  1. If you're in it for long haul, you could start with Barnett's first Japan tv comp which has this listing:
  2. Puro DVD Source has a lot of current Japan stuff, but they can take their time in shipping. Bob Barnett has tons of Japanese stuff. He mostly has stuff from the mid 80s to a year or so ago. Ships the next day too.
  3. ICP need to OD on PCP. They are a complete and total waste of time.
  4. Justin doesn't get nearly enough credit around these parts for whatever reason. He's a very solid worker, can talk pretty well, and knows exactly how and when to bump. He deserves a shot in TNA.
  5. I dont think anyone is really going on and on about Jarrett's comment about him that much, are they? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you read the thread? There are a quite few. It doesn't matter how many people are talking about it, it's still gossip. And it's still NOT newsworthy. Why people still let the tabloid of wrestling form their opinions for them is beyond me. I never believe these types of "backstage argument" stories, it's always taken out of context or completely false. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're an uppity Jarrett mark. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It took you long enough to realise.
  6. They did three tag title changes in five days in June of 1993.
  7. He's effective in getting people to hate him; it's a natural ability. I just don't think it's the kind of heel heat that translates into drawing. It's like X-Pac heat.
  8. Homicide could be a huge breakout star if booked right. Give him free reign, and he can come across as a legit badass, but in a totally different way than someone like Samoa Joe.
  9. I have to call the 1995 CC my favorite. Kawada v Taue is one of the few matches I've rated at *****, with Misawa v Kobashi coming very close to that level with a match that I think may be their best ever singles match. Even though I have the CC 95 tape set, I've not yet seen the Misawa v Taue final, which is primarily because I'm not a fan of Taue, but I'll give it a look soon. I've got a tape All Japan TV that covers that CC, and there are some really great matches on it. I haven't seen it in a while, but I think I liked Misawa v Gordy the most, and it really is a shame that Gordy went down how he did, because he would have been a real asset to All Japan. For G1's, I'm a fan of most of them. My favorite is the 1996 G1, with 1998 close behind. My favorite G1 match is Choshu v Hashimoto from 1996, but Muto v Tenryu and Hashimoto v Tenryu from 1998 are both close behind.
  10. Borash and Mantell are tight with Jeff, and Mantell and Jerry Jarrett have worked together before too, so it goes without saying that both are looking out for Jeff. That wouldn't be a bad thing if pushing Jeff was good for business, but it isn't. I can believe this happened. And don't think Konnan wouldn't walk out. He would. Homicide being brought in would be a real test of TNA's booking team in terms of how hip and modern they are. If they can make Homicide come across as a legit street thug, that would add an edge to TNA that it needs.
  11. NWA Television: January until Clash of the Champions X - Part 1 I'm guessing some people might not like the glut of squash matches, but that's what made up the majority of television back then. There will be some feature matches here and there, usually on WCWSN, but the bulk of the stories on television will be done via interviews and promos as well as angles.
  12. Almost all of that crap was pure fantasy and never going to happen.
  13. Bret was the better wrestler. Shawn was the better showman.
  14. Their first match to air was at the Clash, but on a Worldwide just after they had a non-title match which Pillman and Austin won.
  15. The earlier Pillman/Austin v Steamboat/Douglas match was non-title, and it was before they had the matching tights and HB gimmick.
  16. Are you sure you're not thinking of Phil Hickerson?
  17. You might be an expert here, are there any WCW matches I forgot for Austin, I'm sure he had some good tag matches during the DA era in 1992 but I already had 2 Hollywood Blondes matches on there anyways. I included the Rhodes and Steamboat matches because I thought there were good and they always got good reviews. The Muta inclusion was me looking back and that was one of the few Austin singles matches I really could remember. I'm sure he had some gems on Saturday Night but I didn't follow WCW too closely at the time. I only have tapes of the PPV's so thats all I can go by. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was an Austin/Pillman v Steamboat and Douglas match from Worldwide in early 1993 that was really good. For singles you could add his TV title win over Barry Windham.
  18. I wouldn't use the KOTR 2001 Triple Threat, because it's not that good and it doesn't add a whole lot. I would use the Austin/HHH v Benoit/Jericho tag match. It's a really good match, the crowd are crazy, and it shows that Austin can work hot tag matches as well as hot singles matches. I wouldn't use the Three Stages Of Hell match either. It's very overrated, Austin loses, and it takes up too much time. It would be better served being on a Triple H DVD.
  19. Rick Rude was a tremendous heel, but he sucked as a babyface.
  20. How did Bret's vacation hurt HBK's title reign? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It left Shawn to carry things on his own, and he flopped.
  21. I would take out the following matches from that list of 31: +Great Muta Vs Stunning Steve Austin US Title (Spring Stampede 1994) +Marc Mero Vs Steve Austin (KOTR 1996) +Mankind Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin (Survivor Series 1998) +Triple H Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin 3 Stages of Hell (No Way Out 2001) +Booker T Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin First Blood (SD- 12/20/01) I'd also add his May 2001 SD match with Benoit.
  22. It's too much to expect a wrestler on prime time national television to be able to run the ropes properly? Are your standards really that low?
  23. Looks like I'm not missing out on much by putting him on ignore. As a showman Shawn was better than Bret, but when it came to wrestling Bret was better than Shawn. Both men had their flaws when it came to how they worked in the ring. It comes down to personal preference. If you wanted flashy showmanship then Shawn was the man for you. If you wanted credible wrestling then Bret was the man for you.
  24. New Japan and All Japan each have their own respective annual tournaments. In the past they've both been very important and prestigious, but in recent years they've fallen on hard times, and aren't seen in quite the light they once were. Nevertheless, each tournament has a great deal of history to it, with both having their share of classic matches. What have been your favorite tournaments? Which tournament do you most look forward to each year? What matches from either tournament have stood out over the years?
  25. Yes. Quite the braintrust they had in WCW to come up with a name like that.
