  1. On the flip side, they started chanting it for Verne Gagne too.
  2. Yeah, but isn't it clipped? I think he wants the whole match. Did anybody else really hate the Curt Hennig vs Terry Taylor because of the commentary? Foley and Cole totally distracted me from the match with their rambling. Agreed, they had no insight whatsoever on the actual match.
  3. ESPN reports Minute Maid Park survived Hurricane Ike. Honestly, did anyone really believe the stadium was in imminent danger?
  4. In this case, a stalled front bringing relatively light but steady rain all day.
  5. I saw this game marked down to $20, as the new edition is out. Is there any real reason NOT to buy this game, glaring errors or such? Are real players in the game? Major League Soccer? Does it allow you to edit team names? What about the World Cup? Thanks in advance.
  6. And after three walkoff endings, Scranton leads this one 19-1 in the sixth inning. Juan Miranda showboated after hitting a home run with his team leading by 15. Can't wait to see his next at bat.
  7. I mean he was Ricky the Dragon during his initial run in the 1980s.
  8. This was the first PPV I ordered, so a lot of fond memories. The two main events delivered big. The rest of the matches weren't bad, even Bossman/Nailz is watchable.
  9. Amen. I mean hell, he was Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. The gimmick wasn't like a complete repackaging, just an extension.
  10. Scranton/Durham game four going on now, Scranton leads the series 2-1. All three games so far have been walk-off wins. I can't vouch for the minors, but only three major league postseason series have seen three walkoffs the whole way (1991 and 2001 World Series).
  11. Do you think Owings is good enough to stick around as a 4th/5th starter, or should a team like the Reds really consider making him a 1B or OFer? I always thought that his offensive performance seemed a little fluky, but there are scouts that say he has real talent. Hey, maybe Ankiel isn't the only guy out there that can make the switch. I think Owings can be a fifth starter. His hitting stats are nice, but I don't think you take that risk unless his career is at stake. Assuming his hitting is for real (no regression), his numbers are a tick above average for a pure hitter. He wouldn't be a star.
  12. As rumored months ago, the D'backs are indeed sending Micah Owings to the Reds to complete the Adam Dunn deal.
  13. Man Okerlund tries to stir up shit, and Cowboy Bob Orton wouldn't go for it.
  14. Of course it's different for the local fans. I'm looking at an outsider's perspective.
  15. This is one of my favorite pictures I've taken.
  16. Milwaukee's a tough team to get a handle on. You can root for them to get that first title, but then you remember the Milwaukee Braves already brought a championship to the city. Win one for Bob Uecker? Nice thought, but he got his ring with the '64 Cardinals.
  17. The pure number of situations. Exactly for that reason. Most teams as good as the Angels have fewer opportunities, since they have greater leads.
  18. I think it's a remarkable achievement in general. I hope teams recognize though that it is largely the product of an unusual number of opportunities.
  19. Apparently it's not working the other way. Marathon games seem to be in fashion tonight. The Scranton/Durham game went 13 innings as well, a 1-0 victory.
  20. Brown is 26, having a fluke year at AAA. It's over even anything he established at lower levels. Cash is a defensive backstop. Ross was a nice pickup for a backup, but is he any sort of long term solution? Obviously the Reds did not think so. I just don't see anyone else in the system beyond Kottaras.
  21. They are tied with the Phillies in the wild card race. Goddamn.
  22. He's better than Drew I think. I'll concede that one. Rick Sutcliffe is now saying that George Kottaras could be the starting catcher for the Sox next year. No he won't. I'd consider it an absolute long shot for him to even be the back-up. I know these guys have to fill three hours with talk, but at least do a little research. This is a guy who once ranked on top prospect lists. While he has flaws, he's still young, has power and discipline, and the IL league OPS is 20 points lower. The catching market is extremely thin, so I could see a cheap internal option ranking better than an expensive "proven" catcher of similar quality. Kevin Cash is clearly inferior and he's started 36 games.
  23. He's better than Drew I think.
  24. The Heenan backstage stuff is on the first Ric Flair dvd as well.
  25. I agree with this. The Phillies are slipping, the Mets need to step on their throats.
