  1. Do you think that because you don't like him or do you not think that because he is a TE? If you just aren't as high on him, that's cool. But looking at what TEs are bringing to the game now, there is no reason to not draft one in the top 10 if that is what it takes to get an elite one. If you wouldn't use a top 10 pick to get someone that can bring the same offense firepower as Antonio Gates you're nuts.
  2. I don't know if Holmes or Jackson last that long though. I think they are setting up to take Davis at 6 and this lets them address the defense as well with someone who can step in right away.
  3. I like the move on the Niners end. This draft is deep enough and they have enough holes that there are going to be some players at 22 worth moving up for. I saw someone spitballing on another board about packaging the 6 and 22 together and seeing where that gets them, but I can't see a team in the Niners shape gutting a draft like that. They aren't just one player away. IMO, it is a good deal on the Broncos end, contingent on it setting up another deal. Either using the extra 2 or 3 to snag Javon Walker or using the picks to move up from 15 if they are targeting a player. Otherwise, I am not a fan of moving that far down for just a third rounder.
  4. The goaltending is the least of my concerns with them. Esche and Nitty have some crappy numbers because the defense has laid down like dogs in front of them most of the second half of the season.
  5. The Flyers team is maddening to watch. If Hatcher can provide some physical play, him and Gautier (who I know will provide some physical play) can slow down the pace of the series throwing it in the Flyers favor. However, if the defenseman continue to back into their zone letting Afenegenov fly all over the place it is going to be a long series for Esche. With the emergence of the Carter-Umberger-Niko line providing a second scoring option and Gautier really stepping up for them, I'll go with the Flyers in seven, but I wouldn't put any money on it. Haven't seen many of the other teams at all, so I won't bother spitballing guesses.
  6. Seattle's time has run out so we'll give them Ray Edwards, DE, Purdue Steelers are on the clock Since only a few people have responded for round 3 I think we'll call it a day after this final pick.
  7. I am glad that the Phillies got Aaron Rowand. Finally, someone who plays the game the "right way". Of course, right way means diving at a ball that you have ZERO chance of getting to, but hey it got him a standing ovation and showed that lazy Abreu how business should be handled. This mini-rant brought to you by Philadelphia fans who feel free to give Rowand a pass for his first two weeks of butchery in CF, yet jump on any chance to boo Abreu like last night on a misplay. Followed by a mock cheer when he later caught a ball. I have joined al in hatred of Philadelphia fans.
  8. Just a heads up, if we do go forward the pick clock will be lowered to 6 hours to make make it certain that the 3rd round is finished before the draft.
  9. Just screwin with you. Got to get some kind of frustration out about being trapped at work on the first really great spring time day we've gotten.
  10. It is going to be enforced, I was thinking about even pushing it down to a 6-8 hour limit which would increase pm usage.
  11. I find myself rooting against the Flyers tonight as if they win the division they get the Devils which would be a death sentence in the first round (home ice or not). Sadly, I have to root for a Rangers victory tonight as that guarantees either NY or Buffalo. Of course if the defense does not learn how to stand people up at the blue line it really isn't going to matter
  12. Time is up on Jax so we'll give them - Brian Calhoun, RB, Wisconsin and go on Denver is on the clock So how many people are actually interested in sticking around for a third round? I'll keep it going as long as there are enough people to make it interesting (8-10 posters at least) instead of just two or three people taking ten teams a piece.
  13. I think you underestimate Brooks, Warner, and Bulger. They aren't QBs that are going to lead their teams far, but they aren't bad enough that they will stifle someone like Davis. Losman has to improve, but it is hard to write him off already when it was essentially his rookie year last year. Don't get me wrong, he isn't going to end up in a good team situation. But for him personally, they aren't terrible options.
  14. I think, at worst, he will be a very good TE. At best, I don't see why he can't dominate at TE or WR. I don't see why, with his speed, he couldn't transition to WR if a team already had a TE (looking at you Eagles). He is essentially a TO clone when it comes to size, so he isn't too big for the position. If he goes to SF, then of course he will be hurting early on given he would already be the number one option, but that will be the case for just about anyone. Otherwise, everyone else drafting in his range has some offensive weapons: Oakland (Moss), Buffalo (McGahee,Evans), Detroit better not go offense but they have the Williamseseses, Arizona (Boldin, Fitz), St. Louis (Holt, Bruce, Jackson). As long as he avoids that 6th slot he will be going to a decent situation for himself.
  15. Thank god Dr.Z is around to let us know about his sleeper, Vernon Davis http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...index.html]link , this just in Reggie Bush is going to be a high pick as well.
  16. You are right that there is no way he falls this far, but don't discount the fact that it seems like there is always at least one player that plummets somewhat. The next two picks pm'ed them to me Giants - Claude Wroten, DT, LSU Chicago - AJ Nicholson, OLB, Florida St. Carolina is on the clock
  17. I'm going to suspend the clock for today, forgot it was the holiday. KC is on the clock until noon tomorrow.
  18. Time has passed on Washington so they can have Roger McIntosh, LB, Miami KC is on the clock
  19. They ought to just give Favre the bonus right now anyway, that'll eat up some cap room. I'd rather do that then spend the absurd money Arrington is looking for or spend anything on Charles Woodson. Waste money this year, but leave long term flexability. They could always resign Javon Walker as well and give him a big year one number.
  20. I almost took him for the Eagles, they need an heir apparent to Rod Hood at nickel (I consider the nickel CB a starter in this era), but the need at OLB was just too big.
  21. San Diego obviously wants Jonathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina Minny is back on the clock
  22. For the sake of a last ditch effort we'll give Atlanta Kelly Jennings, CB, Miami Minnesota is on the clock
  23. Don't know if this was directed at me or just restating what I stated earlier. If it is directed at me for not keeping it on track, it is more than fair. I just saw it turning into the same thing that happened last year, got a little pissy and said fuck it. If it was just restating, well the above still stands just think of it as an apology instead of a response. That sentence made sense in my head, I swear.
  24. More and more I am thinking I am going to have to make a trip to Reading to see Hamels when he comes up. What he is doing is just stupid in Clearwater (11 IP, 5 hits, 2 BBs/16Ks, no runs). Plus I need to see the greatness of Tim Moss right now (14Ks in 22ABs with a nice .000 BA).
