The Evaluate Each Other's Fantasy Team Thread
the pinjockey replied to MrRant's topic in Fantasy Sports
Rant: Agree with LaParka. Drop a kicker and get the best remaining RB, probably garbage but you need to stash at least one extra at this point. I would field offers for Palmer. Obviously it would take a big deal, but if someone will give you a good RB for Palmer (maybe package Jones with him to do it) and put him with Alexander you are set. cheech: Yeah, that's a pretty ugly start. Especially if you aren't PPR. With you WR depth I would try to swing a 2-for-1 deal for an upper tier WR and prey someone is stupid foolish to bite. I would probably move Hasselbeck if someone would give up a legitimate no. 2 RB. That said, I have little regard for QBs this year since so many are on the same level. My team from a draft last night. 10 teams, PPR, pick 4, * means keeper eligible for next year Eli Manning (7th round) Vince Young * (11) Tiki Barber (1) Reggie Bush (2) DeShaun Foster (4) Lawrence Maroney (8) Deuce McAllister (9) Randy Moss (3) Santana Moss (5) Chris Chambers (6) Braylon Edwards * (10) Vernon Davis * (12) Ben Watson * (13) Jeff Wilkins * (14) Dallas D * (15) -
Because he would fuck pretty much everyone up. He schooled Hugh Douglas last year when that whole thing went down. He is a bit of a prima donna, but he is also a fucking nutjob that has the ability to snap I think.

For Mark Simoneau and a 4th (becomes a 3rd if the Eagles resign him) Great deal considering Simoneau is a "great trade, who'd we get" player. A 4th for a guy who put up 70/945/7 last year is a great deal. I actually prefer that to a Branch for $30+ mil and a 1st or 2nd rounder.
-
There really is nothing you can do with him. Look at his time with the Eagles. He was the star of the first training camp, was treated like a hero, had McNabb willing to play sidekick to him and slobbing his knob whenever possible, and was getting more looks on the field then he could ask for. He had all the attention he could ever want and still the first time McNabb tells him to shut the fuck up, it's over. The Cowboys are good enough they should just dump him now and count their blessings they found out about him now instead of in week 8.

During the time period of this film he was more along the lines of the no nonsense tough guy. He was notorious for being a hardass in his first couple camps. I don't think he really started to cry, publicly at least, until they started winning and he could give the "I'm so proud of you guys" type speeches.

It was good. Wasn't "Miracle" good, but more in class with "The Rookie" (depending on which sport you like more, you'll probably like the movie similarly). There was just too little to work with to make it a great sports movie. Once you get out of the training camp scenes, there aren't many game scenes given he was only a special teams player. One unforgivable sin: they got the Eagles fight song wrong. The fan opens it Fight, Eagles, Fight instead of Fly,Eagles,Fly. That may seem anal, but you can't do a movie based around die-hard Eagles fans and then do that. If there were rights issues (the song was copywrited), then you don't do the song.

I hope the game last night puts an end to all of the "Bring back Duce" whining that has been going on around Philly last week. Look at how Buckhalter ran the ball, then look at Duce. One actually hit holes, the other just kind of lumbered and then fell into them. I will admit though, even I got a little tired of Theisman's run as the Buckhalter fan club's president.

I am more along the lines of nogoodnick's thinking. It certainly isn't a fact he will go anywhere and be a nutjob, but with his contract I would not be willing to risk it. Looking at it, that is a very polarizing trade. If you think Randolph is salvagable, it is a deal you jump on yesterday. If you don't, you avoid him like the plague. Not really much middle ground, IMO.
-
Looking from the Sixers point of view, not a chance I do that deal. At this point the best thing they can do is just ride out Webber and Iverson. Rebuild once those contracts are cleared, don't drag out the process by moving them for longer deals.

I am a little concerned about this start (beyond the obvious 9 runs in 2IP). Can't watch it, but everywhere I am following the game says that Hamels just had nothing today. Three previous seasons, he combined to pitch 152 IP (including just 51 the past 2 seasons total), while this game put him at 141 IP on the year. I can't help but fear he may be getting to a tired arm point in the season. Hopefully just turns out to be a bad start, but the description of his stuff has me worried.

