  1. My guess is that Julian Tavarez has an injury or is completely burnt out from his increased workload this year. He pitched only eight innings from September 1 on (allowing 7 ER) and was left off all three postseason rosters. There's just no reason that they'd compeltely forget about him if he was available and ready to go.
  2. Czech, I mean this in the nicest possible way, but you have way too much time on your hands.
  3. I have no idea what any of this is about, but the guy failed the GED? That's awful.
  4. It's good that Undertaker made gestures and reminded Masters to sell the arm. A veteran like himself should be helping the younger talent out to improve their in-ring work. However, going in and legit roughing the guy up is uncalled for. I don't think Masters was intentionally trying to screw up his selling. It's extremely unprofessional and beneath Taker to act like that. Now someone's unnecessarily hurt.

  6. For what it's worth, and that's probably not much, here are my Gold Glove choices for 2007. Granted, the actual voting will come out much, much different, but that's because the voters don't take it seriously and/or have no idea who the actual good fielders are. American League C- Pudge Rodriguez, DET 1B- Kevin Youkilis, BOS 2B- Aaron Hill, TOR 3B- Brandon Inge, DET SS- John McDonald, TOR LF- Carl Crawford, TBA CF- Curtis Granderson, DET RF- Alex Rios, TOR P- Jon Garland, CHW
  7. I still don't know who Soulja Boy is, what the dance entails or why I should care. My life doesn't feel any less complete.
  8. Marc Stein reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves are close to sending Ricky Davis and Mark Blount to Miami for Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac and Wayne Simien. Link Gotta rebuild that championship roster, right?
  9. The Red Sox just made an unbelievable 3-1 comeback to make it to the World Series and all Bill Simmons' column consisted of was a collection of emails expressing shock that JD Drew hit a grand slam in Game 6. Talk about losing your edge. Why even bother? Just take some time off to be with your pregnant wife and quit mailing in these insulting columns.
  10. I used to be on the cutting edge of popular culture, but I've grown tired of the nonsense in my old age (well mid-20s). I haven't heard one of these songs. I think I like it better that way.
  11. I don't use AIM, but I guess I could give it a try if that's the consensus.
  12. There are some major pitching problems creeping up for the Red Sox in this series. Tim Wakefield was left off the World Series roster due to an injury in his right shoulder. This effectively leaves the team without a 4th starter. They've started the process of stretching Jon Lester out to be the game 4 starter. However, it is unlikely that he could go more than 4 innings. Buchholz hasn't pitched in 3 weeks and is completely unavailable and Beckett can't go on short rest because it puts Schilling on 3 days for game 5. Compounding the problem is the fact that there's about a 60% chance of rain tonight in Boston. If Game 1 gets called, they lose the off day on Friday and would therefore need a 5th starter as well. That man could be Kyle Snyder. If that's the case, congrats to your 2007 WS Champs, the Colorado Rockies.
  13. On that note, Foley winning the title on Raw for the first time. I didn't think there was any way they'd job the Rock that soon after turning heel and winning the belt.
  14. Hogan joins the NWO The Montreal Screwjob HHH retains at WM 2000 Warrior pins Hogan clean at WMVI Owen Hart dies at Over the Edge Diesel wins title days after face turn by squashing Bob Backlund Shawn Michaels' collapse on Raw from post-concussion syndrome
  15. Given the condition of Papi's knee, I don't know if he'll be able to play the field. If anything, they'll take advantage of Youkilis' ability to play 1st and 3rd and give each of those three guys (Ortiz, Youks, Lowell) one night off while they are in Colorado. Something like this: 1st game: Youks at 1st, Lowell at 3rd 2nd game: Papi at 1st, Youks at 3rd 3rd game: Papi at 1st, Lowell at 3rd
  16. Joe Torre had a press conference this afternoon. Nothing new stated, other than him confirming that he found the offer insulting and as an indication that they didn't really want him back.
  17. Kevin Millar was disposable, both as a player and a person.
  18. I don't think that it's realistic in the era of free agency to expect a team to do either. In the end, it's going to take a mix of home-grown talent and free agent acquisitions to build a contending team. It's entirely too expensive to hire a team of mercenaries to win the whole thing. Conversely, building from with is difficult because you have to entice an entire team to forgo possible monetary gains to stay together and go for a title. In the end, I just want an astute front office that makes wise decisions on player acquisition, whether that's through the draft or from free agency.
  19. The problem with your trade ideas Ripper is that you say a Kobe trade can get them deep in the playoffs. They have a team right now that will get deep in the playoffs. I'd go as far to say they might be the favorites in the East. Unless a Kobe trade makes you so much better that you can win the title outright, it's not worth messing up the team chemistry.
  20. I can't see why the Bulls would want to gut their team to land Kobe Bryant. I know he's one of the best players in the NBA and you do everything in your power to make something work, but when the trades involve your starting PG, SF and two young big men, what's the point? You aren't really in a better position to win the title and you are presented with the same problem Kobe had in LA - a Kobe-centered team with no supporting cast. It also doesn't solve their main problem, namely a PF or C who can score at the post. A deal for Gasol or Garnett would have made a lot more sense for the team. Even Zach Randolph with all his baggage could have helped this team. Bryant just improves the team where they don't necessarily need it.
  21. How can you not have internet access? Are you going to live in a cave?
  22. Don't know if anyone caught this, but last night the Indians brought in Josh Beckett's ex-girlfriend to sing "God Bless America." I don't know if they did this to try and rattle him or if it was just a coincidence, but here was his response when questioned about it after the game.
  23. 570. "It's so cool that Shawn Michaels stood up to Vince McMahon and dressed him down in front of the whole locker room. It's about time someone told Vince off." Maybe when the teenagers who inhabit that folder get a real job they'll realize that it's not always easy to get along with your boss. He might say some mean shit once in a while, but you have to deal with it if you want to get anywhere. Otherwise, just quit. There's nothing gained by being a jerk right back.
  24. At least he was on target with that title.
  25. Vince McMahon shouldn't treat his employees, especially one as loyal as Shawn, this way. That being said, he is the boss and it's inappropriate for Shawn to act this sort of way to him in front of the entire locker room.
