All good and acceptable, boss... Just didn't want to leave y'all in the lurch and thinking I evaporated again. Hopefully Landon didn't though.

3 lines to describe my match-writing experience... Internet at Washington Air Force Bases sucks. Laptops that malfunction and die suck more. Back home with working shit, but unless I can come up with something in the next little bit, I won't be showing this one. Sorry for the disappointing lack of notice, but... I have to work with what I'm given. Since I'm back home, I should be good to go from here on though.

Moving it would be fantastic. Not worrying about having to cram a match down with my turkey will help much.

This is the initial, so there's something posted... The entrance and moveset are a bit on the rough side until I can get into SVR '07 a little more. Should work for now though. ----- Preliminary Question: How did you find us/hear about us? Returning old-timer... Again... Heh. Smarks Board Name: Vasarian_Brandy Wrestlers Name: Chris Fury Height: 6'3" Weight: 232lbs Hometown: Puyallup, Washington (will be announced as Tacoma, Washington) Age: 33 Face/Heel: Tweener-Face Stable: None Ring Escort: None Weapon(s): Kendo Stick, only for Hardcore / "Weapons Allowed" matches Quote: "The grizzled vet strikes again!" Looks: Physically, Christian Fury is in good shape for his age. Decently tall, lean... He's not bulging muscles, but the ones he shows are well-toned. Long, red hair... Not quite fire-engine red... A bit darker. Tanned complexion. Small goatee. He's now sporting a highly stylized tattoo on his left arm... It can be best described as an "Asian Fairy", white skin, red hair, blue wings, with wisps of flame around her form. It takes up the entire length of his arm. Fury usually wears his long, red hair in a ponytail to keep it out of his face. His black leather jacket is usually either being worn, or close to Fury's side. The "Fury" on the back of the jacket is written in a silvery-red stylized script. He wears black denim jeans, a pair of "Marauders", and a form-fit, short-sleeved muscle shirt, simple black. Accessory-wise, he wears a pair of silver-framed, reflective sunglasses, and a simple gold ring on a silver chain, which hangs around his neck. This look, he says, is the only thing decent he picked up from his days with The Clan. He liked their look, but (and I quote, in the understatement of the year), "I despised their fucking attitude after the fact". In the ring, not much changes... The "Marauders" gain a nice steel toe. He fights shirtless, but keeps his ring necklace on. He will not be happy if someone were to take that, or break it off him, as it belonged to his former fiancee Lara, now deceased. Ring Entrance: Music to be used is P.O.D.'s version of "Booyaka 619", minus the lyrics... No lyrics, just this Latino Alternative-sounding soundtrack. Darkened arena, but not totally dark. 4 blasts of pyro at the entranceway, with Fury waiting there until they all go off, working the crowd. Walks down to the ring confident and cool. Once in the ring, once again trying to work the crowd, sparkler pyros raining down from the ceiling around the ring. If you need help, I can try to expain it better. Stats: ¯¯¯¯¯ Strength: 5 - Though he put on some weight from his last run, another year of life under his belt has kept the strength gain at a minimum. Also with the injuries of the past taking their toll, he's gone easy on the full-blown training he used to do. Speed: 6 - His workout routines haven't been as rigorous in his 'retirement', but his jet-setting ways (and the price of gas) have gotten him doing a lot of cardio and legwork... Bike-riding in England, swimming in the Pacific, that sort of thing. He vowed to not let his age hit him in all aspects of life, and it shows here. Vitality: 6 - As with Speed, his cardio-style focus shows here too. Age has managed to not erode his stamina work overmuch. Charisma: 3 - If the promos weren't overly clear, he's coming back because of the business and the fans. He'll perform for them, and should draw more pop than before because of it, but it might not be overly evident in the beginning. Style: On the side of speed and (eventually) tactics. A good bit of submission wrestling and focus work on the head / legs. But with a Strength of 5, there's a big move or two in the tank yet. Ring rust will minimize the tactics to start, as