  1. Bill Robinson passes away: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=2954047
  2. Carlos Beltran has a torn abdominal muscle. Here comes Jay Payton
  3. The problem with the Dusty version of the Cubs was that there was no one on base when the homeruns were hit.
  4. According to the NY Post, Texeira to the Braves is all but official. Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be part of the deal. If Steve Phillips were still the Mets GM he would react to this by making a hasty, short sighted trade deadline deal. With Minaya, who knows.
  5. Incredible stuff. Loved every second of it. The subtle throwback jokes were too many to name (too bad the majority of the audience didn't get the references since , ya know, they weren't born yet.) Like Bruiser said the lack of the secondary characters was suprising, especially Mr. Burns. They made the right decision to go with a straight forward, albeit amped up, Simpson story instead of going the wacky route and having tons of pointless celebrity cameos (which I thought they would do from the beginning)
  6. from Metsblog:
  7. This is from another board so not sure of the validity but Hammer specifically wants Stephanie McMahon and Sable to return to television in full time roles.
  8. and the man who gets to dethrone Cena after his 11 month reign
  9. This crowd is pretty much popping for *everything* tonight which is unusual for a California crowd
  10. Cena wins clean. No Lashley heel turn. Booking obviously sets up Orton beating Cena for the title at SS
  11. Sandler still has it.
  12. Tim McCarver during today's Mets/Dodgers game: "Folks, we don't want to throw a lot of numbers at you, but this year, 39% of leadoff walks have scored. That's about 40% of the time."
  13. I knew it. There was talk that Pelf had "altered" his delivery in the offeason but the "blame" was put on Rick Peterson. Thank you Scott Boras for turning a potential stud power pitcher into a guy that can't strike anybody out or even get a swing and a miss.
  14. That was quite the game. Listen to 15 innings of Chip Carey was quite the experience.
  15. The Mets have fired hitting coach Rick Down and replaced him with Rickey~! F'N Henderson! Believe it.
  16. Saw it tonight. Pretty much agree with the consensus that it was a fun popcorn flick. I would rank it the 3rd best out of the 4 films (Does anyone actually like Die Hard 2?) Justin Long actually got a few laughs out of the crowd. Kevin Smith was embarrassingly bad. The main villian's (Tim Olyphant) acting was so wooden that it took an edge of the movie though.
  17. I saw Meatballs on cable this morning for the first time in probably 20 years and man is that movie FUCKING AWESOME. Bill Murray just kills it and is just gleefully wacky for 90 minutes. It might be my favorite performance of his career. It was probably the only time in his career where he was allowed free reign to be himself and improvise on screen. He would obviously gain more fame in later years, but this might be representative of the "real" Bill Murray. The movie should have made Chris Makepeace a star as his chemistry with Murray is off the charts. So much so that Ivan Reitman had them shoot extra scenes together after production had ceased to get them more screen time in the finished product. I can't get the damn movie off my mind so I'm getting the new DVD of it that came out last month. I think this movie just entered by top 10 comedies of all time simply for the fact that it's so damn fun.
  18. Contract signing between Cena and Lashley
  19. eh, no John Maine?
  20. Bob Wickman sure does make things interesting.
  21. Mets win 2-0 over the Cardinals in a rain shortened 5 1/2 inning game. Anthony Reyes is now 0-10.
