What I loved about their harmonies is that, to me, they're not going for that perfect unison ala CSN&Y, one or the another might be a half a step behind, as if they just decided on the spot "hey let me join in and sing too", it lends to their of-the-moment quality I enjoy- I intend to pick up Stage Fright sometime soon.

I recently bought The Band's first two albums, Music From Big Pink and The Band, and I had already been familiar with a few of their songs but, wow, this is some of the most stripped, laid back beautiful music I have heard is so long. Maybe it's just current music (certainly popular) doesn't attempt the arrangement or inner reflection these songs have. When I'm listening to it, I get a sense of a group playing in the moment, letting the song guide them vocally, lyrically and musically. I'm sure there are others here who have great appreciation for their work and feel free to discuss their work. And if you haven't discovered them yet, do yourself a favor and give them a chance.

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread

What was that ending LOL -
I always had a new spin on the Batman Mythology that I thought would work great as a series- "Gotham City"- dealing with a varied group of people (youths, families, careworkers, street cops) and the dealings of their lives, the crime and crisis that plague their city and the strange rumors and sightings of a 6ft tall vigilante dressed like a bat, and of course the steamy gossip of playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne. See make Bruce Wayne and Batman the background so your story comes out of what would the regular 9-5 people think living in Gotham City with this guy and these incidents happening around them.

Gee....Bret continues to live the day over and over, wasn't Bret the one who didn't want the DVD to focus on Montre....*Muffled screams as I'm carted away by the WWE-Police*

Have a question for everyone here across the board, but being a Cincy fan through all the years and having memories of Superbowl XXIII watching the 49's come back (great as it was) and dash the Bengals in 89, to see this team, constantly called (including by myself) as 'the Bungles' shape up over the last 2 years and turn out this season and claim a playoff appearence for the first time in 15 years, I'm curious as to what is everyone's opinion of the Bengals playoff wise and how they've done this year? I never see much Bengal talk around here (outside the couple of diehard fans here, sorry I'm blanking on the names).

No Dancing for Chad LOL I love it!

The 40 Year Old Virgin, really, that's kinda cool- Still consider Batman Begins the best film I've seen this year
-
It was a beautiful damn film I'd say more but it was a long movie and I'm tired

It's obvious the Globes are a fraud and this should prove it I mean- "Munich" nabs a Best Director nom for Spielberg, yet the film is only now being screened and it doesn't show up in any other categories- proof if you ask me that no one from the Hollywood Foreign Press Agency saw Munich (and don't get me started on the quagmire that is the HFPA) but couldn't stand to not nominate Spielberg for director (though if they had seen the film he'd probably been nominated as "Munich" is getting the buzz that "Million Dollar Baby" had last year) It's ridiculous, say what you want about the Oscars but at least you know who votes for them and the nominations usually makes sense.

The irony of that essay is that Lewis himself was very religious (see the whole bruhaha over "Narnia"'s religious subtext)- and in fact many church groups are going to this film ala "Passion"

Just got back from seeing the film tonight, I don't remmember reading the book though I've been familiar with the story- all said it was a very enjoyable fantasy film with fine performances by the 4 children, and Tilda Swinton as the White Witch was great projecting evil, and honestly I think her work deserves consideration for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. And Aslan the Lion came to life very well, the climactic battle did not bring up too many LOTR memories, I think because the battle was a lot brighter (not soft, just shot in more light and with more colors I thought), plus there was a wider variety of characters and creatures fighting, the ending got a bit rushed and might confuse some people given what happens if they're not familiar with the story. Anyone else catch it this weekend?

I know I just watched Leno in the hopes that Ron would mention it (the beard works for him, all balding men need beards to even out the loss of hair) but no he was just shilling Cinderella Man in his "please don't forget my movie at the Oscars, I didn't throw the phone remmember?" shtick. -
Haha That was great, Bre was really underrated at promos, never felt scripted just a real guy saying straight what was on his mind- I like guys who could do promos like that in fact every current WWE star should be forced to take a promo class with Ted Dibiase & Arn Anderson in getting the crowd riled up and making a point on the mic.

I would love Cena if he started saying "Ain't no thing like a Chicken Wing on a String"
