I liked this week's show alot. It moved better than the last two editions and seemed more like an event. My thoughts: The opener was a fun match other than Red blowing all his spots. Sabin is awesome and deserves a real push and Skipper is decent as well. I'm so mad that Kazarian has gotten lost in the shuffle however, as I was really enjoying his character prior to AJ's return to the X Division. The squash match was eh. I want Simon Diamond back! I've tried to give "Irish" Pat Kenney a chance, but I miss heel Simon. I understood them wanting to put Monty over here since he's being elevated to the World Title Scene and at least they gave Kenney more offense than they gave Siaki. I really liked the AMW/Team Canada match. Those teams worked really well together and I'm sure that suplex spot impressed a few newer viewers. I'm glad they appear to be gearing up to push Team Canada in the tag division and I say they should strike while the iron is hot and put the belts on them. The Jarrett/Zbysco promo was better than the Jarrett/Dusty promo because you can still understand Larry. I liked that they used him as the judge this week, so they can start to put over that it could be anybody. But does being the judge mean that you have to get El Kabong-ed by JJ? If so, I definitely wouldn't want the job. I like the ME event as well, but I'm a mark for AJ and D'Lo, but separately and as a team and I like Abyss as well. Hell, Dallas is even growing on me. The match was well done with each guy looking good. The post-match beatdown did a good job on putting heat on the respective matches for the PPV, which is the point of the show. I was looking for Erik Watts to come to the faces' aid, but that was not to be.

I don't believe so. The only time I've seen the commercial anywhere on TV was during a recent RAW, which I'm sure was TNA's doing. I don't understand why Fox wouldn't run commercials on the network, its not like it would cost them anything. And God knows they run enough ads for I, Max.

AND WE GO BACK ON TOPIC...according to Da Meltz, Rodman's appearance is a one-off deal, which makes me feel waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy better about this company. Here's the quote:

I guess this is the first bi-product of the association with Fox. It's an interesting move. I don't know the guy, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not fan of 3 man announce teams. TNA's announced improved sooooo much when they dropped Ferrara from team.

I'm at work and won't be able to watch until I get home, but I figured I'd go ahead and get the discussion rolling. Here's today's line-up, for those of you who haven't seen the other thread: I can't wait to see this show. From the line-up, it sounds like it was the best show since the debut. I'm especially excited to see what AMW/Team Canada can come up with and I'll admit, I mark for D'Lo. It'll be interesting to see how they address the World Title situation after all the heat they took for Wednesday. I'll definitely be watching as soon as I get home.

Not that I'm defending bringing in Rodman, but I would say I wouldn't order any shows with him on there either, but if I had a match from the Styles/Daniels series they are talking about, I'd order and then come on here and bitch and moan about Rodman. I'm sure that's what they're going for. Guys like us will order to see the kick ass match and guys like him will order to see Rodman. That's about the only attempt at sense I can make of this move. And it's a stretch, I will readily admit that.
-
Holding off debuting Hardy on Impact is a smart move, IMO. A) It makes people who didn't order the PPV feel like they missed something and Hardy fans who heard he would be in TNA, and thus watched Impact, will have to watch next week's show as well, giving them a chance to become hooked on the product.
-
I wonder what they are going to do with him. Should be interesting to watch.
-
Three of the four matches should be quite good. Looks like they've left time for a Russo promo explaining the title situation, but hopefully that doesn't open the show. Still no Raven though? Bad TNA And here's hoping the AMW/Team Canada match is sooo good that it leads to an extended program like the original AMW/Simon & Swinger match did.

Can someone who's read the spoilers for this week's episode please post the matches in here.

Gilberti still draws decent heat. And he's not featured in a big time role like he was last year, so I don't have a problem with it. In fact, he's been quite funny in his leprechaun role. After seeing the show get crapped on, I actually thought I just enjoyed it because I was there. It was their best show, but it wasn't the horrible mess that people are making it out to be, IMO.
-
Maybe its because I was there live, but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The atmosphere for Hardy/Styles was incredible and the DQ didn't piss me off because they almost had to keep them both strong if Hardy is going to be around any longer. And it didnt' hurt that I had that pegged as the finish from the Kash interview earlier in the night. And the ME was very good IMO too. Everyone was on there feet the whole time and I didn't feel cheated by the finish at all. And if anyone had a right to demand a clean finish, it would be me, consider I drove 200 miles and back in one night to see the damn show. But honestly, I wasn't pissed at the ending at all. I just wanted to watch Impact to see where they were going with it. I know it's a totally different perspective in the arena, especially considering my excitement at it being my first TNA show, but I gave the show a thumbs up. Great crowd, good action. My only complaint immediately after the show was the sorry Raven segment, but I understand now that he was sick. Was it the best TNA show ever? No. Was it horrible? No. Did it make me want to see what was going to happen next? Yes.

Good news for TNA. Now if they could just get those DVDs in stores....
-
I'm sure they'll end up bring Steiner in, but if they're just going to relive his 2000 feud with Jarrett, I'll pass. Now, if they're going to bring him in and build him up before feeding him to someone like Monty Brown or Abyss, I'll be all for it.
-
Very true indeed.
-
Yeah, that is very true. I wonder if Truth would be leary about working with him. I think I'm just intrigued by the match up since its fresh blood to the ME scene, but we all know that if they ran that feud, it'd just take a back seat to Jarrett/Russo part 89.
-
Yeah....if they go ahead and put the belt on Truth (which they should), D'Lo will be a great person to use to get Monty up to the ME level after a credible feud. After seeing this feud begin, I'm thinking more and more that they are going to put the belt on Truth, because I can't see them sacrificing Monty to D'Lo, as much as I like D'Lo.

