NICE! Eagles got Justice without giving up the three. Fuck yeah
-
Come on now, 10 minutes in the studio?!? Thank god the Eagles are kicking ass or I'd shoot someone. ESPN isn't even updating the trade page on their website.
-
Winston Justice at 39 for the Eagles? Nice.
-
Ignoring the 38th god damn pick of the draft?!? There is no excuse for this shit. Fuck ESPN, fuck NFL network, christ can someone please provide coverage that shows each pick being announced? Already reiterating first round shit? Fuck. Well I feel better now.....for 5 minutes

They really need to dump the Dan Reeves segments, they add nothing to the table and just get them behind. I'll give both some leeway for the requisite Tagliabue farewells but time to get back to business.

Packers trade with the Broncos for a 2nd round pick? Walker?
-
With his freefall Winston Justice had to be one of the guys that failed the drug test, right?
-
God bless the Redskins starting to mortgage next year's draft already. This year's 2nd, 6th and next year's second to move up for McIntosh
-
Great coverage on both channels here. Falling behind two whole picks into the 2nd round, kudos to both channels. I am surprised how little Faine brought in. I would think a solid starting C could bring more than a 9 spot bump in the second round.

So much for the Antonio Cromartie rise over the past week or so.

Apparently Dave Spadaro is confirming it will be Bunkley on the Eagles website. I can't believe how perfectly this worked for them having the guy they were rumored to go up to 8 for falling to them. It also saves some picks in case they make a real run at Walker. If Bunkley is announced the rest of the day is gravy as far as I am concerned.

I'm still trying to figure out why a lame duck GM is being trusted with a draft where they are the no.1 pick. Showing off that no. 1 pick may have helped to lure in a bigger GM candidate.

The thing that I am most amped for about this draft is even if it goes chalk, it will still be interesting. If it goes as chalk as this will get: Bush, Ferguson/Williams, QB, Ferguson/Williams, Hawk you will have the story about at one of the QBs falling and questions about if Cutler will leapfrog the remaining one. If there are trades that is always fun and if someone goes off chalk it opens up new possibilities.

So should we open up a seperate draft thread for the weekend or just use this thread?

Sacrifices count against the OBP and not the BA. God it is depressing how many of the hopes lie in the shoulders and elbows of two 20 somethings. Is there a bigger boom or bust minor league system out there right now than the Phils? Edit: Forgot about your boy Carlos Ruiz. At least one other bright spot going on.

The idea of the 30+ touch back is completely overhyped, as every analyst brings up this mythical creature when none actually exist. The most active RBs get around 400 touches a year (25/game), there are no 30 touch a game RBs. We know he can handle a 20 touch workload and even if he can't eke out those extra couple he still produces enough in those touches that it really doesn't matter. It is a question, but he is a strong runner for his size and in the grand scheme of things this is a rather small problem. That is a question every player has to answer, not just Bush.

What exactly do you want him to do? He sets his ratings and they bring him in knowing that. He isn't like Mort and Clayton who worry about what is going on around the league, he has his own ideas about players and works accordingly. And like it or not, he knows what he is talking about. Is he right about every player? Of course not otherwise he would be the GM of a perennial championship team. I never got the Kiper hate, he is good at what he does (knowing every player and being the face of the draft essentially). Or is it just because he is all over a USC guy and someone like Mayock with Cutler as EHME mentioned above is fine?
-
You might want to make it snappy, reading on another board it looks like he will be in Scranton in two rotations. If Floyd and Cole keep doing what they are doing for those couple weeks you might not have many more chances after the first to see him.
-
So far in his AAA debut Cole Hamels has gone 6 IP (88 pitches 59 strikes, 29 balls), 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 BBs, 12 Ks. I am trying to resist the urge to scream to bring him up to the majors, but god damn. EDIT: Final line - 7 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 BBs, 14 Ks. He struck out everyone in the lineup at least once.

It won't be Hatcher, he hasn't hit anything in months. I think Carter going after him was sufficient "retaliation". Most people realize it was a clean hit, Carter still had to stand up for his teammate but that was enough for that type of play. If Gauthier gets him lined up, then of course there will be a little extra in it but I don't see them gunning for him. Besides, reportedly Brashear is out for tonight's game in favor of Ben Eager.

Ladies and gentlemen, the next Keith Primeau. The Flyers training staff is a complete disgrace (for previous evidence please see Kim Jonsson's "sinus infection"). After the way he was acting you can not tell me he did not at least have a mild concussion, which should immediately park him for the next week. There is no reason to risk a quality, young players future in the first round of a questionable teams playoff run. Dear Jim McCrossin please get hit by a bus and burn in hell.

He seems to be in the second tier of QBs, second or third round, he is getting hurt by a deep QB class. Has anyone heard anything about Jai Lewis' workout? I think he had a workout day yesterday, but I haven't seen anything about what he looked like.
-
I am interested to see what their coverage of the draft is going to be like. If their second day coverage actually covers what is going on, as opposed the the ESPN coverage that skips all the picks to go over what happened in the first round over and over, then I am there. That Mayock guy doesn't seem to be too bad in the Kiper role, plus they took on Corey Chavous. I enjoyed the perspective of a current player who is a real draftnik, as opposed to when they had Romo on a couple years ago "uh...yeah the guy is a tackle and um.....I hope he is good."
-
I think that may have been who Spiff was talking about and just mixed up the team. Unless I am missing a hit.

If the TE is the best option among the needs, sure.
