OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/11 (Week 5)

How can you not like Lita. She does a great job of enhancing Edge's character without overshadowing him, and without her, Edge's heel heat wouldn't be half as strong. I'd say she's one of the 10 best characters in the company right now. Saying that Lita was more interestng with Essa Rios is like saying Edge was more interesting in the Brood.

    Good shows gone bad...

The OC did this trip pretty quick. The first season was tremendous, to the point that it seemed to be growing the whole genre. The second season was still entertaining at times, but nowhere near the same quality. Then, the third season was just awful. To the point that I'd try to watch an episode, and only get through about 5 minutes before it was so embarrasingly bad that I had to turn it off.

    OAO Raw Thread - July 10th, 2006

Smackdown's awful. I watched the one where Batista came back for the first time in a long time. The whole thing just feels so artificial. The camera cuts constantly in the middle of matches to find the angle that most accurately shields any spot that might be a little bit off, and twice I noticed cuts in the middle of matches where there was obviously some time shaved off. To me, wrestling's mainly about the interplay between the performers and the crowd, so when you remove that by editing the crowd to ridiculous mark level, and then fuck with the actual matches too, there's nothing left to bring me in. I'll watch Flair vs. Vince for the ECW title before I get into that show.

    NCAA Football 07

90% of the games I play are sports games. You can talk all you want about "unreal adventure", but I dream of running a college football team a lot more than I dream about going out into the woods and killing monsters.

OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/11 (Week 5)

He'd only have to do it for a few weeks until RVD comes back. I'm just looking for someone to go in there, stand up for the honor of ECW, and ultimately get their asses kicked just in time for Rob to come back and save the day. Sabu, Sandman, and Dreamer would all fit this purpose just fine. And even if you say Sandman "doesn't have it any more", you have to admit you'd mark out to see him cane the fuck out of Paul E. and the Big Show.

OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/11 (Week 5)

Edited to be something I'd really like to see. Seriously, they had a chance to make a great angle out of this, (Show is the WWE heel against the ECW loyalists), and they couldn't have fucked it up worse. To whoever said there are no options because RVD's out, I've got three right off the top of my head: 1. Show/Sabu: This is the completely obvious choice. Sabu is not suspended, and there's no reason that he couldn't have a quick feud with show over the title before RVD comes back. As long as he's talking now, he could cut a quick promo about how he's what ECW's all about and how Show's not really hardcore, leading to some beatdowns, and an eventual extreme rules match between the two. 2. Show/Sandman: Have Show start off the show in the middle of the ring cutting a boring promo in an ugly ill-fitting suit, only for Sandman to come out and cane the fuck out of him. Instant feud. Sandman talks about how he's been caning wrestlecrap for weeks, and this fat jackass is just another example. 3. Show/Dreamer: They already have a feud going! Why wouldn't this be a perfect time-filler for a few weeks? Dreamer's a good promo, and he could talk about how there's nothing hardcore about getting a fat sellout to win the title for you. If Show sold for Dreamer a little bit, they could have a really fun match.

    OAO Raw Thread - July 10th, 2006

Quick review of Raw: The Good: Edge. He was an all-around awesome heel last night and showed that he deserved to be wearing the belt. His commentary for the opening match was better than JR and King's, and drinking Mimosas is a great heel move. Foley: That two minute promo he cut on Flair was more intense, entertaining, and believable than anything I've seen in a while. The Bad: Everything else. God, was that an awful show. The Diva Search is even worse than usual this year, and the Miz should never be given a live mic again for the rest of his life. And then we have the McMahons vs. Eugene in the main event? That had to be the least entertaining ME from any promotion in a long, long time. Finally, Big Show/Ric Flair for the ECW title has to be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard, and has me debating between watching the first half hour of ECW tomorrow and tuning out for the main event, or just skipping the show altogether. I mean, they have this storyline where Show's a heel, based almost entirely on the fact that he's not from ECW, so they put him against a WWE/WCW "face" who's 55 years old. Brilliant. Why don't they just make the main event Vince pulling his pants down in the middle of the ring and taking a 20 minute shit on the ECW logo. Oh wait, they're probably saving that for SNME.

    The Office, Season Two

Well, I just bought the first season on of the Office and then watched "The Fire" and "Halloween" which I recorded during the marathon and had never seen before. It's kind of weird watching them all in a row like that. They're still pretty hilarious, but the melancholy from the whole Jim/Pam thing comes through a lot more since it's the only thing constant betwen them. I had to watch the end of "Casino Night" again (also on my DVR), just to get myself back in a decent mood about the whole thing. Jim and Pam need to be together damn it!

At least he's not responding to something someone posted on a message board 10 months ago.

I think if you ramble on for more than three sentences without making any attempt at punctuation on your first post, that should be an automatic ban. Seriously, what are the odds of somebody like that becoming a productive poster? 1 in 100,000? 1 in a billion? It's got to be up there anyway.

    Pup-peronis

Aren't you the naive one. They're not going to tell you that they're drugging your dog. It's their dirty little secret. I don't think the FDA's going to be hauling their asses off to jail or anything if they misreport the ingredients in dog treats.

    Pup-peronis

The dog that goes crazy's six pounds. The big dogs don't really respond to him. I'd probably have to eat about 50 to get high, and if I did, I think I'd throw up first.

    The Montreal Screwjob?..

