Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
vivalaultra replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
If it's true that he killed his 7-year old son with the finishing maneuver that he used for his professional character...that's clearly psychotic and shows that he was deluded and not able to seperate his real life from his character. That's just...man. -
I dunno...the Astros did go back-to-back in the 2nd inning. Maybe they'll go back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back in the 7th.

I will say that I'm happy to see that, at least, Benoit didn't use 'internet slang' in his text messages nor were they riddled with grammatical errors. -

Chris Benoit WWE Timeline Here's an interesting article on the WWE site that has transcripts of all of the text messages (5 of them) sent by Benoit between 3:51 AM and 3:58 AM early Sunday morning (which means he killed himself sometime after 4 AM). From reading this, I learned that Benoit's physical address is, in fact, 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetville Georgia, 30215. Edit: Well...nevermind. -

What I heard was that he had his knee on her back pressing her up against the floor. Seriously, the fact that he took the time to wrap her hands and feet and bash her in the head before strangling her seems to show some...mental process going on that would indicate that it wasn't just roid rage. And the fact that he killed his son the next morning. I don't know how long roid rage lasts, but I don't think it lasts over an extended period of days, and if it did, it seems like he would've killed both in the same stretch instead of, apparently, calming down after the first murder before committing the second. -

Remember last nite when it was revealed that the Wikipedia account for Nancy had listed her death 14 hours before it became public information and that the IP had been located in Stamford, CT? I still wonder what that's all about...if it's about anything at all. -

The way the media is playing it up is that because Benoit was a pro wrestler, he used steroids and the steroids caused him to go wonky and murder his family and himself. That steroids were found in the home seems to support this hypothesis to some degree; however, that hasn't been conclusively determined. The correlation that they seem to be proposing is that 'Pro wrestling positively correlates with increased steroid usage' + 'Steroid usage positively correlates with increased rage and/or anger' + 'Increased rage and/or anger positively correlates to violent or murderous acts' = 'Pro wrestling positively correlates with violent or murderous acts'. However, the correlation isn't between pro wrestling and being a murderer, but is between (hypothetically) steroid usage and the type of rage that would lead to murder, but, it can possibly be inferred that the fact that Benoit was a pro wrestler, he was in a field that lent itself to steroid usage and, ergo, steroid rage, but, that's sort of a leap of faith. Correlation doesn't mean causality, but it can infer causality. There have been many, man pro wrestlers that likely used steroids, but weren't driven into a murderous rage. Therefore, I don't think steroids can be inferred to be THE cause of the murder, but they can be, possibly, inferred to be a a factor in the equation that led to murder, dependent upon the outcome of the toxicology reports. -

The saddest part (well, one of the saddest parts) was hearing that there weren't any signs of a struggle by Nancy or Daniel. -

The timeline given in the conference is slightly different than the one that was given before, huh? They're saying now, Nancy was killed Friday, Daniel Saturday, and Benoit hanged himself later Saturday or Sunday morning. -

I'm watching Fox News waiting for the press conference, and they just started a story with the headline of 'Stalker Hacks 3 Cell Phones; Leaves Death Threats'. My first thought was, of course, "First Benoit...Now Barry Windham?!?!?!?" -

Hmmm....so if Benoit was sending text messages to his friends in the company on Sunday morning and today, I wonder if the guys who were working the show last nite had some idea of what was going on and if guys like Chavo and Dean knew what had happened when they were doing their testimonials. But with the news of Benoit sending weird text messages over the weekend, it would seem like the WWF ( I call it that cuz I'm old school) had at least SOME knowledge or some idea of what had happened when they went to air tonite. -
Kevin wore the same bluejeans every day for the last season cuz, like me, he figured "Meh...they're not really THAT dirty...they'll be good for another couple of days." Daniel Stern didn't know that the series was ending until the producers et al. told him and gave him the narration to read over the last scene right before it aired.

This story is making the suicide at my neighbor's house that I posted about in General Chat look like an after-school special or something. -

Hey! The African Wild Ass is actually a type of horse...I thought it was a little known gimmick that James 'Kamala' Harris used back in the Mid-South days. -

He did it with the balsa wood chair and then polished them off with a double-foot stomp after tying them in the 'Tree of Woe'. -

I'm not huge into wrestling, but I saw this headline and got sad; I was always a Benoit fan like most people. Truly a tragedy. Anyway, here's a section from the abcnews.com piece: I don't want to sit here and speculate on what might have happened. I just wanted to come in and express my condolences for both families and all the fans who have fond memories of the man's work. -
Apparently, I live next door to a crime scene

Nah, Hunter Pence was in sunny Anaheim when the accident occured. He's cool. The kid can do no wrong. -
They should be able to do the 'Roland giving Annie an abortion by sticking a gun up her vagina scene' on HBO, right?
-
I saw it last nite. It was quite good, but differed from the story in a few respects. Seriously, the short story is really, really creepy, moreso than the film and I highly recommend it to anyone.

About the ending: I thought it was magnificent, and I say that as a lifelong fan of Stephen King who has been reading the 'Dark Tower' series for 15 years. The story was about redemption and, in the end, that was what the Tower represented, a chance for Roland to redeem himself. Personally, I enjoyed it that King wrote about the second to last cycle instead of the last cycle. At the heart of the story, Roland was a tragic character and the story was almost a Greek tragedy, his tragic flaw was his obsession with the tower. I thought the whole ending worked in the scope of the novel. All of the characters had to fight their own personal demons to find their redemption and, in the end, so did Roland. I dunno, I just thought it worked well and, because it didn't have a 'final FINAL' ending, I think it'll live on forever. King's bitter note at the end was kind of off-putting to read at first, but I agree with the message of it-Reading a story just to get to the end and find out how it all ends is a lot less fun than just enjoying the journey and the getting there. Sometimes I don't think the 'non-ending' ending works, but in this instance, I think it did...or maybe I just took a great big gulp of Stephen King's Kool-Aid before I read the book. I certainly can see how some people would hate the ending, but I thought it fit and was pulled off well. Even though I knew what the ending was going to be about halfway through the 7th book (actually before that...reading the Revised edition of the first book was almost a dead giveaway of what would happen), I still was 100% emotionally involved and invested in the characters and the story, so, it worked for me. Personally, I think the perfect actor to have played Roland was Clint Eastwood, obviously, but, since he's an octagenarian now, I don't think he could do it. Viggo Mortensen would be an interesting choice; he certainly did a good job of pulling off the 'thin line between humanity and violence' in A History of Violence.