he rediscovers the art of wrestling and being beaten on a regular basis. Signature moves: - Twist Of Fate - "Trip To The Dawg Pound": Stratusfaction - Dragon Sleeper - Grapevine Ankle Lock - Springboard Huracanrana - Damascus Head-Leglock Common moves: - Feint roundhouse kick into a leg sweep from the back - Irish whip into a backdrop (using opponent's momentum to put them over) - Short-arm and irish whip clotheslines (see above) - Top turnbuckle legdrop - Sleepers - Shoulder charges to a cornered opponent - Sleeper slam - Forward and regular Russian legsweeps - Crossface chickenwing - Sickle hold / Muta lock - Lifting leg stomp - Scissors kick (either off the ropes or off the top turnbuckle) - Spinning toe hold - Tiger suplex - Rolling cross-arm German suplexes (mostly on the lightweights, and usually in groups of 3) - Polish Hammer Rare moves: - Cuyahoga-sault (Think of Taker's "Old School", but instead of a chop, it ends in a diving moonsault... Or it ends with Fury just driving the opponent back-first to the mat. If the moonsault hits, it's a major move, inciting a gargantuan pop... You can picture it, I know you can. But there's a reason this one's a rare move... He has yet to really pull it off) - Step-Up Enzuigiri Finishers: - "Dead Man's Curve": Nearly identical to the "619", but Fury threads through the bottom 2 ropes, letting him deliver a more "uppercutted" kick under his opponent's jaw. Decent Strength, combined with higher-than-average Speed, this finisher is a heavy shot more geared to the big guys. - "Lightning And Thunder": The ol' Double Stunner comes back for another play. The first is just a quick kneel-down Stunner (not a full drop). Fury then stands, taking a couple of quick steps to the side before dropping the opponent into a more "normal" Stunner... The second half resembles the "RKO". He'll bust this finisher out with lighter opposition, or if he got a good pop coming in. Notes: - Proud, but not pompous. Tactically minded, but not the most stunning technique. He's knocking off ring rust, and probably will be for a bit. - Fury is a bit more in balance stats and move-wise than the past. While overall he's not the wrestler he once was, he's not bad. His speed is still his best attribute, and that along with a more technical set of submissions and such will allow him to frustrate the slower, bigger opponents. His Vitality will allow him a degree of "damage sponge" ability, but he won't be able to stand in with a big guy for long. Fury will (once the ring rust is gone) fight Cruisers smarter, focusing on diminishing -their- speed through attrition of the legs and (less so) the torso, and using the few big moves he's got for putting them away. - He'll have issues with the HOSS~! style of wrestler with big power movesets (Read this as the Janus-style wrestler... Vitality can only go so far), and will be slowly frustrated over the course of a match with ultra-speedsters like Wildchild (unless he works the legs into oblivion, they still have speed to spare over his). - His moves... He tries to show a little passion and flair to keep the fans behind him, but sometimes there's hesitance and "unsureness" in them, due to being out of the regularity of the sport for so long. Again. - His best pops and crowd response will still come from the Cleveland area, due to how long he lived / trained / etc. there. He'll pull decent fans in the Seattle / Tacoma area due to him living there now, and spending a lot of time there in recent history. The rest of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana will recognize and respect him (read as: more than normal pop) from his Indie circuit days in OVW and the like. He will not be well-received (read as: damn near Heel response) in Miami and surrounding areas due to his past with local star and former INGWF / SWFer Longdogger Pete. Bio: Maybe when I find it all.

Honestly, I had a Hell of a time writing even -that- much... I was rusty as all get-out. But, considering I'd written Fury as not expecting to wrestle so soon after signing on... And he hadn't been wrestling for a year plus... I just couldn't justify him being able to get back in the ring and dominate. Surprising, yes... But... I made an impression, didn't I? Anyway... A few more promos, some looksies at old matches and stuf... I'll be back in form (and so will Fury) in short order.

    PROMO: Welcome Back!

