AMERICAN IDOl-SEASON 5: THE THREAD

Randy "grew to love" Katharine. Is this the same Randy who, during last season when a hot blonde with jugs got excited, he encouraged her to jump up and down? Maybe it's the wrong hair colour. -

Dude, the bearhug, the brock lock. Lesnar knows submissions. I won't get giddy until its on. Then I will get very giddy. Lesnar picks up things pretty easily, is a freak of an athlete, knows both the grind of professional wrestling and amateur wrestling. The problem comes mentally when he thinks MMA is going to be easy and doesn't train properly for it. If he surrounded himself with good guys that can push him, he may be able to prepare for it and perform well. -

The (Second) Greatest Angle Ever: Part 1
RavishingRickRudo posted a blog entry in I post on TSM and all I got was this lousy blog.
The Second Biggest Storyline Ever: UFC Invasion UFC, SPIKETV, and TNA have a synergistic relationship with each other. Currently, SPIKE has grouped TNA and UFC in the same television block on Thursday Nights, with the idea that there is a crossover fan that watches The Ultimate Fighter and will stay around to see Impact. The following storyline will take advantage of this relationship. See, this angle takes place directly after the TUF finale, which means UFC will not have any television aside from UFC Unleashed –which is a collection of fights that already happened- and the odd Ultimate Fight Night Live, so they are able to keep their name and face on TV on a regular basis. And TNA gets the rub off the UFC. Of course, UFC fans will probably hate it because Pro Wrestling would taint the sport, and TNA fans would hate it because they are not familiar with MMA. But I like this story, and it is a complete rip-off of the NWO invasion… which was a rip-off of the UWF-i/NJPW feud… and UWF-I was a fake shoot group whose head guy – Nobuhiko Takada – was the biggest star in PRIDE during its formative years, and UWF-I also produced one of the greatest fighters ever in Kazushi Sakuraba. The point? Well, there isn’t one… cept that things kinda have a way of coming full circle. In June, The Ultimate Fighter will be having its finale. The TUF 2 finale drew one of the highest ratings for the UFC with a 2.0 and the TUF 1 finale was the first time the UFC was on national television live and will be remembered for the amazing fight between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar. This is where the angle begins. The UFC likes to have a main event on the card, along with the two finals (Middleweight and Lightweight division finals). They like to feature interviews with celebrities and whatnot that are in attendance in regards to the main event. *On TUF 3 Finale* Joe Rogan: I’m here with Samoa Joe from TNA Impact, which will be following this show on SPIKETV at 11pm EST. Joe, how are you likin the fights tonight? Samoa Joe: It’s been a great night of fights, lots of action, I’m enjoyin it a lot. I’ve got a martial arts background myself, I like to incorporate some MMA stuff into my matches, so I’m havin a blast watching this stuff live. Joe Rogan: So who do you think is going to win between Fighter X and Fighter Y? Samoa Joe: Well, Fighter X is this. But Fighter Y is that. It doesn’t really matter, though, I could take them both out. Joe Rogan: You’ve got to be kidding me. Samoa Joe: Nah. Put them in a wrestling ring with me, and I’d have them tapping out in no time. Joe Rogan (with a bewildered look on his face): Ooook, Professional Wrestler Samoa Joe thinks he can beat Fighter X and Y, back to you Goldie. *later on* Joe Rogan: So Dana, we had TNA Pro Wrestler Samoa Joe on earlier saying he could beat both X and Y, what are you comments on this? Dana White: So what? That’s professional wrestling. It’s ridiculous. You will never see a UFC fighter in a TNA ring. That’s all that needs to be said on it. *On the TNA show after TUF 3 finale* Mike Tenay: Welcome everyone to TNA Impact, your 60 minute adrenaline rush *gets a feed from his headset* Uh huh. Uh huh. WHAT? Ladies and Gentlemen I have just been notified that DANA WHITE – President of the UFC – has just called our producers in response to the shocking comments Samoa Joe made on the live telecast that aired before this show and WILL BE HERE NEXT WEEK to directly and publicly address TNA management on this issue. Don West: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! THAT IS THE MOST AMAZING INCREDIBLE THING I HAVE EVER HEARD! DANA WHITE! PRESIDENT OF THE UFC! HERE IN THE IMPACT ZONE NEXT WEEK! *The next week* *First segment* *Dana White comes down to the ring, no music, or anything* *Mike Tenay is in the center of the ring* Mike Tenay: Ladies and Gentlemen, UFC president Dana White. Dana, word has it, you called SPIKETV offices immediately after Samoa Joes comments last week and demanded to be on TNA Impact this week to address those comments publicly. The good people at SPIKETV relayed the message to TNA management and producers who, because of the UFC’s relationship with SPIKE, would