  2. Can you show me where these posts are?
  3. I put this collapse squarely on the shoulders of Jim Johnson. How Joselio Hanson spends the entire second half one on one with Plaxico Burress is inexcusable. I know they don't like to play the #1 WRvs.#1 CB, but come the fuck on. Either start zoning up, put Brown on Burress or just start with the complete sell out blitzes.
  4. Gotta love Clarkie's response. Love him or hate him (I have been on both sides of that line), he is right http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?id=177368&hubname= As for the whole world coming to an end, salary structure thrown out of whack arguement; Kim Jonsson making 5 mil per kills that IMO. When he was offered that contract that system proved to already be back to the pre-lockout days, so it's bs to play that card here. I look forward to seeing how far the other GMs want to pushy their pissy attitude. If Richards and Carter, the aim of the retaliation, play to potential they are going to cost multiple 1st rounders plus an unmatchable contract (they would be matched on any remotely feasible deal). Are other GMs really going to get into that heavy of a pissing match just to spite Clarke?
  5. The key is the first team DLine getting off to a quicker start. They can't dick around this week, have the Cole line go in needing to provide a spark and then decide to show up. The Giants won't give back the momentum as easily as Houston did. Also, Matt McCoy needs to show up again. If he can control Barber out of the backfield as he did in week 1 (won't stop him, but might limit him) that will be a huge relief off the secondary not having to look in on him. If the OLine plays as well as they did in the first game (Andrews is a monster, just needed to throw that in), I am not too worried about the offense. They won't put up huge numbers, but they will move the ball enough to be in position to win. If week 1 Tapeh was the real deal, they will surprise the Giants with the improved running game. He was everywhere making blocks.

  7. For that extreme of example, I think that would depend on when the move is. If you are still young enough to not be totally invested then switching is ok. Adults, suck it up and keep your pride. For me it was location. South jersey is an adopted philly area. For older fans who picked up teams when the Raiders and Cowboys were on as much as the Eagles I can buy picking up one of them. Weak arguement can be made for the Giants, since they are in NJ. But as long as they call themselves NY, they shouldn't get NJ credit. IMO, there are only a couple reasons to switch. - Moving - Continued upper level managerial incompetance (if your team sucks, suck it up. But if the ownership is continually inept or just money hungry, see Braman's post FA Eagles, then you can switch. But if that is the reason, you switch back if the team is sold) - casual fans in non-affiliated locations can switch whenever as long as they don't play the die-hard card *steps off soapbox*

    NFL - Week One.

I love fans sometimes. All preseason it has been "oh our RBs are injury prone, what happens if/when one goes down". Then the Eagles keep 5 RBs (one who is going to be the PR and another who will be the KR) and all of a sudden it is "oh those morons, why are we keeping 5RBs instead of keeping Darnerian freaking McCants". Maybe the FO knows that the RBs are injury prone and want to keep something just in case. Christ they conned a draft pick out of Seattle for Josh Parry (is Seattle's GM a drunk?). Maybe they can get the benefit of the doubt today.
  11. His three year splits prior to this year don't really lend to a lefty/lefty advantage either. vs. LHP: .284 .336 .376 .712 vs. RHP: .229 .302 .395 .698
  12. Time for a riddle: If a pitcher is left handed, but is pitching worse against lefties, should you force feed him into lefty/lefty matchups? If you answered yes, you too can manage the Phillies. Long winded way of saying Arthur Rhodes blows.

    NFL - Week One.

Hank Fraley traded to the Browns for an undisclosed 2008 draft pick. Is that center number 7 or 8 for them this offseason?

    NFL - Week One.

