And thank God for that. Sledge conveniently ignores the Rumble where Shane eliminated Shawn. It wasnt that long ago. Im not sure I could handle McMahons vs Rockers though.. -

Directv has Spice HD as a part time HD channel on weekends. Haven't ordered it because its expensive and you only get 3 hour blocks.

Triple H recalls reign No. 5 in his own words: "Winning at WrestleMania is the ultimate moment. But it was extra-special for me because it was the defining moment of my comeback from a career-ending quad tear." -- The quad tear wouldn't really be career ENDING now would it?

The 2006 Orioles Outfield: Reclamation Project City! Starring: Corey Patterson, Richard Hidalgo, Kevin Millar and Luis Matos! Featuring Jeff Conine as the wily old sheriff and David Newhan as the young cop trying to earn his stripes. Nah, I actually like the amount of depth we're piling on. Competition should make everyone play harder and you got to figure some of these guys are gonna bounce back. Hidalgo/Patterson/Gibbons is a decent OF if Hidalgo is healthy (should be good for 25 HR/80 RBI), Patterson plays like he did in 2004 (should be good for 15 HR 70 RBI 30 SB) and Gibbons builds on last year (should be good for 30 HR 90 RBI). That would be a much better OF than they've put on the field over the last few years.

The only thing disapearing in February of 2009 (right after the Super Bowl, but before the Oscars/March Madness) is the analog signals broadcast over the air. There will still continue to be plenty of non-hd channels via cable, mainly because A)providers have limited bandwith to allocate towards HD channels and B)Networks will have to be convinced its worth their money to upgrade to HD. Even when the the analog OTA feeds are shut down, there will still be a majority of people who still will be using analog tvs via cable/satellite and won't be able to recieve HD programming. Also...if you think its confusing now trying to explain to people why they aren't watching HD programming just because they have an HD TV but no HD capable box for HD programming, I cant imagine trying to explain 480i/480p/720i/720p/1080i/1080i/1080p. I also dont want to think about the fact that they will complain about the black bars on the sides of their TVs when programming is in 4:3 non-HD (or in some cases HD) just like they do on widescreen DVDs. TNT's HD channel already pisses me off because they show a lot of their shows that weren't in widescreen/HD to start with in whats commonly refered to as "Stretch-o-Vision" where they stretch the picture to fill an entire 16:9 screen instead of leaving it in its original 4:3 aspect ratio and other channels are going to follow suit. Id rather see the bars on the sides of the screen then stretch the picture to make everything look bloated. As far as HD programming...I know that this year there have already been a couple new HD channels launched (MHD - MTV:HD and National Geographic HD) and there are plans for at least two more (HGTV/FoodNetwork HD and SleuthHD).

Darren McGavin Dead at 83 Most known probably for playing "the Old Man" in A Christmas Story, but oddly enough he apparently starred with Don Knotts in "No Deposit, No Return."

She'll be the one that gives the speech at the HOF ceremony for Bret, and then Vince will come out and go "APRIL FOOLS!!" or something. -
Don Knotts, dead at 81 A couple people pick up some points, including myself. Sad though, but I saw it coming since last August.

DLP is a projection technology that uses a bunch of really tiny mirrors to reflect light which produces the image. Texas Instruments is behind the chip that has all the tiny mirrors on it, and from what I've heard the chip itself is rather reliable. DLP's are sharper and brighter than LCD/Plasmas, and produce better lights/darks as well (although still not CRT calibre on the blacks). I'd advise however, that if you plan to buy a DLP, for you to go to a store and look at the exact model you plan to buy. Theres a very small population of people who get whats called "The rainbow effect" when viewing DLP tvs, which is when you can see a rainbow of colors in light areas of the screen. Its caused by how the TV creates the images, and if it does affect you, would pretty much make anything onthe TV unwatchable, give you headaches etc..(you should get anyone else who you think might watch the TV to come with you as well). I would easily reccommend a DLP over an LCD/Plasma if money isn't an option and you want a fairly large TV. They are still pricey with LCDs and Plasmas dropping in price a bit as of late. But you dont get the potential for burn in on Plasma or odd viewing angle problems with LCDs on DLPs, and the picture is easily superior to LCD and Plasma. Also keep in mind that you'll need a Cable/Satellite Box capable of HD for whatever TV you buy, although you might luck out and get a TV with a built in tuner for over the air HD if you have stations in your area doing HD. Id also look to try and get a model with 2 DVI/HDMI ports so that you would be able to hook up a HD box and future HD-DVD players (Im sorta paying for this one, as Im having to run my HD Directvo off of Component, which provides a decent picture but not as good as HDMI) so that I can run my upconverting DVD recorder over HDMI cause it only upconverts over HDMI and I only have 1 HDMI port, but 2 component ports.

Good News For People Who Like Bad News
MarvinisaLunatic replied to Art Sandusky's topic in Current Events
What I heard on the news was that the UAE has so much money invested in other areas in the US, that if the Port deal is rejected, they could pull out their other investments, which would almost certainly send the US economy tanking. Which is why someone said that there might be terrorists who would actually want the US to reject the deal.. OMG..DEMOCRATS ARE TRYING TO HELP TERRORISTS.. Consequently, the economics of the deal mean theres no way in hell that it gets rejected. -
8 people who worked at a canned ham plant in Nebraska won, they all took the cash now (which is about half less than the total jackpot) so they each get $15.5 million after taxes. So in escence, a $365 million jackpot only ends up being $124 million after taxes taken out on for 8 people and their stupidity to take the lump sum pay out. I bet state/fed gov. love when multiple people win these huge payouts cause it means they get to collect more taxes than if just one person won.

For the Orioles, Nick Markakis is going to get held back because they have (worthless) depth at OF, specifically LF (Matos and Conine). Id rather see Markakis start in LF on opening day than either one of them. Conine probably should never even been signed and Matos should have been relegated to a bench spot when they signed Patterson. Theres also a huge debate over Adam Loewen vs Hayden Penn. Penn got called up last year to fill in because of injuries, he had a couple good games, got shelled around a lot, sent down, called back up and finished out the season on a high note. Im not sure I get how Loewen, is rated above him though (45 vs 81). The good news is that right now the Orioles' rotation is as strong as its been in a long time and baring injuries or a trade, I dont see how either of them factor into the Orioles Starting Rotation plans for the next 2 years at least, so there wont be a need to rush either of them. My guess is that eventually one of them will replace Rodrigo Lopez though if I HAD to guess, and I bet it will be Loewen. Benson just got a big contract, and Cabrera (25)/Bedard(27)/Chen(29) are all still under 30 and Chen had a career year last year, with Cabrera improving a ton over his rookie year and Bedard was on pace to have a breakout year before getting injured.
