Feinstein's not the greatest sports author ever (I'm partial to Roger Angell and David Halberstam myself), but he is truly excellent. His book Hard Courts is probably the only interesting book on tennis I've ever read.
I hope he stays retired. If he came back, I don't think he'd stay long, from the sounds of things. Calvin and Hobbes is the best multi-panel strip ever...just leave it be.
