We're arguing at work- debating whether it's Northern California or Long Island. Second half of finale is tonight

Does anyone know where the show took place?

The new AFI Top 100, coming June 20th on CBS
bob_barron replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
I remember a lot of people were angry about all the films that were left off. There were a lot of articles at the time criticising it. -

Hmmmm you're right- didn't see that at wikipedia. I wonder if the new list will cause the same controversy that the previous list did. -

Ben Hur had the biggest fall of any movie to remain on the top 100 -

I think with Star Wars they also basically meant the whole trilogy, since most people consider Empire to be the far superior film anyway -

I also don't remember them giving away the ending to Empire Strikes Back. Didn't they just only show Star Wars? -

I think 66 years more than exceeds the statute of limitations. Some 10 year old budding film geek is going to go through life knowing what Rosebud is, who Mrs. Bates really is and who Luke's father is before actually seeing the films, I just find that sad is all. I don't think it takes away from any of those films at all. -

Blair Witch would not have been on it. No way. Sixth Sense making it on there is terrible. -

22 films were dropped off. I was disappointed that once again, they ignored almost everything in the last 20 years. -
[14:42] Damaramu26: you know porter kind of misinterpreted what i said about the people at DVDVR. I do not dispute the fact that I responded to trolling there. I also don't like it there so I have no real drive to do much better. I loved it at TSM and I want to post there again so badly that I'm willing to change and accept a slew of concessions to do it. Anywhere from "never mention college football ever again" to "you're not even allowed to start a topic." i don't care. i'd do anything to post again at TSM and stay posting at TSM. fuck i'd give mole money if he asked. just thought i'd clear that part up [14:43] Damaramu26: i'm not disputing past actions or anyway i acted at DVDVR. that's for sure [14:43] harbert99: It's just a message board [14:44] Damaramu26: yeah but i'd been posting there for 7 years. it was fun times. it gave me something to do when i was bored and bored at work. and it was a good source of information. [14:47] Damaramu26: anyway. i'm just saying i'm more than willing to change and accept a list of concessions. wish i could let the powers that be know that rather than having to communicate through members of the board. oh well. you seemed to be against it but i thought i'd give you my stance on things. later.

As evidenced by him again whining about people at DVDR. He hasn't changed. I'm glad mike the admin weighed in on the matter

Choken One, Leena and Paul should've never been allowed back in the first place.
-
That was my bad. I remember a lot of people saying 2000 was a weak year for movies, especially coming off 1999
-
Czech did come off as a dick there, since he really doesn't know what he's talking about
-
See, it's always people baiting Dama. It's never Dama himself. I was skeptical of Dama's banning in the first place, but the guy is terrible and TSM's better off without him

Since 1996, the following movies were released before September and were nominated for Best Picture Fargo The Sixth Sense Erin Brockovich Gladiator Seabiscuit Crash Little Miss Sunshine No recent year has ever seen two movies released before Sept in the North America get a Best Picture nod

He has trouble doing simple tasks and has memory problems...yet he can drive a car. It's metacritic rating was a 73 which means generally favourable reviews. So it got good reviews, but not best of the year type. I saw Bug. It was one fucked up movie, and I still don't know what to make of it, or whether I liked it or hated it. It was really poorly marketed with a misleading ad campaign that really threw the entire audience off. I imagine it works a lot better as a play. It's partly the short memory thing. A movie will have a greater impact on people's minds if released in November then say February. That's not always the case of course, but that's just how the movie calendar is laid out. Janaury-April are where more modestly budgeted pictures go, May-August is popcorn fare, and the rest of the year is family movies and Oscar bait. His point was that Crash and Gladiator were the only movies to win Best Picture. He made no mention of nominations.

Live Free Or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) trailer
bob_barron replied to Epic Reine's topic in Television & Film
You're allowed one fuck. Motherfucker though is an automatic R-rating. -
The Star had an article about him playing well in the Finnish league and questioned if it was b/c he was no longer under media scrutiny. I think it was because he was playing in a glorified minor league
-
redbaron and CanadianGuitarist- can one of you change your avatar? It's freaking me out. I don't agree with a big shakeup the year you make it to the Cup Finals.
-
Rumour is that Melnyk specifically instructed Muckler to get Gary Roberts at the trade deadline, and his failure to do so sealed his fate. That's a dumb reason to fire him, given that they made the Cup Finals

Live Free Or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) trailer
bob_barron replied to Epic Reine's topic in Television & Film
His name is Douchebag. And yes, Die Hard requires Bruce Willis letting loose with the f word. And unless they got an appeal from the MPAA, he can't say his big line if it's PG-13. The PG-13 rating is such bullshit -
DOA's problem was that it had no starpower, no ad campaign, no screens and Kevin Nash.
