What a fucking bait-and-switch.

I'm guessing it was there mostly to show off pretty CG effects and how powerful she was. Yet I thought the x-gene, y'know, came to be only during puberty? And the whole idea of either group being able to so easily destroy the home without anyone else in the neighborhood calling the cops or something is just stupid. That is actually one of the most accurate scenes in the movie, continuity wise. In the comics (and the novelization) Jean as playing outside with her best friend Annie when Annie is struck by a car. As the driver flees, Jean instinctivley uses her power to go into Annies mind to try and save her. In the comics, Jean barely makes it out of Annies mind before she dies, and is rendered comatose for a short time before Xavier pulls her around.

Also about Mystique/Magneto...not only does he suddenly not care in the least about her, but she also has apparently become a "traitor" to beliefs she's held nearly all her life? Magneto was just showing his true colors- Mystique's one big contribution to the cause was her ability to infiltrate. With that ability gone, she was no longer any use to him. As for Raven becoming a traitor- the President said it best. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Everything she's done for Magneto, and he turns his back on her like that? Of course she's gonna do whatever she can to fuck up his plans, the cause be damned.

Just got back and enjoyed it a lot. My only complaint is that, reading the book before seeing the movie, I ntoiced a few things that were changed that should have been left alone- like Rogue changing her mind and not getting the cure, then comming back to stand gaurd at the mansion; Angel joining the team on the way to Alcatraz; and a few scenes that were cut out, like a flashback to the early days of the team and the Death of Annie scene.

I'm going to see it tonight, so I'll reserve my comments for later. Just as a note, though- Nightcrawlers absence is apparently explained in the X-3 videogame.

This whole episode has continuously topped itself on that honor.

Hope those are early effects. I saw moving skeletons looking more real in Army of Darkness.
