I can accept that just fine. What I can't accept is them repeatedly expressing their dislike in the form of personal attacks. You think there aren't people on here I don't like? I've just got enough courtesy to not randomly insult them out of the blue for no apparent reason. Which is, indeed, the crime that EHME is currently being tried for here.

And hey, more flaming! From... uh... some guy I don't know.

"Should be"? He's been insulting me for years in an almost obsessive fashion.

It would still be a better ending than No Country For Old Men. You're stupid. Hey, if we can ban EHME for flaming in the flaming folder, can we ban this guy for flaming in a non-flaming folder?

  7. My favorite moments, aside from those mentioned, have been when Sawyer snaps and just fuckin' murders a bad guy. Like the fake-beard Other whose name I forget, or Locke's dad. Part of me always finds it badass when a hero just unexpectedly kills a villain who had it coming.
  8. Truthiness has always been a Leelee-lover, so it's not like this was a change of character for him. Serious question: why are you certain Leena did the hacking? She claims it wasn't her, and there really isn't any evidence. Not that I couldn't see her doing something like this, but more like I couldn't see her doing something like this and then not laughing and taking credit afterwards.

  10. Yeah, looks like they'll be streaming the episodes on Hulu. That site generally keeps the last five new episodes aired up for watching, in real nice quality too.

My general view of banning is fairly well-known. I vote In. Also because now he's at MY board 24/7.
  12. Just saying, for Joss shows usually we get a whole shitload of people in here doing running commentary on each and every episode. Kinda like the 241-page monstrosity of the Lost thread. This one... does not follow that trend. Which to me is somewhat worrisome, since the Whedon fanboy contingent on this board is historically so strong.
  13. Sooo, did anyone else actually watch this damn thing? Considering that this board once spawned a thread which went two hundred and twenty two pages about the last season of Angel, the apathy here can't be a good thing as far as the ratings are concerned.
  14. Well, that was certainly a Joss Whedon pilot on Fox. Reminded me more of "The Train Job" on Firefly more than anything else Joss has done. Same feeling of two hours worth of exposition squashed into one hour of time. Same disheartening focus on generic Exciting TV Stuff in the first twenty minutes before slowing down to consider more thoughtful subjects. Same plot where our mercenary protagonists are firstly in it for the money, but then run into a situation so awful that they're morally forced to become big damn heroes. Same massive crew of characters all thrown at us at once, to the point where I don't remember any of their names besides Echo. Aside from that, I think my reaction to this episode as a whole is identical to that of seeing Amy Acker made up with a bunch of scars all over her face: it's not what I expected, and it's rather ballsy to go that route, but I'm not sure if I like it. We do seem to have a good supporting cast, at least, both the old familiar faces and the noobs all seemed to do well in their parts. Dushku... I'm still not sold on. She's always seemed somewhat insincere and false in everything I've ever seen her in, and although she was playing it more toned-down and subtle than usual, those old tendencies still peeked through at times. On the plus side, they're already come up with some fascinating ideas with which to play around with the main gimmick. Like, the borrowed personality accidentally running into someone she once knew; you'd expect that more like around the middle of the season, not in the very first episode. And of course there's all the subtextual meditation upon the nature of memory, identity, what makes up the human soul, yadda yadda yadda. In short: I'll keep watching, I'm curious where Whedon is going with this, since in tone it does feel different from his previous work. (Especially noteworthy was how ordinary the dialogue sounded, with none of the cutesy slang and witticisms which overpopulate most of Joss's work.) However, I will be terribly surprised if the Fox viewers will be willing to watch something with such an existential point to the proceedings, especially in the godfucking Friday Night Timeslot O' Doom. And oh yeah, Dushku and Summer Glau's little bumper host segments were just embarassing and counterproductive to the mood of the show, hope they cut that shit out soon. Even worse, Fox somehow figured out how to do the impossible: make Glau look ugly, with that awards-show dress and caked-on makeup.
  15. This story wouldn't be getting any attention whatsoever if the father didn't look so much freakishly younger than he really is. 13-year-old parents aren't exactly an unheard-of thing in this world.
  16. Yeah, but the O6's rescue would tend to put a dent in that theory. They were on the island for, what, four months? By that count, they would've been missing out of the real world for twenty-one years. However, no weird timeframe whatsoever has been mentioned in terms of how long it was between the plane crash and the O6 popping up. One must assume that it was just a few months for the rest of the world as well. And for Daniel's meeting Past Desmond to sync up with Present Desmond's dream, the ratio would have to be something more like 1/1000 of real time, which isn't possible within realm of the stuff we've already seen. Yeah, there seems to be a time discrepency on and near the island itself. Recall Daniel's early experiments with the rocket, showing that it took way too long for it to get from the ship to the island. But none of these discrepencies are consistent. Can we all just face it that the writers of Lost are regular humans who might make some bullshit up?
  17. But since Old Biff's actions were ultimately undone by Doc & Marty back in 1955 after they saw the Alternate 1985, there wouldn't have been an alternate 2015 for Old Biff to find, and... ...y'know what, fuck it. Time travel story = guaranteed inevitable plot holes, period. And there's so many plot holes on Lost in general that we really shouldn't run ourselves ragged trying to justify them all.
  18. ...no, that still makes absolutely no sense. My point is, why does Desmond only remember it three years later? It hasn't been three years for Daniel. If Daniel and Desmond's space-time continuums are somehow linked, so that their past meeting has happened for Desmond only after it happens for Daniel, then Desmond should've had that dream shortly after he left the island. Also, what about when Desmond was time-skipping and talked to Past Daniel back at Oxford? Daniel apparently remembered all that shit later, and recognized Desmond upon first seeing him.
  19. Because Daniel didn't "implant" the memory in Desmond until Desmond was off the island. But... how? How does that work? I don't understand what kind of sense that's supposed to make. Like I said, it'd be different if Desmond had remembered it just shortly after they left the island, since in Daniel's timeline it was only several hours later that he encountered Desmond at the hatch. Meanwhile, Des doesn't remember anything for three years, until the plot requires him to meet Daniel's mom at the same time as the othre bunch? Just sounds like a plot contrivance to keep the story moving, pure & simple.
  20. Still doesn't fit, though. For Daniel, only a couple days at most had gone by in between the freighter blowing up and him meeting Desmond at the hatch in the past. So why does Desmond not remember it until three years after he gets off the island? As for Rousseau/Jin, it's just a simple plot hole. Doubtful that in season 1/2 they were planning in such detail, so far ahead, that they already knew that Jin would run into young Rousseau for a brief time.

  22. So where has she gotten the money? Government disability and food stamps wouldn't even cover the $100K in fertility costs, much less the cosmetic surgery and other stuff.
  23. Okay, this stuff wasn't in the earlier reports I saw. Yeah, I take it all back, looks like she's a total nutjob.
  24. Flair's done it too. Remember how he never fell off a ladder or rolled around in thumbtacks until 2006. But I do see your point. Yeah, very few guys who were legit huge stars in the 80s would be doing these types of matches today. That's one of the movie's minor plot holes, they never explained how Randy went from being a legendary main eventer to being completely bankrupt. I assume he pissed it away on drugs and stuff like that, but we're never told.
