Not really, because it would establish Benoit as a legitimate contender. If he takes the job at the hands of Lesnar, why is Lesnar going to agree to facing Benoit?
They'yre already building Benoit as a legitimate contender, beginning with the Smackdown show last week. He single-handedly takes out Cena and Train in their tag match, then comes out during the main event to make the save against Lesnar/Show. Who knows what they're planning to do with the next set of shows, to build up the contestants for the match.
If Lesnar wins by nefarious means, that's the catalyst for Benoit's "you're nothing, you don't deserve that belt" feud.
True, but I hope that's not the premise of the feud. I would rather them go at it for the title for a simple reason of Benoit wanting the belt because its the last thing he needs before he can call it quits. Or something to that effect. It'd get more people involved in the angle.
