  1. Indians got swept. sigh
  2. Hey, all Im gonna say to that subtitle is this season is reminding a lot of people of the 1989 WHY NOT? Orioles team that went from 54-107 in 1988 (including the 21 losses to start off the year) to finishing 87-75 and losing the AL East by 2 games to the Blue Jays (in which they lost two of the last 3 games of the season to the Blue Jays by 1 run which cost them the East Title). The 89 team was at the bottom of the AL in batting and only about the middle in Pitching, yet they spent a good deal of the season in first place. They were built around Cal Ripken after trading Eddie Murray and Mike Boddicker, and a lot of players acquired during the offseason such as Brady Anderson, Randy Milligan, Mike Deveraux and Curt Schilling (who would get traded away in the WORST TRADE EVER a few years later..sigh). Before the season started Vegas odds had them at 300-1 and dead last in baseball... The biggest difference this year so far that Ive seen over the past, like..5 is that even when they get down a couple runs they aren't giving up. Last year if they got down early the whole team would seem to pack it in by the 4th inning, because you knew the Bullpen couldnt keep the other team from adding a couple more runs on and the offense wasn't gonna score enough. This years bullpen is light years ahead of last years, and I think the offense is at least a slight improvement as well. Yesterdays victory was a testament to this as they were down 2-0 going into the 9th having pretty much been shut down by Felix Hernandez all day. But they managed to pull out the 3 runs in the 9th (granted not against JJ Putz, and they probably wouldnt have done it vs Felix Hernandez if he stayed out for the 9th) but in the past couple seasons they wouldnt have even been thinking 9th inning rally no matter who was out there. And Luis Hernandez, who everyone i(ncluding myself hammers on for his offense, since coming into yesterdays game he hadn't gotten a hit yet) delivers a 2 out basehit to win the game..its just those kinds of things that have me and some fans of the Os excited. Will it last..who the heck knows? But Im gonna enjoy the season and the fact that the team is going out there and playing to win and not using rebuilding as an excuse to lose, and for at least 2 days in April, the team that was supposed to finish last in the AL East and lose 100 games was 4-1 and in first place. 3. I figured Leatherheads would have done better had it released somewhere closer to football season.. 21 is based on a true story, but from what Ive read they "hollywoodized" the story too much.
  4. Article Do your civic duty - 25,000 so far Dont know if it will actually work or not but its worth a shot, right?
  5. Im sorry.
  6. Im sitting here agonizing the stat trackers for the games and right now watching my championship hopes go down the toilet. Im screwed on FG% but Im only down 5 3's and 1 block to at least tie. If I were to tie both of those I might backdoor my way into the championship game..but its not likely..
  7. Leelee didnt see Daniel Cabrera pitch last year.
  8. Fuck the heck? We finally have the entire NL on grass and the Brewers are going to switch to carpet so they can have TRACTOR PULLS? Fucking Wisconsin. What else can they really hold at Miller Park that draws enough to justify not using the Mecca or Bradley Center, anyway? I was gonna say Wrestlemania but..probably not.
  9. I think the Os have more wins when trailing after 7 so far (3 of the 4 wins) this year than they had all last year. Todays game was awesome, although some of the credit has to go to Seattle for pulling Felix Hernandez in the 9th.
  10. Gary Thorne keeps on calling Richie Sexson "Richie Sexton" repeatedly for MASN's O's coverage. You'd think someone would at least say "Hey, it's Sexson or that he might at least read the back of his jersey or something. The guy is horrible he needs to go back to doing ESPN or whatever and get Buck Martinez back who I like especially with Mark Patrick on Baseball This Morning on XM. Mark Patrick being my favorite sports radio host.
  11. Memphis by 15. I wonder if Lawler will be distracted on RAW or not..
  12. Treble, NYU, Cuban_Linx and Darthtiki had him for 20 points.
  13. I was there for that live and I dont remember what it was the Rock did. Only thing I remember about that was Vince and his lethal dose of poison in the nWo. The Rock made Coach do the Charleston dance backstage. Maybe they should have saved that for the Best of the Coach DVD.
  14. Im conceding the loss based on the fucking people at yahoo saying Vince Carter would need surgery on his ankle and he's out there tonight and scored 34 points plus Ron Artest was out so I basically got royally screwed (pun..haha). If I had his 34 points plus Kevin Martin's 32 plus the 18 from Smith and Miller each I would have taken the points lead going in to tomorrow which would give me a bit of hope for pulling this out somehow. Instead Im screwed unless I pick up the FG and Blocks. I cant calculate FG% but Im down 1 block by my calculations and Champs has Chandler and Battier. If I only win one I lose via the first tiebreaker that is points.. ARGH.
  15. Erik Bedard has an "inflamed hip" and wont pitch tomorrow in Baltimore, so the Os get Felix Hernandez tomorrow instead.
  16. I wonder if you eat La Parka do you become La Parka? and im surprised there arent more votes for the money.
  17. I was there for that live and I dont remember what it was the Rock did. Only thing I remember about that was Vince and his lethal dose of poison in the nWo.
  18. My team is doing better through a spat of injuries than it was prior, and Ive built up a 3 game lead in the east division.
  19. First of all Im not the first to brag about a player in their favorite teams minor league system. Wieters hit 2 HRs in his first pro game..thats a big deal, hes the future of the Orioles at Catcher, possibly even seeing him after the All Star break if they trade Ramon Hernandez. As far as SS goes, Im convinced by the end of the month Alex Cintron will be brought up and Fahey will be sent down. Cintron was the guy they wanted towards the tail end of the offseason til the Cubs picked him up, probably thinking they could package him in a trade for Roberts, which was evidenced by them releasing him after the trade talks were officially declared dead. Cintron is a significant upgrade over Fahey/Hernandez and will help out, its just a matter of time before they bring him up from AAA. My biggest thing is that there is no way this bullpen can be as bad as the one last year that put up an almost 6 ERA spot which cost them I dont know how many games last year..but certainly enough to cover the loss of Bedard. Sherrill has shown he has what it takes to be a good closer despite looking like a dork with the flat bill of his cap. As far as Millar goes, Im not the biggest Millar fan but he's taking the leadership role of the team and just said something to the extent of "Rebuilding is an excuse to lose and Im not here to lose and neither is anyone else" which is the kind of attitude the team needs.
  20. THEY HAVE PLAYED THREE GAMES Okay, here's your bet, Marvin: Cubs finish better than the Orioles and you're banned for good. You creatively ignored the part where I said if things play out like they have so far for another month Id be willing to bet that...
  21. Os are in first place (tied with the Rays), Yankees (and the Cubs..oh no) are in last. let me enjoy it while it lasts damnit. I told you all they wouldnt be a 100 loss team this year. If the bullpen is as good as its been they might actually be closer to .500. Give me another month of everything playing out like it has this week and I'll be willing to bet the Os finish better than the Cubs because from what Ive seen they're worse than the Orioles right now.
  22. Matt Wieters hit 2 HRs in his first Minor league game for the Os. He'll definitely be their starting catcher next year.
  23. The Os are winning 6-2. Trax actually pitched well and the bullpen has been excellent again. Millar, R.Hernandez and Mora have HRs.
  24. The first half of Earl last night was absolutely hillarious but the 2nd half was kinda eh. Overall Im glad Earl is back.
  25. They're also remaking Short Circuit. Johnny 5 is alive!
