Y'know... Considering that page has 2 cartoons about the Tribe... I WISH THEY'D TRANSLATE!

That... is freakin' golden! To me, people always seemed to portray Big E as... Well... Pardon my 'French', but as an asshole off the track... I think remembering little things like that Top 10 list will just serve to elevate E's status as a NASCAR icon that much more. Oh, and the death threats to Sterling was so Bush League... There's a big difference between being passionate about a sport, or a driver... And being just down-right "not right in the head". I mean... Do you think Emerson Fittipaldi got death threats when he bumped and spun Al Unser Jr. with a handful of laps to go in a past Indy 500? Or was it the other way around... I don't remember, but... Point being, isn't it bad enough that Sterling has that on his own conscience without people 'reminding' him of what he did? Anyway... Yeah, I'm done now.

Yeah... Joe Tait is a legend, at least in the lines of Cleveland sports. I listened to him back in the days of Nance, Ehlo, Price, Daugherty, and "Hot Rod". The only reason I wasn't listening to him for "The Shot" is because I was there in person... Damn you, Michael Jordan! (Drifts back on track, sorta) Casey Coleman reminds me of a John Madden in the making. And not in the good way. And yes, the Browns defense did play like they should be put in a home. And before I digress further, I offer 3 names for discussion in the forum: Brad Nessler Lee Corso Kirk Herbstreit Discuss amongst yourselves.

I'm kinda going off of the one season (2001) he was with the Tribe. Played 140 games, batted .325, hit 35 bombs. I know he's 35-36ish, but he may have a year or two of good bat left. Besides, I'd like to think that at this critical of a juncture for the Indians, they wouldn't be throwing money away on someone that can't play the majority of the games.
-
... Somehow that is amazingly funny...
-
On the Indians... Well... Pitching-wise, the Kevin Millwood signing might be a dark-horse boon for us. His numbers, while not stellar, are solid. Hopefully if he has a good season, he'll stay on for a year or two more. The three-headed monster of Sabathia, Millwood, and Westbrook might be more powerful than people think. I am not, however, too keen on Scott Elarton in the starting rotation. Howry, Rhodes, and the return of Bob Wickman will give the Tribe 'pen the stability it didn't have last year. Aaron Boone at third doesn't intrigue me. Seems we're just plugging a gap until something better comes along. The Vizquel move was expected, but we really don't have anyone to fill the hole. Peralta and Phillips are painfully young. And while Alex Cora has experience at the position, he's not all that great himself. Broussard, Belliard, and Hafner should have solid years once again. The power production for this team (such that it is) will come from Juan-Gone and Hafner, with probably 30 bombs a piece. Casey Blake might be a sleeper longball threat, possibly chalking up 20+ for the year. This team will have to rely more on the arms than the bats once more, and with the Eric Wedge "Small Ball" philosophy in place, it could happen. The Tribe can easily finish a few games above .500, and second in the AL Central. With the seeming diluting of talent baseball-wide, the Tribe might be in the hunt for the Wild Card spot into the late games of the season. As long as the bullpen holds for the long haul, the 2005 season may turn out good like Shapiro told us several years back...

Because I'm a Clevelander at heart: Old-School AM: Tom Hamilton and Herb Score (WTAM 1100) New-School AM: Tom Hamilton, Mike Hegan, and Matt Underwood (WTAM 1100) Boob Tube: John Sanders and Rick Manning (Fox Sports Net Ohio) And I know this is broadcasting -teams-, but if you're ever in Cleveland when a Cavs game is going on... Tune in to Joe Tait on WTAM 1100. He's pretty damn phenomenal.

Hmm... I think Fury needs remedial base-running classes...
-
That's right. w00t! Not that I want to move from Boston just yet... I'd like to get a full (as in preferrably injury-free) season there, see how I and the team are doing. I guess as long as Boston's getting what they want out of me, I'm safe.
-
We're just past the All-Star break (as in end of July) in 2021.
-
So I won't have to worry about moving from Boston (via anything but trade) until 2024, right?
-
Evo, Fury's signed through the season, but is up for arbitration... Anything I need to know about that or keep in mind? And glad to see you're still around running this thing... Hate to think I eyeballed the thread on occasion for nothing.
-
... We still alive in here?
-
You know, considering I basically moth-balled my defensive abilities (as I've gotten 3 errors in the first month) to try and improve my skills with the bat... These numbers after one month disturb me. (Le sigh) So does Boston's record, but considering they're only doing one game worse than last year (thusfar)... Who knows...
-
Awesome logos. I wish these teams luck... But not too much luck. Boston still needs to win the big one. Anyway, here's Fury's Spring Training regiment: Contact Hitting 6 Power Hitting 7 Strike Zone Judgment 6 Defense 1 Since steroids are illegal (Drugs 'r bad, mmmkay?) , I'll have to boost the ol' bat the old-fashioned way, and hope I don't turn into Giambi or A-Rod in the field.
-
1) I approve of the moves... And the team names sound pretty good. But what about the venue names? We'll need suggestions for those. Me? I have none. 2) Considering I already have a pitcher set up in case Fury ends his own career sometime soon, I'll definintely buy into this idea. 3) ...Nope. I'll let him injure himself out of baseball, thanks. Also, how's my contract going to work out? Is it an automatic resign for '21, or not? Tried to determine it from the site, but...

