So what movies will you be going to see in 2007?
Tawren replied to CBright7831's topic in Television & Film
I will definitely see Spider Man and Pirates of the Caribbean. Stoked for those. And as much as I know it will suck, I will be there for the Simpsons movie. Probably not a lot else, though. -
Why? There were near full Chavo vs Rey and Finlay vs Benoit matches. Nothing else was really spectacular, but it had to be what you would expect. What were you expecting, really?

You know, it isn't anywhere near actually good, but watching Batista vs King Booker from Survivor Series, it really isn't anywhere near as bad as the reaction was. Perfectly fine and exactly what you'd expect. Kind of enjoyable, actually. Then again, if I'd paid for it I'd probably have a different reaction. Enjoyed Rey/Chavo I Quit and Finlay/Benoit from Judgment Day too. I hadn't seen either before but they were good. I liked the ending to the I Quit.

Dude...awesome write up. I can honestly say that reading that got me more jacked for this tournament than PWG's own promoting has. Very much appreciated. For the record, my pick to win is Kevin Steen.

My thoughts on the show: Really really really good, and I still have not seen a UFC PPV I did not like. Not a single one of the 5 fights were boring, in fact all of them were really good. Nate Marquardt was way more impressive than he was against Salaverry. GSP vs Penn was my favorite fight of the show and I'm glad GSP won. I thought he definitely pressed Penn enough to win the 2nd and 3rd rounds as it seemed all Penn could do was counter, not get in any offense. GSP's huge slam was incredible. I cannot wait for GSP vs Hughes II. Franklin vs Loiseau was way better than I expected it would end up after the first round. After the first I thought Franklin would knock him out sometime in the second, but to his credit Loiseau never gave up and actually lasted all five rounds. When Loiseau shocked Franklin and knocked him down in the 3rd (I think) my friends and I were going crazy as it seemingly came out of nowhere. Credit to Franklin for dominating the fight and Loiseau for not giving up. $40 Canadian is the most I'll pay for these shows though. If the price goes up again to 45 or 50, I'm going to be done watching them (or at least only order once in a while). I don't understand why the price went up. One of the main reasons I stopped watching WWE is that the PPV's are damn expensive. Hopefully UFC doesn't keep raising the prices.

I thought that last nights episode was by far the best episode of season 2. I haven't been enjoying this season at all but this episode was really good, and it is no surprise that it focused more on some of the original characters. The ending with Charlie and Sawyer talking in the jungle was crazy and I honestly did not see it coming. Ana Lucia still sucked and I cannot wait until she dies. She has been the worst thing about Lost since she was introduced.

Dogbert, I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, but I think you are completely mistaken. Maybe one of the calls was a "phantom call", in this case the holding the stick on Leopold. BUT there is no good camera angle for it and the ref is right there. As far as the overtime penalty, Bertuzzi is clearly tripped by Leopold. The leg is right there. I don't see how that can be disputed. And the Canucks only scored the overtime goal because Phaneuf just stood there blankly and Kiprussoff did a comically hilarious fall while Morrison put it in an open net. I think the problem with the reffing comes from the rules. The refs are pressured so hard to make tons of calls that they do screw up once in a while. And to be fair, where are your complaints about the total non-call on Bertuzzi in the first, or the stupid no-goal call for the Canucks first goal? And again, to be fair, if the Flames had better penalty-killing (6 for 10 in this game) aside from Yelle, they likely would not have lost. As far as the Lightning being a one hit wonder, that may be. But keep this in mind: they won. The Flames didn't win anything. They have something to prove too.

The Penguins fired head coach Olczyk (sp?) and the assistants and have brought up the Wilkes-Barre coach. Can't say I agree with it, though.

The Conservatives are so goddamned dumb that it is impossible for them to gain seats. The only changes I see coming are a few more for the Bloc, a few more for the NDP, and a few less for the Libs and Cons. I agree with what CanadianGuitarist said. "We're not the liberals" is all the conservatives have. This whole thing is a retarded waste of time.

My problem is that I just cannot stand the other fans sometimes. I've gone to a couple of Calgary Flames games this season and sat about middle of the second deck, so the normal seats pretty much. The bitching about the refs, phantom calls, and often complete lack of knowledge of the game from the people beside me made it almost impossible to watch the game. I guess it is inevitable when you have a hot team, but I just can't stand the people who are not real fans and don't understand the game but go and yell out stupid stuff. On the other hand, when you have good fans around you, it can be a really great experience. Unfortunately for me, with the fan situation how it is with the Flames and how expensive tickets are, I am going to be passing on attending any games for a good long while. Live sports are often a lot of fun, though, because you can see the intricacies and the game often comes across a lot better than on television. There have been many many many better rugby matches played than what I saw in Edmonton in June for the Churchill Cup (USA/Argentina, Canada/England, USA/Canada, Argentina/England) but because I was there live, these are some of my favorite games of all time. So basically, my answer is yes I like going to live games but if the fans suck, it can ruin the game.

