Another TD for the Vikings.
-
Del Rio shows he's got a set! Jags go for it on 4th and 10 and convert on a 22-yard pass.
-
Touchdown Eagles.

Looks fine on my TV. A little too bright, actually.

WHAT A CATCH BY MOSS!!! 7-0 Vikings.
-
Cleveland has scored already. 7-0 Browns
-
BUT...Culpepper hasn't been deactivated, so there's still hope for later in the game.

I get: New England @ Washington Philadelphia @ Buffalo San Francisco @ Minnesota Dallas @ NY Jets Detroit @ Denver ...and three games TBA. Who needs Sunday Ticket with this kind of selection?

With Vince going over. And somehow winning a world title. You KNOW that's his ultimate wet dream. -
So, what TV shows should I be watching?
CanadianChris replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
Judging from the first episode, Las Vegas is going to be a very good show...and a very good excuse to miss Raw when the MNF game isn't a good one (like this week, probably). Nikki Cox and Vanessa Marcil on the same show = MUST-SEE TV~! -
These people need to piss off and realize that they should be happy with what they have. Abreu walks 100 times a year. The only other players with streaks that long now are Jason Giambi and Jim Thome. He puts up a .400 OBP every year. He hits for power. He steals bases. The man does everything well, and yet the Phillie fans want more. According to Win Shares, he's the 7th most valuable player in the National League. What more do the fans want? The second coming of Mike Schmidt. Oh, wait, they booed Schmidt, too.

This is a given. May as well start it up right now...

David Crockett is on WWE TV. Never thought I'd ever type that.

October 4, 1975? Why wouldn't they wait until next Saturday and do this story on the 28th anniversary?

I'm having a hard time believing any team will go undefeated this season. The utter destruction of the BCS is right on schedule...
-
What a bunch of losers. Can't even lose enough to put themselves in the record books. They blew it.
-
Vernon Wells also broke Tony Fernandez's old club record with his league-leading 214th and 215th hits of the season.

I will make a slightly safer claim, and say that neither Boston nor Chicago will win the World Series.

Well, since people seem to think that five weeks before the season is a good time to start discussing the NBA, let's talk about a league that actually starts sometime soon. Last we saw, in the least-desired outcome since forever, the New Jersey Devils were walking off with the Stanley Cup, to party with their fan(s?) and Joe Piscopo in the Meadowlands parking lot. There's been a lot of activity since then, though: - Dominik Hasek returned to the Detroit Red Wings, putting them in the (un)enviable position of having TWO starting goaltenders. Of course, we all saw how well Curtis Joseph took it when he was benched for Marty Brodeur in the Olympics. - Seeing an opportunity with a labour stoppage looming, Colorado went out and plucked Paul Kariya from the Western Conference champion Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and Teemu Selanne from the San Jose Sharks -- each signing one-year deals for a mere $6.5 million TOTAL. Colorado undoubtedly has the most explosive offence in the league...but with Patrick Roy following his son's junior career, who's going to stop the pucks? Will it matter? - The Philadelphia Flyers, still searching for the answer to the goaltending woes that have plagued them ever since Ron Hextall left, opted to sign former Bruins goalie Jeff Hackett. Hackett could be the answer...of course, he could be another playoff bust. Robert Esche waits in the wings. - Joe Nieuwendyk signed with Toronto, wanting to become the first player ever to win Cups with four different teams (Flames, Stars, Devils so far). Um...then why did he sign with Toronto?? - The Tampa Bay Lightning were simultaneously cursed by THREE different teams, after signing restricted free agent Brad Richards to a ridiculously overpriced deal. The Senators, Wild and Oilers, each with restricted free agents of their own comparable to Richards, all saw their FAs hold out after being offered significantly lower deals. - Speaking of the Ottawa Senators, they were finally rescued from bankruptcy, being purchased by Toronto pharmaceutical billionaire Eugene Melnyk. You'd never know it by their negotiations with star winger Martin Havlat (one of the aforementioned free agents), though...other than that, everyone returns. This team could finally have the mental toughness needed to hoist the Cup, after coming two minutes and one goal short in the conference final last year. - The New York Rangers were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. So, with all that (and much more), what's going to happen this season? My predictions (playoff seedings in parentheses): Atlantic 1. (2) Philadelphia - Hopefully, another playoff flop will finally get Bob Clarke canned. 2. (4) New Jersey - The champs stand pat. Which means another year of 1-0 and 2-1 snoozers. 3. (8) NY Islanders - Could be a little better...or a LOT worse. 4. NY Rangers - Chaos continues to reign in MSG. 5. Pittsburgh - 1 superduperstar and 19 scrubs means another last-place finish. Northeast 1. (1) Ottawa - Does this team remind anyone else of the early 80s Oilers? This could be their time at last. 2. (5) Toronto - Offense seels tickets, but defence wins championships. The drought continues. 3. (6) Boston - Felix Potvin is NOT the answer. 4. Montreal - Too many distractions, not enough talent. 5. Buffalo - Was it really only four years ago that this team was in the Cup final? Southeast 1. (3) Tampa Bay - Not enough to make some serious playoff noise, but enough to win this division. 2. (7)Atlanta - A full year of Bob Hartley pays dividends. 3. Carolina - Will bounce back big time from last year. 4. Florida - This team will be very good...next year. 5. Washington. The Jagr trade was perhaps the worst thing to ever happen to this franchise. Central 1. (1) Detroit - This may be the greatest group of blueliners ever assembled. 2. (5) St. Louis - Can this team EVER stay healthy? If so, they may go places. 3. Columbus - Lots of free agents on this team. If they can build chemistry, they could be better. 4. Nashville - I have heard of two players on this team...and they're both former Senators (York, Johanssen). 5. Chicago - Still waiting for Bill Wirtz to croak. The brief glimmer of hope is gone. Northeast 1. (2) Colorado - For all the big names this team has, one name stands out most...starting G David Aebischer. 2. (4) Vancouver - This may be Cloutier's last chance. This team could reach the Stanley Cup final. 3. (8) Calgary - Hard to say what this team will do. Defence is much improved. 4. Minnesota - No Gaborik? No playoffs. 5. Edmonton - This team has lost just too many players...and no Mike Comrie doesn't help. Pacific 1. (3) Dallas - Turco did the smart thing and signed. With one year of playoff experience, watch him carefully. 2. (6) Los Angeles - Cechmanek is the key. With lowered expectations in sports-apathetic LA, could be brilliant. 3. (7) Anaheim - Conn Smythe winner Giguere will continue to shoulder the load. 4. San Jose - Sharks start over from scratch after last year's flameout. 5. Phoenix - Burke will keep them from being worst in the league, but not by much. President's Cup winner - Ottawa Senators West final - Detroit over Vancouver East final - Ottawa over New Jersey Stanley Cup final - Ottawa over Detroit

This week has 5-9 written all over it.

Um... Let's see.. *scratches head* Aha!! Austin, 1999.
-
What a choke job by Alabama. Up 14 in the 4th AND holding the ball in OT after stoning Arkansas, and they still lose.
-
Well, I see the playoffs going thusly: Division Series: Yankees in 5 Red Sox in 4 Braves in 4 Giants in 3 LCS: Yankees in 7 Giants in 6 World Series: Giants in 6

Cubs beat the Pirates, 4-2. They have clinched at least a tie for the NL Central title, and can win their first division title in 14 years outright with a win in the second half of the doubleheader later today.
