The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread
Der Kommissar replied to Insane Bump Machine's topic in Video Games
I had the same angle with Edge, Thankfully, the line made much more sense when Edge said it. Anyway, I am loving this game so far. I picked Charlie Haas, and I am doing quite nicely through season mode. At the moment, I am caught up in a female manager angle, as my CAW work in progress Yukiko Katayama and Torrie Wilson are fighting for my services. It is a fun little angle thus far. It even has continuity as, at the beginning of the season mode, I picked between the two in a beauty contest. I am going to naturally assume this is going to end up in some sort of bra & panties match. It would seem logical since I am guessing they brought it in to use in more than just exhibition mode. Now, I just wish I could figure out what happened to Shelton Benjamin. After he and I lost the tag belts, he just vanished and I ended up teaming with Edge. It seems kind of silly to have a tag partner just vanish into thin air. EDIT: I was getting a little worried there that these storylines were too good for the WWE, then BAM, they have the US Champion job to a girl! Way to go, game! -
I try to look at it optimistically. At last with those two in the main event, I can go to bed a good 10 to 20 minutes earlier on Monday night without the fear of missing anything.

People or things in sports that make you feel old
Der Kommissar replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Sports
For me it has to be when I heard about some football or basketball player in his 9th or 10th year and I think, "Wow! I remember when that guy was in college!" Plus, I now recognize most of the newer coaches from their playing days. Coaches used to be way old guys who I thought retired from playing way before I was born, but now they are players I remember from when I was in grade or high school. -
Well, in the cases of the Aztecs and Incas, it would be provide some balance for the students. In almost every history class I have ever taken, the Aztecs and Incas were portrayed as sympathetic characters. They were portrayed as helpless native tribes who were killed and enslaved by the heartless and greedy white man. They almost always gloss over the fact that the Aztecs and Incas were bloodthirsty conquerors themselves who were just as bad or worse than the Spanish who conquered them. It would be nice if history classes put more emphasis on the fact that Aztecs and Incas were bad guys, too.

I have a quick question of my own here. In one of my leagues, there is a huge debate going around about this trade that keeps getting proposed: Ladanian Tomlinson for Moe Williams and Anquin(sp?) Boldin. Anyway, as Commissioner, I keep rejecting the trade because two people think it's a lopsided trade, and I tend to agree with him. So, I felt I should ask a neutral opinion on this: Am I overrating LT? Am I underrating Williams and Boldin? Is the trade fair or as bad as I think it is? I just don't see how this trade could be a fair one.

Well, to be fair, this was a down week for my team, as I had 5 players on bye weeks. Unfortunately for me, those 5 players were my starting QB, my best WR, my kicker, my other starting running back, and another WR who is usually good for a TD(unlike Plaxico who was good for one catch and 5 yards this week.) Plus, I had like three fumbles which was -6 right there. The mere fact that I am winning at this point shocks the hell out of me. Next week should be fun as my defense will be on a bye week. Of course, I am hoping the rest of my team will step up, I also have to choose between Chad Pennington and Patrick Ramsey as my starting QB. That should not be fun at all.
-
Sadly not. Luckily I signed Tim Duncan(No, not THAT Tim Duncan) instead. Of course, with Duncan as my kicker and Penningto as my QB, I am screwed this week.

And it gets worse.... Damn. Danver can't seem to catch a break.

Robin Hood...how strangely fitting.

I always used to love the Shawn Michaels is returning rumours. It would always get the Shawn Michaels fans all pumped up, then he wouldn't come back. When he finally did, I felt kind of sad for all those "newzboard" writers because they lost on their most common baseless rumours. While not really a rumour, per se, I always loved it when the NWO would return. Every time they came back, a bunch of nWoites would suddenly come out of the woodwork and proclaim that wrestling(or WCW) is saved because the NWO is back! During the times of NWO Silver, some were even proclaiming that it would be the end of the WWF because the NWO will crush them in the ratings and Vince should fold up shop now to spare himself the embarrassment. Seemingly overnight, the boards I posted on would be full of them. Of course, once the NWO inevitably failed, they usually vanished as quickly as they came. It makes me almost sad that Vince will never bring the angle back, as I always laughed inside when the nwoites dispersed after the NWO's inevitable failure.

Wow. That'd be a pretty big coup for South Florida. If memory serves, I was reading awhile back that they are a pretty new team to division one football. Heck, in my NCAA football 2003 game, they are listed as an independent. To rise from that to potentially getting a BCS bid if they can field a good enough team is quite the great move. Props to them.

With my last round pick, I choose Jerome Moiso F Toronto.

I have seen it. I would have to agree with UYI about Skeletor. He hasn't done anything memorable to really make him seem like a bad ass threat. Every episode that I have seen with Skeletor has been forgettable and his threat was dispatched without seemingly much problem. By contrast, episodes featuring other villains, such as these giant guys, the evil snake creatures, and the fake Mossman, they were built up as a threat. He-Man needed Mossman's help to dispatch of the fake Mossman. The snake creature episode(I think), He-Man had to get help from someone else to defeat them. He even had massive trouble putting away the giants as they practically destroyed a town and got the crystal they wanted before the Masters of the Universe regrouped and defeated them. Skeletor just comes off as useless. Also, I did not like last season's season finale, where basically all the villains from the year teamed up and kicked the crap of He-Man and the Masters, as only Adam was left with the villains descending on him to build to the season premiere. It just came off as they were prematurely blowing their load to me. Plus, there's the chance that once He-Mann inevitably triumphs, that's going to hurt all the villains in the process. How can I take a villain seriously if the combined 4 or 5 of them can't beat He-Man? Nevertheless, it is still better than the atrocity that was the new Inspector Gadget. The plot of the episode I saw was that Dr. Claw changed into an evil detective who got Inspector Gadget fired, and he was trying to crush Gadget's talking police car. In the end, the talking car(with help from two older talking cars from the 70s) saved the day. It was terrible.

9 out of 10. I am shocked. I only had no clue whatsoever on the last question. I sucked at math in high school. I only passed because my teacher was a moron. She'd give you half credit for just putting down an answer on tests, so, as long as I had a few correct, I did fine. Plus, the majority of the grade was for writing down notes and homework assignments even if you had no clue what you were doing on them. All in all, that usually added up to an easy B for me. I hate math.

I actually was. I usually try to check a few sources for some guidance on my pick. I was trying to decide between Jaric and a few other picks, since a bunch of sites seem high on him, I figured why not?

After thinking about it, I am taking Marko Jaric G LA Clippers
