I think the Raptors' chance at home court died at the trade deadline. I don't see any way they pass Cleveland now, especially since they have one more trip out west (a five-gamer where they play the Lakers, Warriors and Jazz) while the Cavs are done with the Western Conference except for a couple of home games.

It has to be the 2000s by a mile. If you look back, there were really only three or four years in the 90s that were any good. 1992 was the best year of the decade, and 1994, 1996 and 1997 all had consistently good matches from Bret and HBK, but the rest of the time it was pretty crappy. The best year this decade (2000) trumps the best year of the 90s (1992), the really good wrestling has been better this decade than last, and there hasn't been one year where match quality just completely bottomed out like it did in 1990 or 1995.

This is the first year I can remember when Opening Day (March 31) and the NCAA championship game (April 7) are on different days.

That's it in a nutshell for me. There's not even anything guaranteed to happen. I know all about taking time off work to go watch sports, being someone who almost always takes two days off in March to watch the first round of the NCAA tournament, but sitting around watching a bunch of studio guys talk about trades that may or may not happen doesn't do it for me.

I don't think any blame should be put on the players for invoking no-trade clauses. All the blame rests with the idiots in management who gave the players that power in the first place. It's easy to say Sundin should want to play for a winner, but there's certainly no guarantee of winning a Cup if traded - look no further than Peter Forsberg on that one -- and the idea of leaving a city he's called home for a dozen years just for that reason obviously isn't enough incentive. Having said that, what has someone like Pavel Kubina ever done to merit a no-trade, and why exactly would he be so reluctant to get traded from a last-place team?

Parity? How is there parity? You've got two awesome teams, another very good team, two more pretty good teams, and 10 teams playing like shit (although Washington would be better if healthy). That's not parity, that's just a bunch of teams playing like shit. Parity would be if everyone was around .500. Given that the ten playoff contenders in the West have a .679 winning percentage against the East, I kinda doubt that's the case.

Stern needs to make an executive decision and seed the entire playoffs by record this year. I looked at the standings for the first time in a while this morning, and it's stunning that we're on pace to have a 50-win team left at home in the West while three 35-win teams (or WORSE!) are still playing in the East.