comply to your request. What do you want to say? Dana White: … Are you through?... Ok… *Grabs the mic* Now, last week, a wrestler by the name of Samoa Joe came on my television programming and basically insulted my fighters by saying he could take them in a match. Now, the UFC was gracious enough to put that guy on our live show to get over this television show and get exposed to a larger audience, and in return he decides to take advantage of our goodwill and start making open challenges. If you didn’t hear what I said last week, I will say it again tonight. There will not be a UFC fighter, under contract to us, that will be in any TNA match. Our fighters are not professional wrestlers. Our fighters are real. They really hit each other, they really get hurt. UFC is as real as it gets. So I am out here tonight looking for an apology from TNA management, who I assume are not wrestlers themselves and therefore have some brains in their heads and will know how important I am and how important the UFC is to SPIKETV and will come down here and give me that apology or else I’ll go right from this building, fly over to SPIKETV offices, and get this show taken off the air. So who the hell is in charge here? *Dixie Carter comes down* Don West: OH MY GOODNESS! DIXE CARTER! TNA PRESIDENT! I’VE ONLY SEEN HER BEHIND THE SCENES! NEVER INFRONT OF A CAMERA BEFORE! *Dixie steps into the ring* Dana White: So, uh, you’re the one I should be talking to. Dixie Carter: Yes. I am President of TNA Wrestling. Dana White: So you’re the one I should blame for what your wrestler said on my programming? First of all, I want that guy punished. I am holding him and I am holding YOU responsible for his insulting comments and I want some punishment laid down by TNA management. Dixie Carter: Well, first of all, I don’t really appreciate being called out here on national television. There are better ways, more professional ways, of handling things. Dana White: Well, I figured that since your guy decided to be unprofessional on my national television show, then I should return the favour. Dixie Carter: I see. And secondly, after considering your demands and your relationship with SPIKE, I think it would be appropriate to suspend Samoa Joe for 30 days. Dana White: 30 days? 30 days! You’re kidding me, right? That’s what I hate about professional wrestling. In the real world, if he were one of my guys, he’d be gone for 6 months. But in this fantasy world you have, 30 days is supposed to be enough punishment? I.. Dixie Carter: .. Dana… Dana White: Don’t interrupt me… I can’t believe this stuff is still popular. This is so stupid. I can’t believe this morons here in Florida come out and eat this stuff up. Well, on second thought, we ran a show here a few years ago and you morons couldn’t have been more useless, so maybe I can believe that you’d like this stuff. Dixie Carter: Now Dana. Dana White: I said SHUT UP. And you will keep your mouth shut if you know what’s good for you. Dana White: This stuff is so fake. 30 days? Ridiculous. Samoa Joe tapping out my guys. You’re in fantasy land. The UFC is real. The real deal. This? This is all pretend. No one really gets hurt. It’s all an act. It’s all.. *Jeff Jarrett sneaks up behind Dana White and as Dana turns around JJ hits him with a guitar. Knocking Dana out.* Don West: OH MY LORD JEFF JARRETT JUST NAILED DANA WHITE WITH A GUITAR!!! *The next week, after replaying the previous weeks attacks* Mike Tenay: UFC President Dana White has requested some SPIKE television time for a pre-taped announcement. Dana White: Last week I was viciously attacked by a TNA wrestler named Jeff Jarrett. Before that I said that no UFC fighter would appear on TNA television. But when I said that, it was strictly on a professional level. A guitar shot and 12 stitches later, and this has become personal. I could go to SPIKETV and get TNA yanked off the air, but instead, instead I want to humiliate TNA. Instead I will be sending two UFC stars next week to attend a TNA Impact show, sit front row in the audience, and if they happen to cause any trouble, then so be it. I feel bad for the security guards who try to stop them. *To Be Continued>>>* -
The (Second) Greatest Angle Ever: Part 1
RavishingRickRudo commented on RavishingRickRudo's blog entry in I post on TSM and all I got was this lousy blog.
People know wrestling is fake. They don't like to be reminded of it, yes, but in this scenario it is necessary for Evil Heel UFC Owner Dana White. Plus, he is saying what most MMA fans think about wrestling anyways and is probably close to his own opinions. Nash and Hall "shouldn't" have said that everyone in WCW was old, because it made WCW look insignificant, but it was necessary for the "shoot" and "reality" aspects of the angle. To come in and ignore that the UFC Guys Are Real Fighters angle is to ignore the whole point. And it's not like Dana White gets away with saying all that he is saying, the payback comes in the form of a guitar shot. -
Do we get a "To Be Continued" ??

