  1. From the Observer site.. This makes me and God smile.
  2. Just because it's different, doesn't make it good. They don't need to have a total blood feud to where they are at Funk/Flair 89 level right out of the gate, but they needed something. All this feud has is toilet humor. While I know this is WWE and toilet humor is a staple, it shouldn't be the focal point in the top program. As of right now, this feud has been built on Eddie getting fondled by a gay doctor and Batista stealing Eddie's fucking dinner. If you're into it, that's fine. I just wonder if this is the "money" way to going about a program with these two.
  3. What's hurting the show is the main event program has no issue. The two combatants are freaking friends for crying out loud. The match may be decent because of Eddie, but I have no desire to see it because they don't have ANY issues at all.
  4. Even my group of buds and fellow TSM'ers who chip in $5 for ppv's aren't going to for No Mercy. We'd rather watch football or do other things and save our money for a real ppv like BFG or Survivor Series. On paper, No Mercy looks better than GAB, but the promotion for it is worse than GAB.
  5. While this doesn't have as much to do with the buyrate, it does say something for the shittier than usual promotion for No Mercy... credit: wrestlingobserver.com I wonder if they'll blame Hurricane Rita for the poor attendance even though it's been a week and a half and barely touched Houston? (ppv is in Houston, TX)
  6. G Andre Miller Denver Nuggets
  7. 225,000, according to http://corporate.wwe.com/investors/documen...Drivers_037.pdf It'll go up some because that always happens with ppv numbers, but to go from 500,000+ buys for Summerslam to this has to be seen as a little disappointing. I shudder to think what No Mercy's buyrate will be since it has the shittiest promotion for a ppv I've seen in quite a long time.
  8. Although this was on camera and not a backstage thing, this reminded me of when Flair did this to Terry Funk right after their I Quit match on the Clash of Champions New York Knockout. Funk said he would shake Flair's hand if he made him quit and Flair gave him this sort of disrespectful shake.
  9. What, no love for the Rookie's game? It's an easier game, people.
  10. Well, if TNA ratings drop 50% in week 2 and then down to 75% in week 3, then I think we can realistically start comparing TNA to the XFL. Right now, I haven't heard of any ad problems because it's only week 1, Mike. You've got to give them a chance to fail first. And yes, I know what comes next, they already lost $25 million, they've already failed in the first 3 years. However, for the sake of this "restart", let's give them the benefit of the doubt until, say, Week 4-5?
  11. This would probrably never happen, but the dynamic of Jim Cornette as play by play and Paul Heyman as color commentator seems like it would click. If WWE is throwing around "insane" amounts of money, they might as well go with something that could be mildly entertaining. I could just imagine all the little snipes, insider snipes as well as flat out, that those two could come up with, yet since both men are so into pro wrestling they'd keep it somewhat professional. Cornette and Heyman. Make it happen, dammit.
  12. I have one question. What the hell is wrong with Jimmy Jacobs?
  13. I know Lawler can be different, but I don't think WWE wants him to be different. Whether Lawler wants to be different is insignificant because it's what the 'E' wants, and if they want a horny old man character instead of more of a straight analyst, then that's what Lawler is going to provide. Remember, WWE is into characters, not people.
  14. Actually Brian, there are qualified guys who would take probrably less money than what Goldberg was offered to work WWE. As far as knowing and not knowing for sure whether or not WWE is trying to stick it to UFC, no, I don't have concrete evidence. I don't have a recording of Vince saying so on tape or anything, but given the facts presented and knowing Vince's mindset for when he percieves a war, it's an educated guess. I'm positive 98% of the posters have posted similar arguments on other topics with even less evidence.
  15. Correct. He's doing it to fuck with the other company. UFC and/or TNA do not strike fear in Vince and WWE. At least not yet.
  16. WWE has got to be the only place where too much knowledge of their product will disqualify you from a job with them. They don't want their announcers to grow a brain and start thinking for themselves. What they want are either A) assurance that you won't crossover and not spew company line about whatever they want said. Lawler, JR, and Tazz could announce things differently, but they know who butters their bread and won't go there or B) someone who they can mold so that they become just like A. Cole and Coach come to mind.
  17. Unfortunately the first match is not a joke. Just dumb on all levels. The only thing I can think of is Piper and/or Orton sweet talked Vince into giving them a spot on a ppv.
  18. The Burger King 0wns. That is all.
  19. Selling ad time is a Spike thing. TNA doesn't get ad revenue because of the deal. TNA gets free TV and according to the latest Observer, Spike is also handling most of the production costs for the show. TNA will have to start seeing spikes in PPV buys and get revenue from the DVD's because, just like WWE, they aren't getting ad revenue from the TV show no matter what the rating is.
  20. Cool, it's before the season begins, so I can tinker with my current lineup and put in a rookie. I've got my eye on Chris Paul, Bogut, Marvin Williams, and Ike Diogu as possible buys before the season begins.
  21. Yes, but you can now catch Yang on ROH!
  22. Joy Giovanni. Not a wrestler, but missed none the less.
  23. Your best bet is to email Meltz and check his once a week mailbag for the answer. I've had several emails make the mailbag already.
  24. One of the shots did hit him in the face. I believe the caliber of gun used was like a Saturday Night special .22 or something along those lines.
