no way will his body hold up that long. the steroid use will eat him alive before he's 50. i say he's got 2-3 more good years left in him before another neck surgery. after that he'll still probably push himself for another year, but his ring work will suffer badly.

music in general? probably miles. miles. he lead the whole medium out of bebop. i can't point to any specific musical practice in country & say "nobody did that before johnny cash." i can point to any number of things with miles. cash, definitely. while everybody knows who miles is, most people's exposure to him is very indirect. mainstream audiences haven't seen his performances and generally don't buy his albums. cash's mainstream exposure has been very direct: everyone has seen/heard several johnny cash performances/songs. for innovation, depth & variety, miles's catalog kills just about every other musician of the 20th century. he would crap a great record before breakfast every morning. going by banky's standards, it's miles 3-1.

you're the one who brought it up.

that is not something to be proud of.

and, to a lesser extent, chevelle.

come on people, do better. we can't let ourselves be beaten by forums like this: 18. Chiquititas Hebrew forum for an argentinian soap opera

1. radiohead - "street spirit (fade out)" 2. the who - "magic bus" 3. bjork - "pagan poetry" 4. sarah mclachlan - "fumbling towards ecstasy" 5. rolling stones - "turd on the run"

white light/white heat better than the grey album? that's just all kinds of crazy talk. if anything, WL/WH is the weak link in the catalog. aside from "sister ray" and the title cut, the songwriting doesn't hold a candle to their last two albums. and although there's all sorts of wild experimentation, the experiments aren't entirely successful about half the time ("lady godiva's operation" feels more campy than creepy to me, and "the gift" gets pretty boring after repeated listens).

it's all about 'the bends'. without a doubt, their songwriting peak. i know i'm in the minority, but i never really found 'ok computer' to be all that moving. i enjoy the album, but i've never been knocked on my ass by its greatness. 'the bends' doesn't flow well enough as a whole to knock me on my ass, but there's several moments that do. especially "street spirit," which is the greatest song i've heard in the last ten years.

don't do it, you'll lose your liquor license.

i did a show in local theater with a girl whose life's ambition was to host 'wild on'. she was really hot. her best friend was really hot too. -
just about any auteur who chooses to act in his own movies. see spike lee in 'do the right thing', martin scorsese's voice in 'bringing out the dead' and quentin tarantino in 'pulp fiction'. glaring exceptions: warren beatty and orson welles.

velvet underground=most consistent band ever. their final record was a classic, as was the rest of their catalog.

promo-wise, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who could be more moving than foley. i've seen flair match him twice, but foley could do it consistently and effortlessly. in the ring, it's all about ricky steamboat. no wrestler could make you stand up and root for him like steamboat could. well...kobashi could, and kawada could. i'm shocked austin hasn't been mentioned yet. heel or face, when he wanted to win, he wanted to win. benoit, when he's not in "detached killer" mode, is also very good at this. at his unforgiven & rumble matches with angle, you could feel his desire to win.

kirsten dunst and josh hartnett in 'the virgin suicides'. coppola did wonders. leelee sobieski, who somehow became the "it" girl for three months after ten minutes of screen time and no lines in 'eyes wide shut'. i also find it hilarious that kubrick of all people (who had no clue how to direct actors) could make her seem good.

rocky in 2001 was pretty over as a face, and he still got booed when he attacked austin.

okay, about the 'raw' title: smark shit aside, it will never be as prestigious as the wwe title, even to the marks. it is not the flagship company title. look at the difference: wwe title. raw title. triple h could beat everyone on the smackdown roster clean, but that big gold belt will never be the top company belt.

Yes, he did. The ref just didn't see it. Doesn't matter Rico. A REAL champion does it when it matters. Benoit CHOKED. What do u mean it doesn't matter? So ur telling me Benoit is not a real champ? Hmmm. He didn't tap, he passed out because you do that when you are being put in a deadly hold. Would that be good enough to be considered a real champ? Or would he have to be beyond human strength and not pass out? And how is Brock the real champ, he tapped out. Benoit didn't, and this is what makes this feud good. Brock knows that he never made Benoit tap and he never wants to face him again because he knows its useless to fight someone who you(Brock) can't beat(Benoit). If Benoit wins the Rumble, he's forced into fighting Brock, and theres nothing he can do about it. How is this not better than the supposedly HHH/Benoit feud you brought out? No, a REAL champ doesn't pass out like a pussy in a deadly submission hold. He does what Hulk Hogan did to the Camel Clutch against the Iron Shiek... he BREAKS OUT OF THAT SHIT LIKE A FUCKING MAN AND UNLEASHES A HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS ASSKICKING. cause steve austin proved himself to be such a pussy at WM13.

How many of them are North American matches? Well, one of them will probably be that terribly overrated Bret/Owen match at WrestleMania X. It was good - maybe even very good - but in no way was it a ***** classic like some claim. i have to hear the argument for this one. incidentally, i think ray should have to donate a quarter to the site every time he says the word "overrated." -
"golden slumbers" at the moment. followed closely by the other 16 tracks on 'abbey road'.

dames's post reminded me, i also suck at almost every video game i've ever played and any sport known to man. i played baseball for the rec department in 7th grade, & i was last in the batting lineup and played deep right field (where i proceeded to stare off at the bleachers and never pay attention to the play). i'm also a bad drinker. i hate the taste of alcohol, and i can taste the alcohol in everything. and i don't find being drunk all that fun anyway.
-
interesting choice, why'd you go with that one?

mazzy star - 'so tonight that i might see'

sarah silverman still does stand-up, and she's a regular on crank yankers (one of the funnier ones as well). i have no idea what the hell laura kightlinger's doing now, but she's been banging jack black for the last 6 years.