Brad Ference, not Andrew. Andrew Ference is on the Flames. I'm not being a prick, I'm just correcting for the sake of accuracy.

Why are there goddamn polar bears on the island? What happened to Jack's fathers body? What is the "monster"? Why was the psychic so worried about Claire's baby? Who was Ethan? What happened to the pilot? Was it the monster? The security system? When Locke said he "saw the eye of the island" (maybe it was heart) when he caught the first boar, what was he talking about? Did he see the monster/security system? Why were there corpses in the caves? How the hell did a pirate ship get so far in-land? Why have they not gone back to it? Why does nobody feel bad about Arzt's death? Is Locke smart or lucky? How did he know how to make the drug for Boone? Does Roussea have anything to do with anything? Why have they not gone after her? And these are just off the top of my head. Few of these will be answered, ever. But yeah, this episode was great - Ana Lucia is so TOUGH.
-
Ana Lucia's boring ass backstory took up way too much time. Regular folk meet the tail end folk was all that happened, and I really cannot be assed to think of why that matters when I don't give a shit about any of the tail enders. And I know you are going to respond with how deep this episode was, RRR. It wasn't. They just keep putting off answering questions and make up new ones and hope we'll forget about the original ones. And the occassional answer they give is lame as all get out (Boone on the radio is talking to Bernard, for example).
-
That was the shittiest shit that ever shit. Ana Lucia sucks. "I'm tough, I have a deep voice, I'm really tough, I'm tough". WOOPDIDDY SHIT. I'm getting really tired of nothing happening. It's obvious they have no idea where they are going and are just hoping that we forgot most of the many mysteries from season 1.

My thoughts: Jeremy Horn vs Trevor Prangley was a fun match and I'm glad it went all three rounds because nothing else except the terrible heavyweight match did. I was very impressed by both fighters and thought the decision could have gone either way. Hopefully these guys keep appearing in the UFC because they are both very talented. I don't think many people liked this match but I felt it was good. The Announcements: Mir vs Arlovski? Awesome. Couture vs Liddell 3? Neat-o, and I guess they have to do it quick before anything unexpected can happen. Ortiz and Shamrock? That will be crazy. And BJ Penn? The welterweight division is STACKED. Georges St. Pierre vs Sean Sherk was a very good match. GSP is scary good and he dominated this fight, I felt. The finish was crazy and I loved his interview. "Hughes beat me fair and square, sorry, fairly squarely." GSP vs Hughes 2 will be great. Matt Hughes vs Joe Riggs was what I expected. Riggs is good, but Hughes is incredible and he showed why he is champion. I wonder how Riggs missing weight threw him off his game? Who knows. The heavyweight fight was the worst fight I have ever seen, ever. It was purely embarassing and I am glad it was not on free TV because it would be so damaging to the sport. Hopefully neither man is brought back. That was just terrible. The only redeemable thing was the announcing, as Rogan was hilarious going off on these losers. Rich Franklin vs Nate Quarry was way shorter and more lopsided than I expected. Quarry got KNOCKED. THE. FUCK. OUT. If Nate Quarry falls in the woods and nobody is around, does he make a sound? The answer is yes: "TIIIIMMMMBER!" Holy fuck indeed. The preliminary matches were okay but nothing special. Overall, I enjoyed the show. I cannot wait for 2006, though, because it looks to be crazy good.

22. He cries all the goddamn time.

Thanks man, I'm watching right now.

Ana Lucia: "I'm not lost." Damn fucking straight you aren't, bitch, now get your no-talent piss poor lame ass character and acting the fuck off the show. Aside from her character and anything she has done at all (if you didn't catch my drift above, I feel that she is absolutely terrible) this season, it has been a good show. But man alive do I hate her. "I'm a tough girl with a deep voice. MOVE! Come on! Boy am I a bitch! I'm not attractive at all! MOVE OUT!" Just getting that off my chest.

Back in 2000, I went to WWE No Way Out at a Famous Players theatre in Calgary. After the show, they changed the station (they were receiving the image via satellite and projecting it onto the screen) to porn. This chick was giving a guy a blowjob. They cut the image off after about a minute. I thought it was funny and left, but many parents were complaining. A week later, I got two free passes to Backlash in the mail. How did the theatre know I was there? To this day, I have no idea.
-
I just got tired of it. They're never going to do something that will entertain me, so why bother watching? I have better things to do. I can't even be bothered to write out a good explanation. It sucks, I got tired of being disappointed, I stopped watching, and I moved on. Their loss.

Never heard of Taco Johns, but between Taco Time and Taco Bell the winner is Taco Bell by a mile.
