It's going to depend on what the Yankees do with the rotation. They'd definitely need another starter because Hughes, Wang, Kennedy, Mussina, and Igawa ugh, ain't going to cut it. The thing with Papelbon though, wasn't he a reliever coming out of college? Although he did translate well as a starter. Well, hopefully this is all avoided by Rivera signing.

Not sure. I wouldn't mind making him a closer for another year. It would prolong him as a starter (well he'll at least pitch less innings than he would have). I don't know how it affects a pitcher though in the long term if he were to become a starting pitcher. If it's not Joba, I don't know what direction the Yankees take.

So you think he's nice because A-Rod got the same money he was going to get from in the beginning? He got A-Rod nothing. A-Rod was getting this money regardless.

Bonds has been indicted!!! Anyway, I think it's a little weird that everytime I see the A-Rod contract getting close to getting done headline, the money keeps growing. First it was 270, then 275, now I see 280. What the hell? And I really hope the Yankees are doing that just to mess with the Red Sox.

Hamilton is not a very good defender. He may have improved but he's still not close to being as good as Kobe. You're telling me that a team with Billups, Kobe, and Sheed won't at least make it to the Eastern Conference Finals? All of them are very good at both ends of the court. They're comparable to Allen, Pierce, and KG because they can defend those players.

What's the Kobe/Rasheed dynamic? They don't lose much defensively. Hamilton is average at best, and Prince is good, but Kobe is a beast. They still have Afflalo, and Stuckey and they can put Kobe at the SF for some games. Offensively they'll be nasty.

That's a pretty good trade both teams.

Hank doesn't think before he speaks, but he does have a point. The guy is like 38 and he wants 4 years? When Wagner, and even Posada got those contracts, they were/are younger than he is. 45 million at 3 years should be enough.

It's basically 2 more years. About same amount of money per year though.