I noticed things weren't quite the same as I arrived at the venue of the next SWF show, All Hallows Eve. I'd forgotten exactly where the Galen Center was in LA... But remembered the building. I was standing before that same building again. "How the mighty have fallen," I murmured to myself as I crossed the lot to the doors. My credentials and everything were already waiting for me at the security desk, which I had hoped for... But found oddly suspiscious and... All-too convenient? It was a very weird feeling to have, considering I'd been on the lines with SWF upper management the last few days, thanks to a game company in England. Eh. It was just things in my head, I was sure. I walked into the arena, and saw it was setting up to be an up-close-and-personal affair for the WFers. Galen Center is the USC Trojans' basketball arena... And as such, only holds about 10,000 people. I'd caught up to speed as much as I could on the state of the SWF, and it was... Not good. It explained the 'intimate' settings, and the lack of shows. They'd be lucky to pull 8,000 in here on Halloween. And it was kind of sad, really. When I'd left the business last time, things were looking up. New advertising deals had been signed, new talent came in, new management. But, apparently, someone somewhere along the line 'pissed it all away'. I think a man named Peters had something to do with that, but... As it was, the SWF was again under a new banner... And the guidon of said banner was coming down the hall. "Chris! Chris Fury!" Landon Maddix... The newest commshioner of the SWF, quickly strode down the hall my way. He was all grins, like a kid in the candy store. However, the young woman tailing him looked like the older sister, disappointed and mildly disgusted in her brother's exuberance. He reached me in few strides, shaking my hand... Over-eagerly. Alarm bells were going off in my head, but... I said I'd see this through. "Mister Maddix..." "Landon." "Hmm?" "Landon... Please... Mister Maddix seems so... Stuffy... I like to be approchable by the wrestlers." He flashed a grin, which seemed way too big for his face. A doorbell rang in my mind... Followed by a pause, and a voice saying, "Land Shark". It was spooky. "Alright... Landon... Pleasure to meet you." He shook my hand again, then a 'harumph' from the background... Coming from a woman none-too-pleased with neglect. "OH! Right... Chris, this is Megan Skye, my cohort in all affairs SWF." I reached over to meet Megan's hand... Her shake was firm, cool confidence seemed to radiate off her. "A pleasure to finally meet you." I nodded. It was pretty quickly evident who was the brains of the outfit. Landon grinned once more. "Unfortunately I have a lot of things to get to, so I'll let Megan here handle the particulars. Heh... She's more the brains of the outfit right at the moment as is." Wow... News flash there, junior. "So... I'll say my good-byes now..." He shook my hand again. It was like he was in a political training course. "Welcome back, Chris... And good luck!" I'm sorry... What? He had turned and already bolted out the door before I could open my mouth to question that choice of words. "If you'd come this way," Megan said, not a hint of confusion in her voice, "we''ll get you into the system, square your paperwork up, and get you ready." Again, the choice of words was causing me some issues. But I knew that I had to see the contract they drew up for me before I asked too much, or got too committed. We walked a little ways to the administrative section of the Center, where SWF had been put up. It was functional, if austere, I hesitated at the doorway, having a few... Shall we say, 'none-too-pleasant' memories of talking to people in charge of the SWF when contracts were involved. Megan noted my hesitation, and flashed me a sincere smile. "Come in, the water's fine." I shook my head, breaking the threshold into the office. One foot into committment. "I can understand your trepidation," she was stating as she rifled through some files. "Please, sit." I had a seat at the nearby table as she continued. "We all had our issues with Joe Peters... But you have to understand there was a good with the bad." I nodded, because I really -did- understand. He saved the franchise with some very lucrative and shrewd business practices. He just didn't give a damn about the people in his employ. "You guys seem to be doing alright without him." Megan scoffed softly as she pulled out a manilla folder. "We were for a bit. But... Things have gotten rough. Sponsorships pulled, money tight. I never thought Disney was a good fit anyway..." Oh that must've been a story. She opened up the folder, pulling out a pen, and placed them in front of me. "But... Despite all that, we're trying to do good for our people. Go ahead and look that over... It's last-minute, but I think you'll understand how committed we are to the workers and trying to get the SWF back to where it was in years past." I pursed my lips as I read the documents, determined to find out