  1. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see the Phillies bench Jimmy Rollins, move Polanco to shortstop, and play Utley at second.
  2. MLB.com had quite an interesting debate, with Seth Everett taking a stand that entertainers shouldn't use their forums for political protests, and Darryl Hamilton taking the opposite stand.
  3. What does that have to do with anything?
  4. Tonight, chat LIVE with TSM baseball writer, Alan Keiper, from 8-10 Eastern.
  5. Any word on Adam Morrissey? He's 23, and hitting .309 in his first year at AAA Sacramento.
  6. I think it deserves notice here, considering.... A. We're looking at the aspect of Carlo's actions, and not weapons testing in Puerto Rico, of which that discussion consisted. B. Delgado plays tonight in Yankee Stadium.
  7. Delgado Makes a Stand by Taking a Seat (registration needed) Regardless of Delgado's reasons, I have no problem with a player sitting during God Bless America. It is not our national anthem, and it is simply a piece of fluff MLB uses to gain positive PR. I am sure New Yorkers feel differently, and the piece is played there for different, legitimate reasons. With that said, I don't think it is a piece which requires the same kind of reverence that the Star Spangled Banner commands. That said, it needs to be noted that Delgado has done this all season, with no attention brought to the protest. He does not turn his back on the American flag, or disrespect the national anthem. I have no problem with Delgado's actions.
  8. Along the lines of David Wright, the Indians have called up Grady Sizemore, possibly their best prospect.
  9. I'm happy with a Michaels/Ledee platoon, but I wouldn't mind picking up Steve Finley. As for the pitching, I really wish the Phillies would give Ryan Madson another shot. Bowa needs to use the bullpen better. Here's the depth chart as I see it: Billy Wagner Ryan Madson Tim Worrell Rheal Cormier Geoff Geary Roberto Hernandez I think Geary's a quality reliever, and Bowa should go to him more. Also consider bringing up Josh Hancock for the 'pen.
  10. He's got a 39/33 K:BB ratio. I wouldn't take him.
  11. When has Saturday ever been a ratings bonanza?
  12. Ah. He's insane then.
  13. You mean Mariners, right?
  14. I haven't heard anything beyond a rumor. I have MLB Radio on at the moment, and they haven't said anything.
  15. http://thesmartmarks.com/artman/publish/article_1482.shtml Suggestion #6. I was on this bandwagon a month ago.
  16. On the bottom of ESPN.com's home page, they have their site legalese, and a contact link is located there. Also consider contacting MLB.com.
  17. At some point, Seattle wins out if they can get away with moving Boone's salary. Taking a flier on Joe Thurston couldn't hurt.
  18. Bret Boone's got an option for next year for $9 million, that kicks in if he reaches 450 PA. He's got 359 now. It'll be interesting to see if the Mariners bench him at some point.
  19. Why combine games a day away from each other. Who wants to log on to the board at 9:30 and have to look for where Sunday night ends and Monday night begins?
  20. Could be worse. How about that exciting Blue Jays/Expos all-Canada series.....that was played in Puerto Rico!
  21. Home field is up for renewal after this season, so it is up in the air as to whether or not it is continued. He convinced several cities to build stadiums using public funds, thus increasing profits for owners. From their point of view, he's been an excellent commissioner. For the fans, however, he's abysmal.
  22. Well, there's backstory behind the Braves, as with the advent of cable television, TBS arrived in most homes, and aired the majority of Atlanta Braves games. Thus they were the first team aired coast-to-coast.
  23. After Pittsburgh in '06, NL could get repeat game So essentially, Pittsburgh got the game so that they could blackmail fans into buying season tickets just so they can get into the All-Star game. This whole business of keeping the All-Star game away from the American League sounds like nonsense. Why not let Anaheim host the game? Or Kansas City, who has a wonderful ballpark? Yankee Stadium would make a nice All-Star game host, particularly in 2009, when they could possibly coincide the game with the new WTC opening (I'm not sure of the dates there, just thinking aloud). Or if all else fails, you could do worse than revisiting Camden Yards.
  24. No, but I'm trying not to drag specific references into forum rules, and the posters know who I am referring to.
  25. People have a right to bitch about their teams, but there's a line that has to be drawn somewhere between bitching and throwing a temper tantrum.