Agree about Utley. And if you think my pointless add-on was just an excuse to segue to the following, well you would be correct. From Pat Gillick in SI: Dear Pat Gillick, blow me. The point of taking a shot at the best Phillie over the past decade was? He could have just made the Utley point without the Abreu shots, instead of trying to justify getting nothing in return for him (no hidden agenda in that quote at all, honest). I also like the fact that Chase is such a leader that they had to jettison Abreu to show it?!? If he was truly a great leader shouldn't he have nutted up if he didn't like the way things were running while Abreu was around.

They traded their 2007 2nd rounder to move up for Rocky McIntosh. So that is their 2nd and 3rd right there gone already. On the bright side, since the picks are tied to this deal it means they can't trade their 1st or 4th in another deal.
-
Washington really does not believe in the draft Three team deal Atlanta gets: Ashley Lelie Washington gets: TJ Duckett Denver gets: Washington's 3rd round pick in 2007 plus If Washington is worse than Denver - they flip 1st round picks (potentially huge) If Denver is worse than Wash - they get Washington's 4th round pick in 2007 Denver and Atlanta both make out like bandits here IMO. Not a huge Lelie fan, but for what appears to have become a spare part in Duckett he is a solid haul. Denver gets two picks for a malcontent (not TO level or anything, but enough of a headache for his production). Washington meanwhile gives up a solid to potentially huge haul depending on how their season goes for a backup to Portis? Unless Portis is going to be out for half the season this makes no sense and even then they still gave up too much.

I think busting on the Bush run is silly. He made a nice cutback upfield behind Newman. The run after catch deep in Dallas' zone was also nice. He was not the be all end all they were likely hyping him as, but let's not overlook the good things he did just to make the point. Overall, he had a tough day against a good defense.
-
Looking for some opinions here: Who would you keep in this scenario? Frank Gore or Chris Chambers. Rules of the draft are whoever I keep becomes my 8th round pick, so both are a value there. I have the number 4 pick in a 10 team draft. Option A: Keep Gore (now a no.1 RB, on a bad team) Draft Tiki Barber Use rounds 2 and 3 on stud WRs (with the way RBs fly I should get two out of Smith/Johnson/Fitz/Holt) B: Keep Chambers Draft Barber Take lower tier RB in round 2 (Dominick Davis/Westbrook/maybe Reggie Bush) Stud WR in 3 Basically, do you think there is a bigger difference between Gore/2nd tier RBs or Chambers/Stud WRs?

Given the fact this happened it obviously means more than nothing to him to retire as a Niner. Why should anyone begrudge him that?
-
They are still in the race, plus they really didn't give up anything. He is a FA after the season, so no commitment to money for next year. Plus, I think they wanted to get Mathieson out of the rotation and didn't like any of the available options.
-
Jaime Moyer is a Phillie. Sent for two prospects. I like the deal just for the fact they will likely get Mathieson out of the rotation now. He is clearly not ready and he doesn't need to get Gavined.
-
A suggestion: turn it off at halftime
-
He was fine for what he was until last year. He knew the system, didn't make big mistakes and had just enough arm strength to make some throws. But he looks to have lost that little bit of arm strength that allowed him to be a legitimate player.
-
It hurts to say, as I am a big fan of his. But this Koy Detmer farce really needs to end. I don't care if Timmy Chang isn't what you would call passable as a QB, he is still as good as Detmer and gives something that can be considered upside.
-
Who's next in line? No way they bring in Madson with Gordon on the shelf. Mazone? Germano? I can't see them trying to rush back up Floyd this season. Happ? His deception maybe buys a few decent starts through the end of the season before the league catches up.
-
It doesn't hurt that Scott Mathieson is pitching. He is just not ready for the bigs. All he has right now is a fastball and even that eludes him at times in the majors.
