Yes- He was joking. Norm Macdonald was born on October 17th, 1963- making him 40 years old. I think the CMAs really affected Hooper's ratings. Let's hope next week is better -

Yes- the mayor was Max Denby, Norm's boss on 'Norm'. He also played the father on Alf. WEDNESDAY RATING NEWS- CBS's Country Ways Wins Wednesday Fri Nov 7, 3:23 AM ET Add Entertainment - Reuters TV to My Yahoo! By Cynthia Littleton LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS won the first Wednesday of the November sweep by a country mile with its telecast of the Country Music Awards, which featured a heartfelt tribute to the late Johnny Cash (news). CBS' 8-11 p.m. CMA telecast, which originated from Nashville, delivered the award show's highest ratings since 1996. The CMAs won every half-hour of primetime time, finishing with an average of 20.8 million viewers and a 6.2 rating/16 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research. Viewership of the awards show peaked from 9-9:30 p.m. with 22.1 million viewers and a 6.6/16 in 18-49. The surge for the CMAs took a bite out of the competition. ABC hung tough with "The Bachelor" (13.5 million, 6.1/15) in the 9 p.m. hour, but even NBC's 10 p.m. stalwart "Law & Order" (16.4 million, 5.6/15) appeared to be dented by the turnout for the CMAs. Fox's "That '70s Show" (7.7 million, 3.7/11) was way down from the numbers it posted last week with its season premiere. The downtrend continued with the second outing of Fox's 8:30 p.m. freshman comedy "A Minute With Stan Hooper" (5.2 million, 2.5/7). Things perked back up for Fox at 9 p.m. with the new teen drama "The O.C." (7.5 million, 3.5/9). For the night, NBC placed a distant second to CBS in total viewers (12.6 million) and tied for second place in 18-49 with ABC (4.2/11). The boost from the CMAs helped CBS open up a wide lead against its Big Four network competition through the first seven days of the November sweep (Oct. 30-Nov. 26) with an average of 13.7 million viewers, which marked an 11% gain from its standing in last year's November sweep. CBS was pacing No. 2 for the sweep to date in the adults 18-49 demo (4.3/11), down 5% from its year-ago mark. NBC maintains the lead in the key demo with an average of 4.9/13, down 8% from November 2002 and is No. 2 to CBS in total viewers (12.6 million, down 8%). ABC is running third in adults 18-49 (4.1/11, down 15%) and in viewers (10.8 million, down 8%). Fox is in fourth place with an average of 8.5 million viewers (down 15%) and a 3.8/10 in adults 18-49 (down 18%). The WB Network has a comfortable lead over UPN in viewers (the WB's 4.8 million to UPN's 4 million), but the WB is off 15% from its year-ago benchmark, while UPN has dropped 11%. The who booked this shit chant was at ONE show and was a very vocal minority. It was also after ROH booked a dream match of Red v. Fleisch to go 6 minutes- so a portion of the crowd was upset. I'm a fan of ROH. Correct. It's because a lot of people are ignorant and don't know what they're talking about. Rob hit the nail right on the head- there are no perfect wrestling crowds. I went to a BCW show where a couple of fans were making fun of D-Lo for the Droz incident. Should we now think every BCW fan is a fuckhole?
-
It's called not going to the show or skipping out during the match. So people should skip ROH's biggest show ever, featuring a farewell to one of their biggest stars and a dog collar match just because they hate one wrestler? Please explain that one...
-
I'd love to hear this... How is it acting like it's big shit? By saying it's the best? WHAT ELSE ARE THEY GONNA SAY? You weren't at the show. Half the crowd liked London, the other half liked Dragon. They were chanting and getting into the match as it went along. The crowd WASN'T split during Rock v. Hogan Do you have any idea what the hell you're talking about? Did American Dragon get booed out of the building the minute he came out? No. In fact- he got a Welcome Back chant. Those fans sure are shitty eh? And the match got rave reviews and the crowd was into the whole thing. COMPLETELY opposite to the Jeff Hardy incident.

Vince does give them a mini-vacation. They get two weeks off at the end of the year to be with their families over the holidays
-
But Downhome- what can be done? They've reduced the hellish schedules from the 80s and they work a manageable 4 days a week schedule. Vince will send and pay for your rehab if you need it like he's done with various wrestlers. A lot of people in wrestling just can't handle the pain and sacrafices necessary and they turn to stuff that does damage to their body. It's sad but when you're on a Saturday night all alone with a nagging pain in your arm- sometimes you just need a way to escape...

