They give up a homer to Jeremy Hermida? Who in the hell is Jeremy Hermida? (sung to the tune of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego")
-
And if we have the same playoff teams as in 2004 (with CWS in Minny's place), why's that so bad? The 2004 playoffs were one of the greatest I've seen since I started watching the sport.
-
Sure looks that way. Cleveland's gonna have to spin some magic to keep it up now.

Man-Ram, see ya. 3-2.

If Roenick had been on the receiving end of the Ruutu hit, he'd have complained for weeks. Also, Sean Avery is a shit.

This was a sure thing from the start of training camp. Sutter's mentioned a few times that Dion would be staying with the big club this year.
-
I wouldn't say the White Sox are playoff bound for sure just yet.

Gowan - When There's Time For Love

I repeat my previous statement. Now, the fans are going to jump to the conclusion that Tejada's juicing too, even if he isn't. Tejada's reputation is tarnished, and he will be branded a user by the media, who are looking to sensationalize rather than report the facts. Palmeiro will have thrown his teammate, who thought Raffi was his friend, under the bus: what's worse, this basically happened for no reason other than for Palmeiro to have someone go down with him. What a lowlife.
-
Judging on how anyone who's even fingered as a user, proof or no proof, is considered a cheater by the court of public opinion, it looks like Palmeiro knows he's cooked, but doesn't want to go down alone.

Edmonton played what was basically their NHL team. Calgary sat the following: Iginla, Amonte, Langkow, Reinprecht, Kobasew, Donovan, Yelle, Nilson, Leopold, Warrener, Hamrlik and Kiprusoff.

You guys see the CGY/EDM highlights? Boy. I'd be worried if I was an Oilers fan.

Big props to the Rocket. Considering how his day went, I think 1 ER over 6 1/3 is a damned good line.

EASTERN CONFERENCE 1) Philadelphia Flyers (Forsberg could put them over the top) 2) Ottawa Senators (Playoff performance their only concern) 3) Tampa Bay Lightning (Have gotten worse, but should win a weak division) 4) Boston Bruins (Added a whole lot of talent, gelling-time should keep them from the division title) 5) Atlanta Thrashers (Hossa and Kovalchuk could do this by themselves) 6) Montreal Canadiens (Pretty much the same, but without Brisebois... a major plus) 7) Pittsburgh Penguins (Could finish anywhere between 7th and 10th, really... benefit of the doubt) 8 ) New York Islanders (Haven't really improved, but should take advantage of a weak conference) 9) New Jersey Devils (Loss of Nieds, opening up of the game will hurt NJ) 10) Toronto Maple Leafs (Too old to win in new NHL, could sneak into playoffs if injuries stay low) 11) Carolina Hurricanes (So mediocre that I can't think of anything to say here) 12) Florida Panthers (Luongo will feel like he's in a shooting gallery again) 13) Buffalo Sabres (Full of holes everywhere, except in the crease) 14) New York Rangers (Half of the 2004-05 Hartford Wolfpack will be in the bigs... bad news) 15) Washington Capitals (Could challenge the expansion-year Caps as the worst team of all time) WESTERN CONFERENCE 1) Vancouver Canucks (A regular-season powerhouse for sure, but can they get over the playoff hump?) 2) San Jose Sharks (Young and fast: prime candidates for a breakout year) 3) Nashville Predators (See San Jose Sharks: surprise of the year) 4) Calgary Flames (Full season with Kiprusoff, second line taking pressure off Iggy will help out a lot) 5) Detroit Red Wings (Have lost a step for sure, but are chock-full of talent) 6) Edmonton Oilers (The most-improved team over the off-season will head back to the dance) 7) Los Angeles Mighty Ducks or Possibly Seals of Anaheim (All joking aside, a much-improved team) 8 ) Los Angeles Kings (Improved, but goaltending and injuries still question marks) 9) Columbus Blue Jackets (Ready to make a run, if Denis holds up in the nets and Nash isn't too hurt) 10) Phoenix Coyotes (Is more age really the answer? Still, could sneak in) 11) Colorado Avalanche (Losing Forsberg and Foote will hurt a lot, but more division play will be the real killer) 12) Dallas Stars (Too old, too slow; rebuilding necessary in Dallas) 13) St. Louis Blues (Sacrificed depth for Tkachuk and Weight, and will pay for it dearly: Lalime isn't the answer) 14) Minnesota Wild (Game opening up + more divisional play = Wild netting a lottery pick) 15) Chicago Blackhawks (Bust of the year: they have Khabibulin, and... er... well...) Leave 'em. Edit: For the hell of it, let's do playoffs too. EASTERN CONFERENCE (1) Philadelphia def. ( 8 ) NY Islanders in 5 (2) Ottawa def. (7) Pittsburgh in 7 (3) Tampa Bay def. (6) Montreal in 6 (5) Atlanta def. (4) Boston in 6 (1) Philadelphia def. (5) Atlanta in 6 (2) Ottawa def. (3) Tampa Bay in 7 (1) Philadelphia def. (2) Ottawa in 7 WESTERN CONFERENCE (1) Vancouver def. ( 8 ) Los Angeles in 6 (2) San Jose def. (7) Anaheim in 6 (6) Edmonton def. (3) Nashville in 7 (4) Calgary def. (5) Detroit in 6 (6) Edmonton def. (1) Vancouver in 7 (4) Calgary def. (2) San Jose in 7 (4) Calgary def. (6) Edmonton in 7 (Game 7: 4-3 in double-OT ) STANLEY CUP FINALS (1) Philadelphia def. (4) Calgary in 6

