  1. Eh, Jack Evans is an upgrade from Red, but not by much. Probrably only half a notch. I've seen plenty of Evans matches where they came off as bad as bad Red matches. Evans would probrably make it to about Shark Boy/Sonjay Dutt level and not anything higher in TNA. His Gen Next partners (Aries and Strong) have much better potential.
  2. Red was the very definition of spot-monkey. While there are a handful of matches where he is "on", even with TNA's high spot X division style, he was too risky and too spotty. However, he could do the athletic oversell very well. Still, there is a lot more talent out there that is better and TNA needs to cut some fat anyways.
  3. Interesting, FBTG, very interesting. In all seriousness, good catch. I didn't really notice it until I heard the interview all the way through the second time. Obviously became my crutch word since I was a little nervous and all. I'm not trained you know! But I'll try to be mindful of this kind of thing from now on. That's my cruddy mic acting up. I still haven't ponied up the jack to get a good mic (or at least a new one from the old Aiwa karaoke mic I'm now using) Hopefully I can get a new mic and cut down on some of the static.
  4. Here is a picture of the new IWGP title belt for all you belt marks out there. Note to WWE, THAT is how a title belt should look. At least in my opinion. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/iwgphw093105.jpg
  5. Yeah, man, Happy Birthday. You're a good poster who "brings it" and I hope you stay around (and still listen to the DZ, there is a new one btw, go now!)
  6. I've honestly never heard of this guy. Very interesting name. Any match downloads of him anywhere?
  7. Bob is not an idiot. He may be stubborn, but he has strong opinions and always backs them up. Besides Jimmy Fallon and some of his biases for and against Hollywood starlets, he's a very stand up guy.
  8. You know, if the Red Sox take Two out of three from the Yanks and force a one game playoff, that game will take place monday night on ESPN. If that happens, on monday night you have a lot of TSM'ers watching TV for... Red Sox v Yankees playoff MNF Panthers v Packers Raw "Homecoming" 3 hour event Live UFC on Spike That's a lot to choke down.
  9. Man, after an extended abscence, I bring to you two shows within a week. 10. I'm back to being a casual baseball guy now that the A's decided to wither away and die instead of trying to make something happen the last 3 weeks, I'll be keeping an eye on this weekend for sure.
  11. Wow, Kenyon Martin is taking Bob Huggins job loss a little hard... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2176839 Report: Martin expresses displeasure at BearcatsESPN.com news services Kenyon Martin no longer wants to be affiliated with the University of Cincinnati because the school forced coach Bob Huggins to resign. The forward, one of only three players to have his number retired by the Bearcats, expressed his displeasure during a charity event honoring the coach Thursday night. Martin said he'd like to have his number un-retired and taken off the wall at the arena. "This is personal between me and the university," Martin said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "The way I feel, I want my name no longer affiliated with the University of Cincinnati. I would like them to take my jersey down and get rid of my locker and my trophies." Coaches Rick Pitino of Louisville, Tubby Smith of Kentucky, Bobby Lutz of Charlotte, and John Calipari of Memphis, as well as former players and fans attended the roast, which will benefit Huggins' Emanuel Center charity and the Salvation Army's Hurricane Katrina fund. Huggins thanked Cincinnati and its fans, and told the appreciative crowd he'll be back on the sidelines eventually. "I'm going to coach again," Huggins said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I don't have any idea where. I'm not one of those guys that's going to run around hoping someone gets fired. That's for sure. I've never lived my life that way. ... If the right opportunity comes, then we'll do it." His fellow coaches expect to see him there soon. "He'll be missed, but it will be the same way it went for Bob Knight when he left Indiana," Pitino said. "I think this will rejuvenate Bob [Huggins] and get him to sort of see where he wants to have his last stint coaching, where he wants it to be. Follow the teams, maybe do a little TV work. Get back into it the way he wants."
  12. Actually the steroid doctor that went to jail for "allegedly" providing WWF wrestlers with steroids called them "candies" saying "the boys need their candies". Hilarious. I like "candies" better.