Wow... That Game 7 for Boston - Denver was just all sorts of fuckered up. Nice post-season by me, but not quite enough... Oh well, at least I know we're going in the right direction in Boston.

Public Service Announcement

Mike> Yeah... Sorry about that. Sly> No. Toxxx> Well, that can be part of it... I'm sure that wouldn't have helped things, being in the back of his mind during his losing match with Landon (we're assuming)... But there might be something to help with the closure coming up. Sarah> Nope... Not gonna be a year again... I'm figuring either after X-Mas (depewnding on how good the holiday is for people sending me money and such), or a month or two after. If I can get these financial matters squared, that will be a lot off my shoulders, and I'll be able to relax a little more. Anyway, I'm working on a possible 'out' for Fury right now, so no one write any career-threatening injuries for me just yet. I'll keep folks appraised as needed. -
Hey, y'all. You may have noticed that I've been conspicuously (and probably not surprisingly) absent this past week or so. Well... Work's decided to be really hectic, with a soon-changing schedule. Life's been dealing me some shit with finances. And frankly, there's some things I'm just stressing about that I shouldn't be... A little incident on here a couple weeks ago, for example. So... For right now, I have to take myself out of circulation here. It's been a fun run, and before you ask... Yes, I -do- plan on coming back... Just, right now is not a good time to be focusing outward. Need to look back in, get myself all settled and such again so I can actually have -fun- with this all like I did when I first came back. I'll be around the boards and the chat room when I can. I'll still be in the SFBL... Call it an 'alternate reality' for Chris Fury. Take it easy, y'all.

(First page bump, waiting for the playoffs)

Wow... I think that's the first time in a little bit that I've actually said, "Oooooh..." while reading a promo... Noice one, Toxx. That definitely gives me a few things to work with.

Main Event – SWF World Championship Match Toxxic © vs. Carnage - Yep. Why not. Don't think Carnage is ready for the big-time just yet. Cruiserweight Rules Match Kaine vs. Ghost - Ghost is intriguing, but... Eh. Go with the 'old hat' pick. Cold Front Classic Quarterfinal Match! #1. Landon Maddix © vs. #9. Christian Fury © - Meh. Cold Front Classic Quarterfinal Match! #4. Todd Cortez © vs. #5. “Hollywood” Spike Jenkins © - Skipe = teh krushd! Cold Front Classic Quarterfinal Match! #3. Sacred vs. #6. Manson - What can I say... I like the underdog. Cold Front Classic Quarterfinal Match! #2. Max King vs. #7. David Cross - Natch. Penn Station Brawl for the Hardcore Gamers #1 Contender Slot Sean Davis vs. Danny Dagda vs. Austin Sly - Unfortunately, Rev-0 is the most compelling pick. I like Austin and all, but I don't see him with a hardcore style. But... Being a grounded Cruiserweight, maybe hardcore is what he does best. DD / IL = non-factor.

Hey... The fans are vocal with their YYYYYEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I can't fault them that. Heh... Boondock Saints... If I start stuttering and yelling "FUCK! ... ASS!!!" every half hour or so... It's your fault! And I've got a promo in work (between trying to put together my match and actual work work) that will shed some light on the ol' thought-processes. Hopefully it will not suck.

It's alright, you guys... No apologies owed me. If anyone should be apologizing, it's me for making an ass out of myself a bit back there. I -am- disappointed that IL didn't write. But, like my quasi-effort states, and TNT's lateness with getting his 'matches' marked, and (hopefully) with IL not-showing and whoever else wrote something odd for the show... Shit comes up. People get unmotivated, or tired, or what have you... Some people know when enough's enough, at least for now... Janus, Dace, WC, Flesher... Hell, even Mark and King came out of 'retirement' for a last hurrah because the mood struck them to finish a nearly-forgotten storyline... At least that's what I'm guessing. But me... I'm back. I know I've been on and off over the past couple years, but... Things are stable enough to elt me come back. Nothing short of natural disaster or deployment (and both can be worked around, I'm sure), or winning the World Title and losing it... (Snicker) Will keep me away. Yes, I'll have a bout of no=show here and there, if circumstances warrant. But, I will endeavor to try and put -something- in my marker's PM box... Proved with my submission for Lockdown. But, since work is over (at least for another 11 hours... Geez...), and I've had time to clear my head, I do want to apologize. I just... Eh, fuck... I'm a compliment whore. I like getting my recognition. I'm also a title whore, but more on that to come. But... Yeah... I'm a douchetard. The character's turning a corner. And I'm a douchetard.