Voice, this is the reason for the lame tribute, according to Meltzer:

This show was the first TNA show I’ve ever attended, and while I don’t know how it came across on TV, it was absolutely fantastic live. I brought 2 non-fans with me and they both enjoyed themselves so much that they now plan to watch Impact to see if Truth is given the title. Now, my random thoughts: Seeing what the Asylum looks like on the outside made me further appreciate the work the staff has put in to make it look halfway presentable on TV. It’s a freakin’ garage! I thought I went to the wrong place and had to ask someone if this was where they held the wrestling events. Once I got inside, I was stunned by how professional the set looked. Since the building is so small, it’s the first thing you see when you walk in the door and it took me by surprise. Does it look as good as the Universal Arena? No….but it looks 20 times better than it has any right too be. There was a line to get in to the show and the house looked pretty packed, but they only let people with wrist bans indicating that they paid into the post-show party and judging from that, only about half the people paid. I'd estimate the attendance between 800-1000. All the section were full I believe except the very top of the camera side bleachers. I don’t know how it translated to TV, but the crowd was hot all night long, especially for the Truth. The Xplosion matches were, of course, short and sweet, but they got the crowd going. Prime Time and Chris Sabin, Team Canada and Sabu all appeared. I’ll admit it, I marked hard for the Canadian Destroyer live. The PPV started with AMW coming out to a mixed reaction and Team Japan coming out to no reaction at all. In person, Miyamoto still comes off a Tajiri rip-off. Little “let’s go cowboy” and “let’s go wildcat” chants here and there, but not much else. Death Sentence got a pop, however. The Trinity/Desire match was loads better than I thought it was going to be and Vito appearing at the end was a nice surprise. Because they fought over to the side opposite to the big screen before going outside, most people missed the finish and weren’t aware the match was over until Trinity’s music started playing. Lynn/D’Amore was fun and got some heat, but it was long and the crowd kinda died in the middle. The came back for the end though and popped big for the cradle pile driver, however. Lots of Jerry chants in the beginning. And I let out a Holy S*** when D’Amore busted out the moonsault. The mini’s match was great comedy and the crowd enjoyed it. David Young was greeted by loser chants and Posey hitting the dropkick was met with a loud pop. I couldn’t believe how over D-Ray was. I guess it must be something that doesn’t translate to television. AJ coming out for the X-Title match set the stage for the loudest reactions of the night. Once Jeff Hardy’s name was on the screen, the place went nuts. Lots of dualing “AJ” and “Hardy” chants. Jeff even got a “He’s still got it chant” at one point. A few Team Xtreme signs were in the crowd, so I believe there wasn’t much of a surprise for some of the crowd, but most people had no idea Jeff would be there and where happy to see him. The World title match was fun as well. Truth was super over. Lots of Truth chants, Suntanned Superman chants and You Can’t Handle the Truth chants. Jarrett was getting something of a pop too, as there was a small Let’s Go Jeff chant. Fans counted the pin with the ref and celebrated the win, but groaned as Russo walked out. I believe the show ended with Dusty telling Russo to make the right decision, because they rolled the Xplosion listings on the big screen after that. After the camera’s stopped rolling, Borash said he knew and everyone else knew that the Truth was the new champ and Jarrett just kinda shook his head. James got on the mic and said the same thing, and led a loud Truth chant. Then everybody went to the back and they kicked out all the freebies. They then brought out a cake and Borash introduced the wrestlers one at a time. The ones I saw before I left were: AMW, D’Lo Brown, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin, Elix Skipper, Sonny Siaki, Desire, Trinity, the NYC (in their humiliation get-up), Kid Kash, Dallas, The Naturals (in the AMW ring gear). The wrestlers all dropped character and signed autographs and took pictures. Skipper kept joking about how he looked on the TNA Picture Pack as he was signing one of them. I got D’Lo’s autograph, took a picture and brought an AJ Styles shirt. All in all, a great time was had by all. If I lived near Nashville, I’d go every week, but since I don’t, I’ll try to go at least once a year until they start traveling and come to Atlanta (or DC where I’m in school). I hadn’t had that much fun in a long time a wrestling show and I’d recommend that every TNA fan who can do so, take the trip to the Asylum or the “Impact Zone” once, even if you have to drive a little. It’ll definitely be worth it. Biggest Pops: Jeff Hardy AJ Styles Ron “The Truth” Killings D-Ray 3000 (wtf?) Biggest Heat: Jeff Jarrett Scott D’Amore and Team Canada Kid Kash Funniest chants: You’re a B cup to Scott D’Amore Little Lesnar to one of the jobbers in the Team Canada Xplosion match You’re still short to the taller mini after he made fun of the shorter one

I was there, and the pop he got was off the charts, by far the biggest of the night. I couldn't even here myself think for the "Hardy" chants. Of course, AJ got his share of support as well, so this was definitely the match of the night in terms of crowd reaction. The TNA audience is entirely different from the RoH audience.

While I see Kash's point, IMO it's not very professional for him to say so publicly.

Here's an update on the Hardy situation Credit: PWInsider.com Hmmm....interesting. Him appearing on Impact would be good for casual viewers, but if that means he's signed a deal with TNA long-term, then that's decided bad, unless he's improved incredible in his "free" time.