I've got no complaints with the one they decided to air instead.

Holy crap. Some people here aren't about to allow anyone to disagree with their opinion, huh? Wrestling isn't an exact science, guys. It's like music: everyone has their own taste. I personally think that HBK is a great worker when he's motivated, and a good one when he isn't.
-
Yes, but he's on the SD side now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay, then get Dean Malenko to do it. I'd figure he could teach a wet mop how to put on matches that'd hit at least ***.
-
Is Fit Finlay still with the company? Ashley already acknowledged that she wanted to wrestle, and that she had already started training. Good... but it doesn't make her a wrestler yet. WWE should do with her what they did with Trish: put her in a management position on-air while Fit (or another of the road agents if he isn't around) shows her how to do the in-ring part.

1) Brodeur 2) Khabibulin 3) Luongo 4) Kiprusoff 5) Vokoun ... is how I'd put them.
-
Since when is everyone in agreement about those two topics? I'd put Iginla and Brodeur in those two slots.
-
Rumour: the defenceman is either Chris Phillips or Greg de Vries.

Is it just me, or did Chavo's character seem really bitter about the "prevalent racism"?

She couldn't have gotten some from Milton Bradley?

As we all kind of figured would happen, the reaction from Alberta to the passing of the gay marriage bill is one of outrage. The papers have been filled with columns and letters that mainly repeat the same thing: the Liberals' contributions to the "moral bankruptcy" of Canada. These same letters laud our provincial government, and the federal Conservatives, for standing up to the government and showing Alberta's superior morality, in comparison to that of the East. Here's what bugs me about it: Alberta is in no way, shape or form morally superior to anybody due to our collective (at least, the ones they'll print) stance against the bill. Know why? Because the popular opinion here has nothing to do with what "we" think of homosexuals. The only reason that the majority of Albertans are against this bill is because the Liberals proposed it. We are, simply, a flock of sheep who will believe whatever someone wearing Tory blue tells us. If the Liberals opposed gay marriage, we'd be all for it out here, complaining that the government was withholding basic human rights from our same-sex brethren. It never changes. Albertans aren't the hayseed-chewing, cattle-raising, cousin-fucking rednecks we're made to look like: rather, we're simply mindless zombies, brainwashed by the Tories and the media into believing whatever they want us to. Actually, I'm not convinced that what we are is any better than what non-Albertans think we are. (Edit: Upon reading this, I think that someone may infer that I believe that homosexuality is morally wrong: this couldn't be further from the truth, in actuality. I am simply trying to point out that the ones who say so don't have the high ground that they think they do.)

I dunno... I like the JBL character. He sucks in the ring, but he can talk and has gotten over. As much as I hate to admit it, at this point, he belongs in the mains.