for myself if her statement rang true. It was a very standard, basic contract; easily worded, basic royalties, insurance, blah blah blah... Advertisements and endorsements encouraged for the benefit of the company, but not required... Nice. Especially after my last contract... Everything else was standard, but offered me a good bit of leeway and control over things... The salary was the least of my concerns. It didn't look like anyone was trying to snowjob me. I picked up the pen with a nod. "More than fair." I signed in the appropo spots, and a smile of relief cast across the co-commish's face. "I'm glad," she said happily as she took the materials back. "We need talent like yours something bad right now, so we're trying to make things as easy and right as possible. I'll get you a copy of this as soon as we get you settled in... We'll need to clear you through Andrea Montgomery, our head med tech... Then I'll show you the locker rooms, staging area, workout gym so you can get ready for Wednesday..." It was right about then, as she was heading out the door, that my mind went full-blown Red Alert. And the klaxons must've been loud, because she stopped and turned back. "Is something wrong?" "Yeah... It almost sounds like y'all are looking for me to wrestle at this All Hallows Eve event?" The confusion on her face was intense... So much so, I almost felt bad. "In fact, yes! We have you opening the card!" Her exclamation wasn't one directed towards belittling or chiding me, but one of puzzlement. "I thought... I... Oh... Landon!" She hissed his name, part spiteful, but mostly in non-surprise and disappointment. She instantly reached for her phone, pushing a few buttons... "I'll put him on speaker, and we'll get this solved." She pursed her lips as the ring came through the speakers... Again... Ag... "Yeah, Meg... What's up?" She winced slightly. "Uhm... Landon? Did you forget to tell Chris that he was wrestling at All Hallows Eve?" There was a silence on the other of the end of the phone, but the line was still open. A silence that lasted several moments before... "Land..." "Oh! My bad! Heh... Yeah, I figured he could lead off the night. Knock off the rust before we throw him in full-time." It was my turn to wince. "Landon, you realize you gave me all of 2 days to prep, right?" "Oh hey, Chris! Yeah, I know... Sorry about that, but with all the prep work and all... It's too late to back the match off the card now. But I've seen your work, and I'm sure you'll be fine! Anyway, I have to concentrate on the road... Bye!" And with a click, he was gone. Megan and I looked at each other, and she shook her head. "I'm -so- sorry," she started, but I held up a hand with a sigh. "Not your fault... Or his, for that matter... Just wants to play a card he's dealt, I guess." I stood up, heading for the door. "I'll need a screening room, tape of my opponent, and that tour." And as Megan led the way, I almost chuckled to myself. "Welcome back to the SWF."

    PROMO: Erase / Rewind

Part 1: "I've changed my mind... I take it back... Erase and rewind, 'cause I've been changing my mind. Erase and rewind, 'cause I've been changing my mind. I've changed my mind..." The Cardigans, "Erase / Rewind" ----- They say there's a time in one's life where something happens... Something seemingly innocuous, but enough to jar the synapes and neurons of your mind. It sets something off in the inner recesses of your brain that starts small, but that cascades and echoes through the halls of memories almost obliterated and forgotten in the sands of time... Until it coalesces into a decision that could very well alter your way of thought... Or life. The "Butterfly Effect" of one's psyche. Mine started in the Tacoma Mall. I know, I know... Not exactly the locale you'd think of having a epiphany of existence. I never said that the time and place of such a revelation were set in stone. However, maybe a little history lesson leading up to this major insight is needed though... ----- My life... My life had progressed quite a ways in the span of a year plus. I'd finally made the permanent change of venue to Washington State... A little over a year ago now. A little town called Puyallup, about 8 miles north-ish of Tacoma. I'd finally traded big-city life for a taste of the countryside. Now, don't get me wrong... I still travelled quite a bit... From coast to coast, actually. New York to Los Angeles, and points in between. I'd even been overseas. USO-sponsored trips to Kuwait, and the heart of Iraq. But I finally traded the quiet of the Midwest for the minor hustle-and-bustle of the West Coast. Well, save for a few 'allegiances' that I just couldn't part with. But a big rut in my life, and a big hole in my heart were filled by Karina. Not a city or any place, mind you. A person. 