  1. That's a bold statement. He's not going 1, 2, or 3. Do you think Seattle's going to freak everyone out and try to grow some defensive balls? That's an interesting scenario, actually. If Seattle picks another DL I'm gonna lose it on this team. OL, CB, and TE are the priorities that this team needs right now. TE? Don't you have John Carlson?
  2. Just wanted to pitch in about the mock, if the Bears' secondary is so awful (agreed), wouldn't the better move be to get secondary players? Sure, our line sucked last season, but it could be attributed to a bad season, and nothing more. We probably could use a pick on replacing Ogunleye since he'll be getting older, but Alex Brown, Mark Anderson and the others on the roster should in theory step up. DE isn't our #1 overall need. We need QB, RB (since we're gonna run Forte into the ground sooner than later), WR, OL, LB (Urlacher is getting older and ailing like a senior citizen and Hillenmeyer isn't a starting LB), CB, FS (to replace Mike Brown eventually) and SS. That's too many needs to be using the top pick on a DE.
  3. Two possible scenarios I'd like to see used with the MITB: For the sake of the fantasy booking, I will use wrestlers as examples for the type of character that is best fit for the storylines... 1. MVP, in middle of his losing streak, has in a way, won a spot in the match by fluke. He wins the MITB also by fluke. However he deems himself ready to challenge for the championship, using the MITB shot. He picks the first sign of the champion, Triple H's vulnerability, but Triple H regains his form and retains the title. MVP has crapped out here. Humiliated, he goes in hiding for a few months. He reappears with a renewed sense of focus. He shows off the serious side by scaling back on the showmanship that might have distracted him in the past, and he is seen as slowly rebuilding his credibility. This might be coupled with a babyface turn when he shows that he isn't down for the usual heel tomfoolery that he has been involved with in the past, and he enters the Royal Rumble, and wins it. With the Royal Rumble shot, he goes to Wrestlemania, and he captures his first World championship in a good match that shows him off as finally being ready to be a championship level wrestler. 2. Shelton Benjamin has won the MITB. He announces that he will not exercise his shot any time soon. The WWE scales back on the promotion of his MITB victory, to the point it's nearly forgotten. Shelton is pushed as a guy on the cusp of being a main eventer. He has some good feuds with upper midcarders/main eventers which he is allowed to look strong. He enters the Royal Rumble, and wins it. The focus is on his Royal Rumble victory as they build to a Shelton/Triple H match. At the show, Shelton begins by battering Triple H badly with weapons, to the point Triple H cannot continue the match. He is however, awarded the DQ victory. Shelton simply restarts the match, having NOW cashed in the MITB shot. He goes for the simple pinfall to win the championship. If the WWE doesn't want the fans to go home like this, they can either have a face win the other title in the main event, or have a babyface win the new MITB that night, and cash it in the same night, to take away what Shelton worked all year to accomplish.
  4. Why did The Rocket get credit for the first 13 weeks in which I kicked ass in? In fact, he blew it in the playoffs. I stay, you're talking about Atlanta in the KKK Bowl instead of San Francisco.
  5. Except for that small detail of... that Marino had ZERO run game to complement his passing attack. Peyton had Edgerrin James and Joseph Addai to take the slack off him.
  6. I already spoke to Czech earlier about this. I was going to do this after the 10,000th post, but after the really really really dumb debate about the college football bowl championship game, I feel that after five years of being on TSM, I've come to a sort of stagnation as far as who "Porter" is. My reputation has been well established, and really, I guess it's time for me to be on my way. Thanks folks for allowing me to be part of this community for the past five years. Do what you want with this thread or whatever.
  7. Ok, sorry folks. I'll decline the bowl invites from now on.
  8. While I don't agree that the Rose Bowl decides the other half, Texas beating Ohio State doesn't hold as much weight as USC beating Penn State would or Penn State beating USC would, considering both USC and Penn State already have beaten Ohio State this season.
  9. Yeah? I want to hear your analysis on that. Am I stagnant?
  10. First of all, I'm not attacking his confidence. I'm attacking the idea that he needs to defend his team every year before they shit the bed. Their last bowl victory was in 2005, over a decent but not elite Oregon team, quarterbacked by Ryan Leaf's kid brother. Forgive me for lacking the same confidence in Bob Stoops and Oklahoma. That said, I have no investment either way. If Florida wins, they win. If Oklahoma wins, they win. The game I'm invested in is on January 1, on ABC.
  11. And in the same vein, can't I be confident in Florida's defense? It goes both ways.
  12. Orange, because I like VT and Cincy. Alabama/Utah will be intriguing until we all figure out how much better Alabama is. It won't be as bad as Georgia/Hawaii hopefully, but it'll be ugly. I don't care about Texas/OSU because it's a pretty obvious game. Rose will be good, just to see if PSU can score. (I hope they can) You also have to consider that OU's defense has gone up against offenses that can put up points, maybe not on the level Florida is (since they're #3 in offense) but still it's not like an offense that can score and move the ball will be a huge shock. And let's not forget that Florida has not faced a team on the same planet as OU's offense. Not even in the same universe. So we'll see how they react to the best offense they've seen all season. Once again, it's going to be a high scoring game that will probably come down to turno.....wait neither team turns the ball over. Hell it'll come down to who has the ball last. 2003 LSU Tigers say hello to the 2003 OMG GREATEST OU OFFENSE EVAH~! Oklahoma Sooners. Remember them? The 2003 Sooners that had just lost their last game 35-7 to KSU? I remember them. What does that have to do with this year's OU team? Is Jason White going to lead OU out on January 8? Because Dama talked them up big time then. And he's talking them up big now. Both will end in disappointment at the hands of a SEC defense.

  14. Would make sense too, what with his house burning down. He could equate being a World champion with earning the money needed to rebuild his life. And the WWE could do the ironic turn on the fans by having them predictably boo Jeff for this.
  15. No, the supposed (fake) storyline had Kane being cremated or attempted to be, on Raw before Mania.
  16. The richest country in the world, in terms of Gross Domestic Product per capita, Luxembourg And no, no one can borrow money from me.
  17. I'd say let some of the ongoing drafts wind down, but who knows if by then the whole fad of drafts die out.
  18. I'm surprised there isn't a draft for TSM posters, without the purpose of gang warz.
  19. I laughed thinking about it. So yes, it is hilarious. Now should they? No.
  20. Fair enough. I like the idea of world leaders draft, deities draft and makeshift weapons draft. Maybe "method of death" draft.
  21. edit: nevermind. Damn TI throwing me off on the order.
  22. But how can one judge the drafted teams of fags? Who is more flamboyant?
  23. The thing is, there's a fine line that you have to be mindful of when it comes to loyalty to players. Yes, it's right to replace them when they no longer retain an usefulness to them, or becomes a problem like Manny, or whatever, but you know, it's easy to sit there as a winner and say players are totally replaceable. What happens if they continue this practice, and the team starts mismanaging themselves right out of contention? They'd lose goodwill with any prospective players that they might go after, because of their practices. It's why, in my opinion, that a lot of players in the late 90s, early 00s chose New York over Boston, because New York shows a strong sense of loyalty to guys that perform for them year in and year out, and even throughout their decline. Sure, that loyalty makes the Yankees slightly less successful compared to the Red Sox who changes their players like their socks, but Theo isn't going to always call the trends correctly, and when it starts to backfire on him, it's just going to collapse the whole thing. Of course, I may be wrong and the Red Sox finds a way to change their front office personnel like socks.
  24. When it comes to handling one of their most recognizable stars and a long time locker room veteran/leader's retirement? Yes I'd bet on a long term plan.
