This guy took some head injuries and scars in order to (quite possibly) save this woman's life. Given the reaction of the asshole when the guy confronted him, I'd say it's a good bet that the woman would have ended up in some serious straits had the situation escalated any further. The coworker is irrelevant at this point, and the woman came forward. Just because you couldn't be bothered to help someone in this situation (scared to take a few knocks maybe?), doesn't mean that this guy is a fool for doing so.

It was the asshole that attacked the samaritan. He didn't go in to it looking for a fight. Regardless, taking as asskicking for this is one of the best reasons to take one.

I think my Firefox is infected by devils. Whenever I open it and try to surf around I get a message saying that the connection was refused when trying to connect to x website. I get that for every page I try. IE still works fine for me. Did I end up somehow changing a web setting in this or something?