EDIT: LPYC corrected himself

Vince can't monitor these guys 24-7. They need to be held accountable for their own actions. And as Mick Foley said in his book- it's very easy to beat a drug test. Vince can't go into everyones hotel room at night and say: William- you staying clean? If he notices warning signs- he'll try and do something like he did with Road Dogg and Eddy. It's sad that these wrestlers are dying but they need to be held accountable for their own actions

I don't know about you but I go to a wrestling show to have fun and see good wrestling. Would you rather I sat there and just stared? Go fuck yourself. Have you been to a ROH show? If no then please shut the fuck up and come back when you're informed. The ROH fans, like most wrestling fans, go to shows to have fun and see good wrestling. EDIT: There was ONE time when the ROH fans pissed me off. It was during a 4-way and Slyk Wagner Brown was moving a mile a minute to impress the crowd and he just did too much at once. He went to the top rope to do a SSP and lost his footing for a second. The crowd did a OHHHHHH noise and started chanting You Fucked Up. That did really piss me off but they shut up after a few seconds. Care to show examples where I'm biased? 1inch punch pretty much refuted that by showing the ratings for Night of Grudges and how I've said stuff was bullshit several times. I'm sorry that I recommend ROH tapes- it's not my fault they're good. Ask Paul London if he thinks the fans are big cunts- don't go making mass generalisations about a crowd of people. You'll generally end up being wrong

Vince IS giving Spike Dudley time off to heal. Spike's been having some neck problems and they immediately pulled him off shows. And I've showed you examples where Vince PAID for the rehab of guys who weren't even under contract. Ask William Regal about Vince not taking care of wrestlers
-
Good job Bravesfan- I was looking for it just right now

If Vince has enough money to pay himself and his children obscene pay per view bonuses, he has enough to cover his workers for a vacation. So WWE should take 2 months off while all these other indy shows get to run with 0 competition? I'm sure TNA would love the idea. A paid offseason is not really feasible. Lance Storm wrote a column about it.
-
But you just SAID that every sport drug tests as a way of saying WWE should. If Vince shuts down for 2 months and loses money- then the wrestlers end up making less money since he won't have the money to give them nice contracts. Downside guarantees aren't very much sadly. A lot of wrestlers make good money off house shows and merchandise etc. The wrestling business is not really meant for normal average Joes. You gotta have a bit of a screw loose if you want to be a pro wrestler.
-
A 2 month offseason is not financially feasible and wouldn't really help anyone make money. The wrestlers also make $ off gate reciepts and merchandise- so 2 months of no wrestling means none of that. Vince can't give a drug test to everyone- He has to trust his wrestlers. The not pushing muscle bound goofs thing is ludicrious. Vince: Sorry Brock Lesnar- you have a great physique, you're over and you're a great wrestler- but Crash Holly died so we're gonna put you on Velocity for a bit. Not every sport drug tests- baseball doesn't to the best of my knowledge.
-
He also took care of Guerrero too...he cleaned him up and took him back. That was cool of him. And he gave Road Dogg tons of chances. He also offered Jeff the chance to go to rehab as well. He also paid for Davey Boy's trips through rehabs as well
-
Vince has been known to be very kind when he finds out someone has a drug problem. William Regal credits him with saving his life. He also send other guys into rehab on his own dime. Vince can't babysit the guys 24-7. They have to be held accountable for their own actions
-
RIP Mike. His stint in TNA was hilarious- the Mikey gets mad videos were awesome. I loved the 24-7 gimmick- especially the FunTime USA one
-
I must've missed all the flaming remarks at you. I don't think Austin is the best ever or one of the best ever but the guy is much better then Shawn Michaels or The Rock. Austin doesn't have kip-upitis like those two though. And saying that guys like Perry Saturn are better is just ignorance. Saturn hasn't had a good match in years

Dames didn't call me and let me know about this. Asshole

The One and Only A Minute with Stan Hooper thread

Do I think Norm is the funniest guy ever? Yes. Is Norm my #1 hero in life? Yea. And I'll be the first to admit that Norm SUCKS at acting. But I will criticise him when he deserves it. His other show 'Norm' had a lot of stuff I didn't like. I never liked when they did romantic storylines, or when Norm had to act sad about something. (The acting) There are parts of Stan Hooper I don't like. Reagan Dale Neis for example- she serves no purpose. And I hope Max Wright as the mayor was a one shot thing thing since he looked awful last night. I also hope Norm keeps the people of Waterford Falls 'simple' rather then outright stupid. Norm had some shows that didn't rock the kasbah- and Stan Hooper will as well. (Well assuming it keeps going- which isn't likely) -
Because you're supposed to sell the finish of a match- it's an unwritten law in wrestling