  13. Batman Begins narrows out Ep III for me. I never thought of 40 YOV as a summer movie. It came out like the last week of the summer movie season and didn't benefit much from the summer movie crowd. But it was fantastic and a must have when the DVD comes out.
  14. I don't know who won, but I can tell you human decency lost big time.
  15. I believe he is referring to Vince's helping Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and the mysterious way his girlfriend was murdered. I know Vince helped him lawyer up and stuff, but am cloudy as to some of the other details. I know Snuka tried to kayfabe to the cops and act like he didn't speak english when they brought him in for questioning, that much I do know.
  16. Talk about rolling a guy under a bus. Geez.
  17. I'm there this friday. Saturday at the latest.
  18. Sort of. RFA's can go out and seek other deal's with other teams. If they find a team that gives them a deal they want, they sign an offer sheet. The team that the RFA is on then has 15 days to match that offer. If they match, the RFA stays with the team he's on. If they don't match, the RFA goes to the other team, however, the original team gets no compensation if they cut the RFA loose.
  19. Ranksuhhh right up thereuuhhh with thisuuhhh.
  20. No, he has confidence when he speaks and isn't uneasy like Benoit and Benjamin can get, it's that his actual God-given voice is like Michael Jackson. Paging Paul Heyman.
  21. Actually in regards to JR, I heard he, along with Benoit, refused to say anything bad about Bret while the interviewer tried to get Piper to say bad things about Bret with loaded questions and Piper started picking up on it. The others trashed him, HBK, HHH, and Hogan in particular.
  22. It's Hyperbole. Oxford Dictionary meaning: Excess, extravagance.
  23. Tom DeLay was indicted today http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/LegalCenter...tory?id=1166840 By LARRY MARGASAK Associated Press Writer The Associated Press WASHINGTON Sep 28, 2005 — A Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, forcing the House majority leader to temporarily relinquish his post. DeLay was accused of a criminal conspiracy along with two associates, John Colyandro, former executive director of a Texas political action committee formed by DeLay, and Jim Ellis, who heads DeLay's national political committee. "I have notified the speaker that I will temporarily step aside from my position as majority leader pursuant to rules of the House Republican Conference and the actions of the Travis County district attorney today," DeLay said. The White House, meanwhile, called DeLay a "good ally," and said President Bush still considered DeLay a friend and effective leader in Congress. GOP congressional officials said Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., will recommend that Rep. David Dreier of California step into those duties. Some of the duties may go to the GOP whip, Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri. The Republican rank and file may meet as early as Wednesday night to act on Hastert's recommendation. Criminal conspiracy is a state felony punishable by six months to two years in a state jail and a fine of up to $10,000. The potential two-year sentence forces DeLay to step down under House Republican rules. At the White House, press secretary Scott McClellan said the president still considers DeLay "a good ally, a leader who we have worked closely with to get things done for the American people." "I think the president's view is that we need to let the legal process work," McClellan said. Discuss.
  24. Ransome pretty much covered your first paragraph for me. I don't know about you, but does BIG TIME matches mean that even though you are the champion, you don't headline as a title match (see Bad Blood 2004) and even when your match is on top, your storyline (or lack thereof) takes a backseat to your top challenger's feud with a retard? Benoit's title win was good, but his reign was not. Cena and Batista's World title reign's have been handled way better. You are right about Benoit being past his prime. However, Benoit past his prime is still better in the ring than just about every person on the WWE roster except Eddie on some nights. My point is that the No Mercy card is hardly worth $35 of my money at this point. Most brand exclusive shows are that way to me. I have high expectations for my money.
  25. I liked Blaster Lashley better myself. Lashley has the look they like and because of that he'll probrably be protected well. (hence them having Dean work with him because Dean worked with him a lot in OVW and knows what will get over) Unless he becomes like Carlito, who showed zero charisma in OVW and then blossomed in the mic department once called up, they need to find Lashley a mouthpiece because his voice is the shits. Again, because of his size, he'll be given oppurtunity to get over.
