Who was made to look silly at WMVIII, thanks to a late run-in by PAPA SHANGO
-
Well I was really into Terrorvision in their prime (they were pretty successful over here for a while), but it's one of those album I hadn't listened to for ages, then remembered how much I liked it.
-
Well, I can't get much lower than being in the "irrelevant" section of TSM's Greatest Brits. I hope...

The problem with Ooberman was that for every truly great song (Blossom's Falling, Shorley Wall), they had some TERRIBLE records (Bees and Sugarbum), which made you want to really hurt them. My housemate loved them, but he's liked a lot of poor indie. Some bands who never quite made it: Far- with so many modern bands remorselessly stealing their sound (Finch, Hundred Reasons etc), it's really sad that the greatest band of their genre BY FAR are long forgotten, only remembered by a select few Ruby Cruiser- should've become huge on the UK. Wrote fantastic indie songs and their semi-concept album "Twelve Short Stories", about life in a small backwards town, was clever and funny in equal measures Liberty 37- A staggeringly overlooked band who, inspite of fantastic reviews of both their albums, never managed anything more than a small fanbase. Lead singer Ishmael (who is one of the nicest musicians I've ever met), not only had a great, versatile singing voice, but wrote really intelligent lyrics, backed up by a band who could be pretty heavy when required, while still knowing how to keep the melody in the foreground.

If he's goes, especially without Parlour, then their central midfield is pretty weak. Indeed, they've been struggling to find a midfield for their recent friendlies. Of course, since it's Arsenal, I hope their midfield keeps getting worse and the Gooners find themselves freefalling down the table. Hey, a guy can dream

I couldn't agree more, especially if the band in question is posing in a "I'm a meaningful artist" way On the other side of the "wearing band t-shirt of artists you don't listen to, to be cool" complaint, one of my housemates, knowing how much I love the man, bought me a Phil Collins t-shirt for my birthday from eBay, which I now feel silly wearing, simply due to the number of people who've come up to me, thinking I was wearing it ironically.

WildCard Pick: Shadow Of The Vampire. AWESOME performance by Willem DeFoe, helped in part by some incredible make-up, as a vampire who is cast in the movie Nosferatu as the vampire, with all his co-stars believing he's a really good method actor. Really intelligent black comedy which is much better than I've just made it sound.

God, that was difficult. Managed to combine a nice mix of Tottenham players, ex-Tottenham players and Welsh internationals, not a good mix for success, but captain Robbie Keane is going to win me this thing

"Joya Magica" by the 60ft Dolls, which was released after they split, for only £3. Really good album, much better than the time I saw their lead singer do a solo acoustic set to 35,000 wet Catatonia fans in Port Talbot. Also got the Probot album, which is pretty good. Gotta love the Lemmy track and the presence of Lee Dorian of Cathedral (one of the only bands I can say come from where I live, the other one being the Specials)
-
Funeral For A Friend (Welsh emo-core band) supported by both The Haunted (Swedish thrash metal) and OneLineDrawing (solo acoustic niceness) was pretty strange Rachel Stamp (androgynous glam-rock loved by 14 yr old goth girls) supported by Grand Theft Auto (dreadful Oasis-esque indie)

What's the loudest band you've ever seen live.
DCMaximo replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in Music
Strangely, the answer is Bennet, a middle-of-the-road Britpop band, who for some reason had their sound turned up to a ridiculous level of volume. I've seen Chimaira and Pitchshifter in the same venue, and they were pretty loud, but fucking Bennet were deafening. -
I saw one at a beer festival once that said "If You Can Read This, The Bitch Fell Off". It looked REALLY impressive on a fat, balding man with a ponytail.

At the moment: 1.Sweethearts (REALLY good film, where Janeane Garofalo proves she really can act. Bit of a dark ending too) 2.Dogma 3.Turner and Hooch (always up there) 4.Mountain Of The Cannibal God (Stacy Keach+naked Ursula Andress+midget cannibal castration=good film) 5.St Elmo's Fire

Talking of going up, who do you guys tip for promotion this year? In all three divisions? I'd go for: Championship: Leicester, West Ham, Coventry (Monkey Head Reid is amassing a decent squad this year and I think they'll surprise a lot of people...and I hate Coventry) NEW Div 1: Bristol City, Walsall, Hull City NEW Div 2: Swansea (hey, if they maintain last years decent performance, it could happen), Yeovil and Notts County (my soon-to-be-local team)

I think spiny norman is Australian.

Fair enough, Plagiarism IS pretty awesome. I think he's the only man who hates some of the dreadful music coming out of Britain (Franz Ferdinand, Keane) even more than me.

Im half-English, half-Welsh. I support Wales in all sports, but I currently live in England. So yeah, I'm British.

3 Colours Red were awesome, as I was expecting, and the new stuff sounded incredible live. Also, the crowd was small, but very loud all night, which made the gig a lot of fun. The support act, Bitch Alert, were pretty good too, in spite of their awful name, and the lead singer was damn hot, which was a bonus.

51. Carrying on from what deancoles said, repackaging Lenny and Lodi as XS, while giving the viewers no explanation as to why they weren't gay anymore 52. Pointless cruiser matches, when the winner wouldn't advance up the card (eg Lizmark vs Super Calo) 53. Jobbers on Thunder- did anyone really care about Mike Enos vs Jerry Flynn? 54. Not pushing Scotty Riggs enough (can't put enough emphasis on this one!)
