  1. Some Vengeance stuff from the latest Figure Four Weekly: Bryan said he was told the finish to Angle vs. Orton will make sense eventually. Said the finish to Sabu vs. Cena was changed the day of the show due to "heavy lobbying" from Michael Hayes, who does not like ECW or Heyman and doesn't want to see them getting over on Raw. Angle vs. Orton: **1/2 "I would not have booked this finish. ECW is too new and weak to beat its top star, even like this. I guess making a top contender for HHH is more important than keeping the ECW brand strong" Umaga vs. Eugene: DUD Flair vs. Foley: DUD Bryan called this a huge disappointment and said that it had high expectations and that, even if turns into something great, people will remember this as being disappointing. IC Three-Way:**3/4 RVD vs. Edge: ***1/2 Fake Kane vs. Real Kane: *1/2 Cena vs. Sabu: ***1/2 DX vs. Spirit Squad: ***1/4 Post-PPV/Raw notes: The Fake Kane vs. Real Kane was originally going to last through to Wrestlemania. Everyone was drug tested Sunday.
  2. Meltzer posted this about Montreal on WC in one of the numerous threads that always crops up about the subject: I should be surprised that some people still either cannot or will not accept that Montreal as real, but I'm not.
  3. You said the highest segments would always be the opening and the closing. In those cases, the highest segments didn't involve the opening.
  4. 4/17: Michaels vs. Umaga with Vince at ringisde did the second highest viewership gain of the show, 671,000 and was the ratings peak for same show. This took place about halfway through, which, you might note, is not at the opening or the closing of the show. 5/1: Joey Style's promo gained 499,000 viewers, the second biggest viewership gain of the show. Again, this was not the opening segment nor was it the closing segment. 5/8: Edge/Foley/Dreamer + Maria vs. James gained 715,000, which was the second biggest viewership gain of the show. Once more, this was not the opening segment nor the closing segment. Should I go on?
  5. That's not even close to being true.
  6. Don't tempt me. You cant compare Cenas ratings to the years of The Rocks and SCSA, along with Nitro in its heyday And we, or anyone, would do that because? We're just pointing out that Cena draws, while you're...well, I don't know what it is you're doing.
  7. Bullshit!!! THE WOST AND MOST BORING RAWS are the ones he has headlined. The T.v. ratings have been shit. He does NOT draw like The ROCK, SCSA, Brett Hart, the old HBK, Macho, Hulk, Fuck even Taker and Angle Thanks for reading what's been posted.
  8. There was no reason to do anything with Umaga and Kamala other than what was done.
  9. Those are good gains, but where were they on the card? The first four were the main events, the fifth was the opener.
  10. I'm leaning towards Edge pinning Cena. Cena would look better chasing the title than being the champ. Besides, Edge didn't do a bad job when he had the belt. He deserves another chance. If Edge gets the belt, then he'll almost assuredly drop it to Cena at Summerslam. In the popcorn match underneath the real main event of Shawn and Hunter vs. The McMahons.
  11. Here some numbers for Cena's segments on Raw earlier this year. Feel free to accept or denounce them at your leisure. 4/17: Cena vs. Edge vs. HHH gained 748,000 4/24: Cena vs. Edge vs. HHH gained 1,280,000 viewers 5/1: Cena vs. Kenny gained 1,088,000 viewers 5/8: Cena and Michaels vs. Spirit Squad gained 823,000 viewers 5/15: Cena and RVD vs. HHH, Benjamin and Masters gained 610,000 viewers
  12. Look past the overall rating and examine the segment numbers. Cena was the champ when his tag match against Edge spiked the rating by 630,000. His segments draw.
  13. I just hope it's an Elimination Fatal 4 Way rather than that sudden death crap WWE loves. I think if it is the first pinfall wins, then Cena will beat Van Dam. In fact, whatever the rules I think it'll end with Cena beating Van Dam.
  14. The week before.
  15. Checking up, the joint highest rated segment of the year on Raw (along with the 6/5 segment where HHH had to kiss Vince's ass) was Cena vs. Edge the day after the Rumble title change, and it was a 5.3.
  16. I don't have the exact numbers at hand, but I believe Cena's segments draw in the viewers, and are usually pretty high.
  17. Where is the proof of this? It's an honest question... I don't subscribe to the Observer anymore and so I can't really keep up with the numbers, but it doesn't seem like he has set the world on fire as a main-eventer. Do shows that he headlines draw better buyrates than those that he does not? Is show house attendance better for the Raw brand than the Smackdown brand? Are his segments routinely the highest rated on the show, regardless of whether or not he is in the main event? The answers to these questions should be a resounding yes, or else I am not sure there is a legitimate argument to him being a "draw." I posted this in the Vengeance thread after someone else questioned Cena being a draw:
  18. Nash going over Goldgerg was bad in that it should have been someone who could benefit who ended the streak and that it was done specifically to undercut Goldberg. Correctly built to and handled, with the right person doing it, ending Goldberg's streak wouldn't have been a bad thing. However, the timing and handling was done purely for ego, and it was a complete disaster. The streak should have ended at some point, but not then and certainly not at the hands of Nash.
  19. I think Cena's heat is so much more than "go away" heat. "GH" heat doesn't have the kind of passion and furore that Cena's heat has.
  20. Akira Hokuto Hokuto was probably a little below Manami in terms of talent but I think was a better personality and heel, so they're overall on equal footing. Their 1995 match, I think in August of that year, is still one of my favorite singles matches. Manami Toyota Toyota was a tremendous worker in her prime, but I don't think she got the praise she deserver, purely because she was female, and women's wrestling has, sadly, never received its due in the general wrestling community. Ayako Hamada I've not seen anything of Hamada, but that's something I'm looking to rectify, as I am interested to see what she can do. The Destroyer I've not seen a lot of The Destroyer, but what I have seen tells me he was a great worker and I wish I could see more. Koji Kanemoto Kanemoto is a natural heel. A great worker who can combine that with dickish mannerisms that make you scream for the babyface to kick his ass, Kanemoto is probably just below Liger when it comes to status in cruiserweight wrestling. Jushin Liger Liger is one of the pre-eminent cruiserweight wrestlers of all-time. At his peak, combined matwork and aerial moves to be one of the most exciting wrestlers of his day. Age and injuries slowed Liger down, and so he has had to rely more on psychology, timing and picking his spots, but that hasn’t made him less entertaining, just entertaining in a different way.
  21. Cena is a main eventer. And Jeff Jarrett can only dream of having the kind of heat Cena has. Cena draws.
  22. Ted DiBiase Curt Hennig Terry Taylor Jeff Hardy
  23. Tito Ortiz's current UFC contract includes a stipulation where, after his third fight, he gets a three three-minute round boxing match with Dana White.