It was a transition episode because it was a very small step from the previous episode. The last episode had Jack getting on a plane looking for the recording, and this episode had Jack finding the recording. Bill got taken into CTU, Chloe is still helping Jack, the Presidents wife is still keeping quiet but it going nuts, Novick is getting suspicious, Karen is helping Bill, Chloe, and Jack, The dirty rat is trying to get Karen fired - really, that was the biggest change in the episode. It wasn't an irrelevant show, but it was a show to get some things in place for later-on, rather than being an important piece in the puzzle. This was all hidden under the guise of Jack On A Plane. Don't get me wrong, transition episodes are necessary for the development of a serialized show, but when I was finished watching it I was like "Not a lot happened there", at least, relative to the rest of this season.

I love Historical Value. Yes, a K-1 fight list would be tremendous. Please, sir, I want some more. -
This defined transition episode, but it was fun nonetheless. Seeing Alvarez from Oz was great. Chloe with the taser was tremendously whacky. That woman don't fuck around. Jack on the plane was hilarious, if only for him being a totally exaggerated form of Jack Bauer.

Ortiz suffers broken leg, will fight Shamrock in July anyway - 4/28/2006 by Michael DiSanto Prefer Full Page Format? Click Here Talk about a rollercoaster ride. Moments ago, Tito Ortiz left the doctor’s office in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California and finally got the official word as to the extent of his myriad of injuries suffered before and during his fight with Forrest Griffin at UFC 59 back on April 15. He called InsideFighting to break the news. “The news is good and bad,” Ortiz told InsideFighting. “The good news is that my ACL is healing well. There are no serious tears. And my LCL is only stretched, so that will be fine, too. As for the bulging discs in my back, they’ve given me some anti-inflammatory pills and might go the route of a cortisone shot. That treatment plus some rest and I’ll be fine.” And the bad? “I suffered a broken leg when I checked a kick,” he admitted. “I fractured the fibula in my left leg. But the doctors said that it will be fully healed in four-to-six weeks.” Unfortunately, the injuries guarantee that Ortiz won’t be able to compete at UFC 61 on July 8. “I can’t fight in July because there won’t be enough time after my injuries heal to get into top shape,” he explained. “I would love for Zuffa to hold Ken Shamrock until August and let us fight at UFC 62. I’d definitely be ready to fight by then. But I know they won’t postpone the fight. They’re going to give him to Forrest Griffin instead.” In fact, UFC President Dana White already announced that he is going to substitute in Griffin for the injured Ortiz against Shamrock on July 8. So that begs the question: If Tito could play matchmaker, who would he choose to fight next? “I would prefer to fight Shamrock because there has been a ton of buildup for the fight,” he said. “It’s something that I’ve wanted for a long, long time. But Forrest is going to beat him in July and that will be the end of Ken Shamrock. That’s not all bad, though. I definitely want a rematch with Forrest so I can show the world how badly I’ll beat him when I’m healthy. So I want a rematch with Forrest Griffin in my next fight.” Fifteen minutes after receiving that call, Ortiz called InsideFighting back with a massive exclusive update. “It really came down to the fact that I’ll be 100 percent healed in four-to-six weeks and will have six weeks to train for Shamrock,” Ortiz said in a shocking revelation. That’s enough. I’ll be ready. I got home and decided that I don’t want to let the money go from a Shamrock fight, so I called Dana White and made his year. He was pumped when he heard that I’m willing to fight Shamrock on July 8, even though I have a broken leg. I just want to get back in there after the Griffin fight and give Shamrock a beating.” But the broken leg? “I’ll be ready,” he insisted. “I’ll let my leg heal and then will do my road work for six weeks and get into great shape. The broken leg isn’t as bad as a torn ACL would have been.” Needless to say, Ortiz sounded down and upset when InsideFighting spoke with him multiple times over the last few days. But he was completely upbeat and excited in this last conversation, one where he delivered the news with conviction and purpose. “This is the life of a fighter,” Ortiz laughed. “It’s an emotional rollercoaster. But I’m fighting Shamrock in July. I made my decision. I told Dana just a few minutes ago. It’s happening. What it really comes down to is being mentally strong. I’m excited. I really want to fight Shamrock. I don’t want to give that fight to Forrest, so I’m going to fight him no matter what.”

