Shawn Michaels doing the voiceover for the Red Cross promo is a little unusual.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Watching the Billy Graham DVD for the first time tonight and I'm checking out the extras. I cracked up during one of Graham's interviews before his match with Putski for the WWE title. Vince McMahon asks Graham if he will defend the title outside of the Northeast. Graham says he will defend the title all over the world...Canada, Mexico, the United States, CALIFORNIA... He then spots a photographer next to the ring apron. "That man is from Japan. (to photographer) I will defend it in Japan!"

    F4W/WON WWE Notes - September 9th - 15th

WWE has referred to the "World Wrestling Federation Championship" since circa 1987, without any 'World' or 'Heavyweight' descriptor needed. I'm sure that's partly because WWE has been reticent to acknowledge pro wrestling outside of their own universe, which would kind of make the 'World' descriptor redundant. ECW only referred to their title as a World title for marketing purposes, since it was defended almost exclusively in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts for many years. I'm pretty sure the World Heavyweight Championship is referred to as such solely to further distinguish it from its WWE and ECW counterparts. In WWE logic, since the Royal Rumble winner can choose to challenge for the WWE, World, or ECW Championship at WrestleMania, they are considered to be on equal footing. The "World title = defended worldwide" argument is a hollow one since there are about zero promotions in the world who allow anyone (contracted talent or not) to get a shot at the title.

    ECW on Sci-Fi - September 9, 2008

Eh, Striker knows Vince is Republican, so I'd imagine this is one way to butter up the boss. I agree, however, that WWE shouldn't be doing this, especially since they're also running a nonpartisan voting drive.

    Just refusing to job

That would be Mike Bell in THIS match: http://www.wrestlinggonewrong.com/video/sa...bell_match.html From a 2002 interview: "Perry believes that reports of that match were overdone, and says it was a "freak accident", where Bell dumped him on his head twice during the match. Perry claimed he was "out on (his) feet", and swinging at Bell instinctively. He then threw Bell out of the ring so he could gain his composure. Bell wasn't prepared for that bump, because Saturn as swinging at him, and that was the bump that Perry got the most heat for. Saturn claimed that he was injured after that match, and had to go home with a stiff neck. He doesn't know what went wrong, and says Bell has been around for a while and is "an accomplished hand". He thinks he went into self defense mode. He claims that only happened to him one other time, when he was in ECW and teaming with John Kronus. He didn't remember the guy's name, but the match was in Salisbury Maryland, and a worker was very uncooperative with the Eliminators, trying to "bully" them."

    WWE Unforgiven 2008

This PPV was the first time a world title changed hands in Cleveland since Stone Cold defeated Kane on June 29, 1998 to win the WWE Championship for the second time. Matt Hardy is the third man to win the WWE European Championship before becoming ECW Champion.

Circuit City has a SummerSlam 3-pack (04, 05, and 06) for $22 USD. The 2004 box has a new cover that removes any reference to the Orton/Benoit match; there's a blank space where their pictures used to be.

WWE General Discussion - September 2008

It's a good sign for the future if WWE can put on a good show and showcase new main eventers without using those 4 guys. This youth movement in WWE may be laying the framework for the company's future into the 2010s.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 8.22.08

To make it less confusing, I think they should have billed this match as 'Capture The Flag' or something where the person who scores a pinfall gets a red armband or something on them, then the last person to score a fall is the champion. That way, it can be made clear that the championship doesn't change hands during the match itself but rather goes to the last man to wear the armband. Plus, the armband is a little visual cue for the audience to keep track of who scored last.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 8.22.08

Well, the entrances/hype packages for the two main events will take about 20:00 each, so there's about 80 minutes of time devoted to the two main events. That's not even counting any postmatch celebrations/angles.
