flip-flopped on at the last minute - I had West Virginia and Notre Dame until just before I actually submitted.
  7. This isn't a completist tournament. I don't think any of those could ever be considered the one of the best tag teams ever.
  8. That has to be it.
  9. I was going to announce this next week and run it myself, but ESPN.com has a free pool running, so I'm just using that. All are welcome to join. I don't think there's a limit. Rules are simple -- pick a team that you think will win each week. The only catch is that you can't pick the same team twice during the entire season. If the team you pick for any given week loses, you're out. Entry page is here: http://games.espn.go.com/eliminator/frontpage Once you've signed up, go to Join a Group. The (private) group name is "TSM NFL Survivor". Password is "tsm".
  10. Wow, they sure picked the worst of several options there. Are they going to make New Orleans play a complete road schedule, like MLB did to the Expos when their stadium was deemed unsafe?
  11. Excellent editorial. Being a government worker myself, I recognize a lot of these problems, most of which stem from not enough communication and too many regulations. Regulations inhibit creativity.
  12. Somewhere, a software developer for Rockstar Games is taking notes for their next GTA instalment. I just know it.
  13. You guys have Dave Van Horne? I used to love watching Expos telecasts when he was doing them. He and Ken Singleton were a great team.
  14. Eh, not like anyone else picked Houston.
  15. Well, we're officially desperate for news now.
  16. If these are the eight greatest teams in history, we're all in trouble.
  17. I always get those two mixed up. Yes, it was the IC title match in 89 I was thinking of.
  18. This ought to put the final nail in the coffin for the "people are basically good" theory.
  19. Incidentally, I hated voting for only eight teams. Leaving the RnR's off the list just seemed criminal. EDIT: Aw, fuck it...I edited my list.
  20. Martial law was declared on Tuesday. There just aren't enough National Guardsmen there yet to keep shit like this from happening. They may need to send the Marines in there to keep things under control at this rate.

  22. Is he trying to kill people with that background??
  23. The stats are all in constant 2003 dollars.
  24. Well, they did have Tampa Bay and Texas in for half those games.
  25. Let's see... Luger Sting Savage Hennig Von Erich Vader Anderson Hogan Undertaker Steamboat Funk Race Rhodes Koloff Windham Brody Piper Tsuruta Guerrero Hart I'm sure others could name at least 10 more.