5'10, with flowing auburn hair and a hint of the exotic Far East in her features. I met her on a trip to Cambridge where she was being use as a model for a video game. And had I not been there for a similar purpose, I would've laughed the whole thing off. We quite literally bumped into each other... Me trying to do an end-run around a taxi that I'll swear to this day was being driven by someone sans brain, and her walking out of a local cafe... Unbeknownst to her, she was in the middle of my desperate route avoiding certain auto-induced injury. I swiftly discovered her standing there... And her latte swiftly discovered her blouse. I managed to catch her before she completely went off-kilter and hit the pavement... And it was a moment... One of those moments in time that just falls in your lap. You can't know for sure what happened, but you know for sure that something just went incredibly right. She confirmed my own thoughts with a laugh, smiling brown eyes, and this line: "Well, this is the first time I've seen the knight in shining armor cause the damsel her distress to begin with." Two complete strangers literally running into each other is how it began... And it's progressed from there, most pleasantly. I got my video game gig squared... And though the company she modelled for wound up going in another direction, I continued to refer to her as "Narikochan". And she got her latte after all. But I've digressed pretty far. Back to the mall. ----- Karina and I have moved in together, and we've been preparing for a costume ball up in Seattle. While she was at work, I decided to pick up the last pieces of our outfits. And while Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann weren't redheads, we figured we could take the same amount of "creative liberties" that Jerry Bruckheimer took with a good pirate story. I was passing by the GameStop in the mall, and wouldn't have batted an eye... I'm not much of a gamer, though Karina has gotten me 'out of my shell', in that respect. As it was, I was just passing the door when I heard a voice... A teen's voice. It wasn't the voice itself, but the words... "Hah! Here comes the thunder and lightning to put you down for the count!" The butterfly flaps its wings. I stopped... Looked back towards the store... Something in the words caught me just right... Just square enough... I turned around, and into the store I went. Sure enough, the voice belonged to a 14-year old kid that was playing one of the system demos in the store... I think it was the Xbox 360... But the game he was playing was what caught my attention. I don't recognize a lot of games, but I -did- recognize this one, and the two representatives currently in combat on the screen. One was a bit wiry... Tall and lanky in a way... With a decidedly English look about him. I shook my head; the amazing details these game systems bring out in pixels... In this case, two features jumped out at me: a red-hued, sleeveless trench at ringside... But not leather, or pleather, or anything of the sort... And the man's face... It struck me as odd, but then the recollection hit of a man I once knew... One green eye, one yellow. I never got to ask that man how he did it. I'm sure I would've gotten a Hell of an answer. Something about exploding toy stores, likely. The other combatant... Oh yes, I recognized him too... Especially familiar. Dark red ponytail, tanned skin, goatee... They even went through the trouble of getting the gold ring on the chain right. Same one... My thoughts derailed as I watched the on-screen action, the goatee-d contestant moving fluidly, delivering a kick to the gut of the other, then grappling him in a way to bounce off the mat... Not once, but twice. The teen pumped his fist triumphantly in the air, like he was the one delivering that lethal move. "Thunder and lightning again! F-T-W, baby... F-T-W!" I had to chuckle at that... Though I hadn't a clue what he was saying, I had an idea of the meaning. "Kid," I began slowly, "I don't think your opponent is going to go down for long with that move..." "Yeah, whatever." The kid kept his eyes on the screen... I knew his type... Definintely didn't want to listen to anyone out of his 'circle'. I was like that... Once. Turned out badly. "Trust me... The man you're fighting and his crew got out of an FAO Schwartz that was... Unexpectedly imploded around him. He won't stay down to that." "Pfft, whatev..." The teen had half-turned to me, then noticed that his opponent had indeed gotten back to his feet. Hit swiftly paused the game, turning to glare at me. "What the Hell do you know about this shit, mister...?" His voice trailed off as a look of concentration, then mildly-feared recognition passed on his face. I couldn't help but smile. "I know enough to tell you that it's 'Lightning And Thunder', not the reverse." "Oh my God... I-I-I... You're... I can't believe..." The kid stammered for a few moments, then seemed to halve his age in a moment. "I'm sorry for swearing at you... Uhm... Can I have your autograph?" The flap of a butterfly's wings... Causes a typhoon of memories... All because of a kid that cursed at me in GameStop. Epiphanies aren't fickle, or timely, or confined to moments of contemplation or meditation. They just are.