Cage fights a big hit 5,600 pack Forum for mixed martial arts ECC battles By MONTY MOSHER Sports Reporter Even for the venerable Halifax Forum, there’s a first time for everything. More than 5,600 fans packed the 76-year-old venue Saturday, the first fight sellout since wrestler Hulk Hogan came to town nearly two decades ago, for the Extreme Cage Combat mixed martial arts show, the first promotion of its type for Nova Scotia. Still banned in parts of North America, cage fighting — both grim and spectacular — has the power to attract and repel with equal force. But, on this night, the naysayers were nowhere to be found. The hoardes, mostly young men but far from exclusively so, arrived early, circling the arena more than an hour before the doors opened and more than two hours before the opening match. There were plenty of women, senior citizens, teenagers and, surprisingly, pre-teens. Co-promoter Peter Martell of Combat Productions looked like an expectant father who hadn’t slept in days. That’s because he hadn’t. As one would expect for a debut show, there were a few ragged ends, like getting the padding in the six-sided cage properly tied down. Dartmouth’s Martell had his head on a swivel, facing one barrage after another. "I’m so excited," the 38-year-old bar manager, gym operator and martial arts practitioner said through exhausted, bleary eyes. "The arena looks great, the cage looks great, the fighters look great. I hope this will be a great night and the first of many." With the power of one of North America’s fastest growing spectator sports — one that draws enormous television ratings — Martell figured he could bank on a big house. He was right. He already has tentative dates for a show in Moncton in June and another Halifax event in July. Peter, a 43-year-old Halifax resident, was the first in line to get through the front doors. Like many in the lineup that stretched the full length of Windsor Street to Young Street, he was sheepish about offering his full name. Other than his disapproval of the children awaiting entry, he said any concerns that cage fighting is inherently dangerous are overrated. "It’s not all bloodshed and bones breaking," he said. "You can look at it and admire their skills. I don’t think it’s any more violent than boxing or two guys fighting outside a bar. There’s risk in anything." Halifax’s Mark Kew, 23, attended with his fiancee, who did not want to talk. Kew has grown up on the Ultimate Fighting Championship series and simply sees the mixed martial arts as more interesting than boxing. "It’s a very controlled sport and the fighters accept the risks," he said. "They know what they are getting in to. It’s more multi-dimensional. Boxing isolates what a fighter can do. This provides a lot more diversity and the fights are a lot more exciting." There was a circus atmosphere — only with cage card girls, louder music and more blood. Fans raced to their $25 general seating while some looked for places to stand. There were glitches. The show was delayed for 30 minutes while authorization was received to park an ambulance in the building. But they roared as one, lapping up the fervor, when Nino Bezerra — a Brazilian by way of Montreal — entered to fight Ontario’s Dave Scholten. Before the first round was over, Bezerra was dazed on the floor, the night’s first big loser. They got louder still when Dartmouth’s Adam MacDonald battled Ontario’s Daniel Hardstaff. Hardstaff stopped the local in two gruelling rounds, leaving him exhausted on the dressing room floor with both eyes black and blue and his nose bloody. Pictou County’s Jason MacKay was the first local winner, stopping Ontario’s Mike Large on a third-round submission by guillotine choke. "That was a rush," he said, enjoying a great night in front of his friends and family. "The fans were great, win or lose. They cheered for everybody. But that was really intense." The biggest ovation of the night was for Fairview’s Roger Hollett, who triumphed in his pro debut. Hollett, the son for former Canadian middleweight boxing champ Ralph Hollett, forced Cape Breton-born Peter Rogers to tap out in the first round. In the main event, two-time UFC fighter Gideon Ray of Illinois lost a three-round unanimous decision to Nova Scotia-born Jason MacDonald. Ray gave away five inches to MacDonald, now living in Edmonton. MacDonald bled from a cut on his forehead and the match had to be halted in the second round to stop the bleeding. In other results, Ontario’s Bryan Edge beat Edmonton’s Corey Knapp (referee stoppage), Lake Echo’s Robert Colbourne defeated New Brunswick’s Matt Hatt (submission), Ontario’s Steve Vujnovic stopped Glace Bay’s Tony Lagnaro (submission), Ontario’s Ray Penny downed Sydney’s Chris Carroll (submission), Dartmouth’s T.J. Grant forced Halifax’s Mike Skinner to submit with an arm bar and Vancouver’s Garrett Davis won over Rowan Cunningham of Port Williams (submission).