I don't know how this whole thing got complicated into a big moral dilemma. Here's the situation in a nutshell. Bret refused to drop the belt in a high-profile match because he was a giant mark for himself, and wanted his character to win. As a result, Vince changed the finish of his big PPV match without his knowledge to a situation where he loses the belt, but still looks extremely, extremely, strong since it was obvious he never submitted. He basically leaves the WWF as the legitimate heavyweight champion. This finish made Bret so angry that he whined about it for years and years, long after his career got ended by an incompetent jackass in WCW. Seriously, if you watch "Wrestling with Shadows" (I just watched the last hour again a week ago), it's scary how much of a mark Bret is for himself. He talks about how Vince murdered his character by having him turn heel, and how if he had to play the #2 heel for a while, there was absolutely nowhere for his character to go, and his character would be completely dead. Then, he talks about how they might as well just shoot him in the back of the head if they were going to job him to Shawn, and how giving Shawn a cheap pinfall would be "raping him in the middle of the ring". The way he treats the whole thing, it's almost like he thinks the whole thing's real or something. He also talks about how awful it was that Vince told him to say bad things about the American cities he was in, because he didn't really feel that way about the cities. Uh, hello Bret. You were playing a heel. You don't have to believe every single thing in your heart that you say to get some cheap heat.
  15. Doesn't look fake to me. Looks like exactly the kind of gay shit they'd do to show us how "cool" and "tough" Cena is.

    SNME

How about Big Show vs. Sabu for the ECW Title? They said that Sabu's not suspended and with RVD and Angle out, he's far and away ECW's most marketable star.
  17. He doesn't express his opinion very well, but he's right in principle. HBK's probably the greatest all-around wrestler in history.

Well, thank god Sabu's still going to be around. The next four weeks of TV would be rough if he wasn't.

OAO ECW Week 4 on Sci-Fi, July 4th

All right, let me preface this by saying that I've been a WWF (and later WWE) fan since I started watching wrestling in 1998. All I ever saw of the old ECW was about five minutes of a crappy promo airing on some obscure channel. I became a huge fan of RVD after his 2001 work in the WWF, started to cool on him when he got jobbed out and lost his motivation, and got really into him again when he started working hard again the last few weeks and putting on really great matches. I've also loved everything I've seen from Sabu thus far (only seeing his WWE work), but most of my connection to ECW is being an RVD mark. With that said, I didn't think this show was that bad. After Raw, I went in expecting to see RVD get jobbed out, and expecting this to be the death knell for the new ECW. Actually, RVD was put over really strong as he kicked out of the chokeslam (when's the last time you saw someone do that), and had Show pinned cleanly before he got screwed by Heyman. All throughout the show, he was put over as the "real champion of ECW", and the short promo he cut on Big Show was the best I've seen since the one he cut on Jericho in December of 2001. (I know at least a couple of you know what I'm talking about here.) I think this still has some potential. We all kind of agreed that the next logical place to go for ECW was to have a WWE guy screw RVD out of the title, and now we have it. It's a little bit premature, but it's also got a lot more heat with the real-life background. Big Show doesn't have X-Pac heat, he has heel heat and more heel heat than anyone in five years at that. The fans weren't bored with the Big Show, they were pissed the fuck off that he was carrying the ECW title. Honestly, if you had me list the things I would most like to see in wrestling right now, #1 wouldn't be The Rock's return, and it certainly wouldn't have anything to do with Hogan or anyone on Raw or Smackdown. It would be for RVD to come back and cleanly beat the Big Show for the ECW World Title. Yeah, it sucks that RVD's suspended for 30 days, and it's going to be even worse since Sabu will probably be gone for just as long, but I think ECW can fade this. Are you telling me that you'd be "bored" watching Heyman shoot on RVD next week and explain why he wasn't the kind of guy he needed to be ECW champion? Are you telling me you'd be "bored" watching Dreamer feud with Show for the honor of ECW, or watching a Sandman/Show feud for the next two weeks when that wears thin? Would you be "bored" when RVD comes back, cuts a great promo, and kicks Show in his fat fuck, no talent face? What if he wins back the title on a televised special two months from now once this whole arrest thing blows over. Yeah, I know the midcard could use some work, and the whole show could still easily fall apart, but right now, I think ECW would be a hell of a lot easier to fix than boring-ass Raw and Smackdown, or even worse, TNA. As a wrestling fan, I'm still excited to see what happens next.

The Cranky Old Men were pretty pissed about after falling out of first. They came out fired up on Monday with 17 hits including 4 HRs.

    World Cup 2006 in Germany

If I hadn't just slept for 14 hours, I think this match might put me back to sleep. No one's even getting any good chances. I almost wonder if I should even bother watching the OT. We all know it's going to penalty kicks.

    OAO Raw Thread - July/3rd/2006.

That's the thing. They don't even pretend like it's another federation. It's just a different brand under the WWE umbrella, like Raw and Smackdown. They could have done this whole thing a hell of a lot better, but then again, if they're going to blow the whole promotion apart by firing/suspending/depushing RVD and Sabu, it won't matter anyway.

RVD and Sabu arrested for drugs

It's not like that's the date where anything would actually be resolved. That's the date that sets up the date that sets up the date where they might decide when they're going to plead. Shit, I got a DUI on December 1, and the first hearing that actually deals with the case is still three weeks away.
