Unless you were kidding when you said that, I completely disagree. A resurgent Jagr and some surprisingly good goaltending is why the Rangers are where they are. Not energy players. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, I'm not joking. They Rangers take a shitload of penalties. Like the 3rd most in the league. Ortmyer, Moore, Hollwig are great penalty killers. Ortmyer is a shot blocking machine. These guys, and Prucha, and Tutyin bring energy to the team that they haven't had in a long long time. Obviously Jagr has been incredible, and having two goalies playing awesome defintley helps, but I can honestly say the Rangers aren't where they are without the HMO line. Jagr even sad it a couple weeks ago, that Ortmyer and Moore and Hollwig and a couple others are the best role players hes ever been with.

I know the dailynews isn't a terrific source, but its reporting that the Tigers offered Craig Monroe and some prospects for Carl Pavano, and the Yankees turned it down!?!? An Outfielder with great range, who had 90 RBIs and 20 HRs in Comerica, and you don't want him?!? Sure his OBP is pretty bad, but hes basically got decent splits from both sides of the plate, and again, plays an awesome CF. Saying this report is true, wtf are the Yankees thinking?

It was really just that one line (the "HMO Line") that seemingly takes 30 second shifts consisting of nothing but skating into people. I didn't see them doing much with the puck (such as, I dunno, carrying it or passing it or trying to gain possession of it) ... their entire mission is just to hit people and energize the crowd. At that point in the game, it was more important that the B's try to score a goal or two, rather than worry about who's winning on the hits chart. Of course, the B's lost on both the scoreboard and the fictitious hits chart, so yeah, the B's still suck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They do more than that if you watch them on a consistent basis Moore is more of a scorer, he has six or so, but Ortmyer, and especailly Hollwig just go around and create energy. Moore and Ortmyer are both awesome at killing penalties and blocking shots. Without them, the Rangers would have no chance at being where they are in the standings.

I know Palmer and Manning and Steve Smith and James are getting MVP consideration, but I honestly think Tiki Barber deserves some MVP love. The guy is freaking amazing. He is the thing that runs the Giant offense, and they would be fucked without him. Its weird because NY players usually get so much attention, but Tiki is so underrated imo.

I think a lot of it is philiosophy. I really honest to god think the Yanks are trying to change things, by keeping their prospects, and building up their farm system. I also think it would be a PR disaster, as hardcore Yank fans have it in their brain that they HAVE TO keep Cano and Wang, and that their future hall of famers. They need to improve CF, which hopefully they'll do. I'm mostly concerned about the bullpen. If Gordon doesn't come back, there in trouble. I'd honesty be happier with signing Gordon and Bob Howry, than just getting Ryan.

Probably not, but thats just my opinion. I think the Eagles D is their biggest problem. Everytime the Eagles got close, the Giants came right back with a score. One D stop in the 4th quarter and they might have won.

He was ok. Terrible in the 1st half, better in the 2nd. Some of his stats are padded because the Giants were just playing zone the last two drives, and were just trying to keep the Eagles on the field as long as they could to kill the clock.

But any trade for any good CF is going to require Wang and/or Cano.

Buster Olney wrote it best in his column today. First Ryan doesn't like the NY atmosphere, Gordon wants a 3 year deal, and really, this has all the makings of a horrific offseason. While I wasn't old enough at the time, maybe the Yankees are back to the times of the early 90s, where players didn't want to play in NY.

This reminds me of the in 01, where coming into the game, the Giants had defeated the Eagles 9 game in a row. On MNF, the Giants totally dominant the game, but don't take advantage of oppertunities and only lead 9-0. Eagles kick a FG early in the 4th, and then McNabb leads the Eagles down the field on the last drive of the game to steal a win. The Giants have only beaten the Eagles once since. This game is exactly the same so far.

Channing Frye has back to back to back 20 point games. He reminds me of Kurt Thomas in a way, with a little more range, and is more athletic.

Giants unability to score TDs in the redzone is getting really bad. Eli needs to stop his lovest fest with Burress, which means throwing to Shockey or Toomer, who are in single coverage, unlike Burress.
