Oh. Nevermind. I thought she was black. Learn something new every day. It's not unusual for the Best Song category to be a bit wacky; double-dipping is pretty common here. Like Enchanted picking up three different nominations in that category last year, while Sweeney Todd got zero. None of the songs in Sweeney Todd were written for the movie. That's How You Know, from Enchanted, is a great song.

The only song I remember was the Paper Planes remix. The Bruce Springsteen song is so good, it made me want to see The Wrestler just by its use in the trailer. Shut up, Byron. Did you see The Wrestler? I don't like Springsteen at all, but the song was perfect for the movie.

I think it's hypocritical for you to constantly complain about megathreads, yet start a megathread yourself. I understand that, but you're only contributing to the cause that you dislike. I don't understand why we cram everything into a megathread. Look at all the coaching changes in the NFL- Tony Dungy, Gruden and Shanahan don't deserve their own thread? Really? It's a judgement call I guess, but I think if people are so anti-megathreads they should be willing to start their own threads.

Maya Arulpragasm= MIA. Good luck, presenter of Best Original Song!

Yes. It was easily the funniest performance of the year, and probably the most daring. If you don't get an actor playing this as good as Downey, Tropic Thunder's pretty much fucked from all the controversy. The line about him staying in character until the DVD commentary is almost worthy of the nomination itself. It was also a way of applauding Downey for his comeback, and for his performance in Iron Man. That's bullshit. I can't stop listening to The Wrestler, and yet it gets snubbed? Really? Weinstein is a master at playing the game. He always runs very aggressive campaigns and makes sure to get the word out there. Remember Shakespeare in Love over Saving Private Ryan? He got into a pissing match with Scott Rudin over when to release The Reader, and Weinstein won, so he went all out to show that he was right.

A 3.9 is great, given what they've been doing lately.

That's all they could come up with. What a farce. What else should've been nominated? Fly Me to the Moon? 3 films always get nominated for this category.
-
Nothing will top McAvoy hitting the guy in the face with the keyboard and fuck you flying out. Also, Winslet was nominated everywhere for supporting actress for The Reader. I don't have a problem with that since I guess she's the lead actress, I just found it strange.

I never read the comic book, so I don't care what they changed. Aside from TDK, I don't think I had more fun seeing a movie than Wanted this year. It was so refreshing to see an action movie that was happily rated R and was all about stuff getting fucked up. If it wasn't for the last bit of the train sequence, it would've been in my top 10 easily. I even saw it twice to make sure the first time I saw it wasn't a fluke.

Last nights show wasn't as good, as I felt Hurt being Michael's father was too obvious. Really interested to see what happens with the journalist next week and how he is connected

You hate megathreads, yet you yourself started a megathread in the sports folder. And you post in the sports folder, which is nothing but mega threads. I didn't like that the Campaign 2008 thread was closed the minute Obama was called the winner on Election Night. Not every state had been called, and the night was still going on and the thread just up and got moved with no warning.
-
It's because of Winslet and the Weinsteins. Seriously? He was in Burn After Reading and Step Brothers. I have no problem with the nomination. I didn't like The Visitor as much as most, but he was really good. And Jingus, Wanted was amazing. Don't hate.

Let's go to metacritic- The Reader- 58 Slumdog Millionaire- 86 Milk- 84 Button- 69 Frost/Nixon- 80 TDK- 82 That's basically the first 30 minutes of the movie. I was like: I get it, they have lots of sex. You see the kid's dick though, which I did not expected. Michael Shannon being nominated is awesome, but fuck you Melissa Leo. I see 119 movies and for once I thought I would see every film in the major category....but no.

TDK will win the sound awards
-
I think I'm the only one here who actually saw The Reader. Spoiler alert: It's not that good. Unless you want to see Kate Winslet fuck an 18-year old boy nonstop
-
Summerslam is the older PPV though, while the Rumble is the older tradition. So you can argue that, so hah!
-
Well that's not who get nominated! I like how the Academy is trying to overhaul the show this year to get ratings, yet somehow The Reader gets a bunch of nominations. And Bruce Springsteen AND Clint Eastwood getting snubbed for Best Song? Sucks to be Hugh Jackman,
-
The final 9 entrants will be Raven and his 8 new flock members
-
f4w.com-- Raw rating was a 3.9, as expected, best in a long time.
-
I continue to hate shootouts and Vesa Toskala. Great game though

To [sic] late. You can't call someone retarded when you use the wrong form of to.
-
Well we're getting closer to a win. That's something. I guess?

Who are you to doubt El Dandy?

I hate the thought of tanking a season. I want the Leafs to win every game, screw playing for a high pick. One of my friends at the Islanders game chanted John Tavares.