Did. As well as Omar Jacobs in Pitt. Great move leaving early there Omar.
  15. I believe they do. If it isn't covered in the league rules, then it goes to a arbitrator. That is how the Owens v. Eagles matter went down last year. Remember the arbitrator giving Owens a 30 odd page bitchslap.
  16. They would probably consider that Keyshawning him, if they just told him to go home. So that is out. I am actually interested to see how this grievance turns out. Granted I don't know how you can prove they promised a trade (unless there is something in writing which would be too stupid for a FO as smart as the Pats). But on the assumption it is true, a market has been set this past week with Donte Stallworth. If I am Branch's agent, I trot out their comprable stats and show he fetched a 3rd and Simoneau (using a 3rd instead of the 4th, because it becomes a 3rd if Stallworth signs and Branch would sign in this scenario). All of a sudden a real case can be made that a 2nd is fair, maybe even above market value.
  17. I hope they blow out Temple, just so I don't have to read anymore stories about them. You know what, you can do stories about the rebirth of the program when they actually you know win a game. With Penn State's rise and a legit Rutgers team (Ray Rice and Brian Leonard are a great 1-2 punch at RB), the amount of pub Temple gets compared to that is amazing.
  18. Is it wrong that in a perverse sort of way I am looking forward to watching Temple/Buffalo tonight?
  19. Off ROY: Matt Leinart. I think he steps in much earlier than expected, given how quickly he has picked up the system. And throwing to Boldin and Fitz will really help a stat line. Def ROY: Broderick Bunkley. Likely much higher on him than everyone else, but I have not seen him moved backwards once the entire preseason. He has been going against double teams often and still controls his area of the line and penetrates. I actually find myself hoping Mario Williams plays well enough to earn it. I still think they should have taken Bush, but I'd like to see him justify himself so we won't have to hear about the comparison forever.
  20. Harley: Why not drop Davis instead? At least Morency looks like he has a chance to do something this year. Davis looks done I like that trade a lot, giving you a legitimate lower end no. 1 QB and a starting RB, plus a replacement for Boldin. I like Boldin, but getting three players that should go right in your lineup is too good to pass up.
  21. Don't really know enough about the Jets backups to comment on winning/losing, but so far this preseason for the Eagles Garcia has been pretty awful, the backup RBs (after Buckhalter who has been terrific) have been pretty bad and fumble prone, and the backup Oline has been a bit of a sieve. However, the second string defense has played well (especially the DLine). Don't count on any of the first teamers playing significant, if any time. May need to find a Jets fan to find out about there backups to compare. If they have been good, I might lean Jets.
  22. Eagles just made the biggest move of the preseason, bringing Heather Mitts back to the team (along with aj feeley) on a two year deal. They also cut Koy and Pinkston. As I said earlier in the thread, as big a fan as I was of Koy's it was just time. He could serve a "Doug Pederson" type role if a team had nothing at 3rd string and wanted someone to help the starter learn the WCO. Otherwise it is time to hang em up. Apparent now that Pinky never got to 100% and therefore he was worthless. He'll catch on somewhere (possibly Minnesota given Childress + lack of WRs).
  23. Not together with his contract demand I don't think he is. I like him, but he hasn't had 1000 yard season. Plus, as lame a reason as it may be if the Patriots are willing to let him walk, that raises a red flag. They seem to know what they are doing. I'd give a 2nd, maybe a first if you are likely drafting 25 or later. Otherwise it's just too much. That's why I think NE would jump on it.
  24. I think NE would jump all over that. Not to sound like this is rubbing it in or anything, but that has a very good chance of swapping from a mid-late 20s pick to a top 5 pick. They could build in some safeguards just in case (extra 3rd or 4th if not in the top 10 for example). If Deion Branch can get you in the top 5 you have to do that.
  25. Hank Baskett will still be no. 2. I can't see Reid throwing Stallworth in there as a starter without a couple games in the system. Since when does an old fat guy represent 'pretty much everyone' in the NFL? I never said he represents everyone in the NFL. That is just my opinion with the Douglas example following. TO is a jacked 240 pound man with psycholgical problems. Reportedly he was ready to go after McNabb and had to be calmed down. Am I crazy or is that a pretty scary idea? He is bigger than most LBs in today's game and not much smaller than the new breed DEs. At this point we can just agree to disagree since it is a hypothetical that will never.....most likely never be realized and we'll just go in circles.
