  1. Nobody could screw over enough people at once like Hoover did with the depression.
  2. Does this mean I'm in the clear?
  3. Hmm... Dubya's tough talk vs Teddy's big stick.
  4. Way to contribute to the discourse.
  5. All that stuff about Suzuki's wife killing the gimmick was later revealed elsewhere as bull. I think if SD wasn't so obviously a sinking ship right now, Eddie wouldn't be so upset. If they wanted to punish Angle for not taking care of himself again and again, they should have done it years ago. Main event NEEDS him right now.
  6. While I think it's pretty hard to say that WWII did nothing but bad, it did set a trend of the US being everybody else's garbageman, coming in to clean up whatever mess was made.
  7. Doesn't have the "shining city on the hill" line, which was the one I always liked.
  8. Ah, yes, Heritage. Making Reaganomics almost make sense.
  9. Seriously, I knew this was going to happen at some time. I figured though that he was going to insult Cuban people in Miami, though. But what happened instead was even worse.
  10. Kotz IDRM Lord Of The Curry Agent Of Oblivion Ripper FrozenBlockOfPiss KKK Thumbtack
  11. Someone wanna tell me what Slate did? If they had something up personally insulting, they don't now. Just a bunch of political stories.
  12. I don't mind. Look at the back of the case and you'll see if it has content download, scoreboards, or multiplayer. If you're not too inconvenienced to look at the front of the case, you ought to be able to see the back.
  13. Sonic Mega Collection for $15 at Circuit City. Nice sale.
  14. Didn't really pay too much attention to the playoffs until I heard the SJ Sharks made it pretty far and then got edged out by Calgary, but this has been rather exciting. The game tonight almost went on a little too long though.
  15. Oh hell, it's politics. Strom Thurmond hadn't even cooled before a number of us remarked about what a great example he made for term limits in the Senate. While I draw the line on disrespectful "I'm glad the guy's dead" kind of comments, disagreeing with their politics isn't a bad thing just because they're dead, especially in this day and age where every "important" death heralds a week long media event of packaged tributes and biographies.
  16. Goddamnit. Who will be my hero now that my hero is gone? Don't tell me the guy from "Grand Theft Auto" isn't real again.
  17. Because it's a religious thread, of course. But, to SP's credit, at least he spoke out against the people who hold grudges on Jews nowadays for things that happened in the Biblical ages, instead of just a denial of association. So for once, a good change.
  18. I never could get the wankfest for this man. Conservative domestic policy + record-breaking military budgets + ignorance of a rising national debt. However, he was far from the worst in terms of Presidents, and put a halt to Communism, so that was a decent eight years. Nobody should have to watch a family member deteriorate from Alzheimers, though. Happy trails.
  19. Divas (4) (...) Nidia (1) The jokes just write themselves.
  20. The sailors bit has been really really overdone. I always liked the "Have you seen a man in a black car?" bit but people have been catching on to that one, too. My new favorite Shenmue-ism is how he always calls that incident at the family dojo as "the day it rained."
  21. Give 'em credit for one thing: The Wall Of Sound (the giant collection of speakers, I mean. Not the album/label/whatever)
  22. VOD hasn't been rolled out in our area. I guess I'm going to have to scour the HD channels to see what movie network has the movies that most interest me once the Sopranos ends on Sunday. Still doesn't change my point about DVD vs PPV, at least for now anyway. 'Sides, it's not your guys' fault, it's IND's. I've otherwise actually been quite happy beyond the whole "Raw west coast delay" thing.
  23. Actually, INHD is a non-PPV network that's part of Digital Classic. I'm not looking for full HDTV. I just want letterboxed movies so I can blow up the image. Sure it won't look all that good, but movies are made in wide aspect ratios and more and more people are buying widescreen DVDs instead of pan & scan, more and more average consumers are finally figuring out that letterbox is better, etc. 'Sides, Rant, you were the person who eventually talked me into looking at HDTV. Well, you and Mark Cuban rambling about HDNet on MSNBC.
  24. I don't believe we have an actual HD PPV channel. If we do, I didn't know, as they are all titled iNPPV. Just KPIX (CBS), KNTV (NBC), KGO (ABC), KQED (PBS), ESPN, HBO and the others (which I guess I'm going to have to subscribe to for good looking movies from here on out), and two channels called INHD which seem to be the "Ooh, you own an HD set you lucky dog, here's National Geographic vistas to show your friends" channel. HD aside, I've become accustomed to letterbox. iNDemand seems to be catering to the crowd that's still buying full-screen DVDs.
  25. Well, I've got an HDTV now, and we have these coupons from Comcast for free PPVs, so we decided to watch Master And Commander tonight. Aside from all the trailers even after the "Feature Presentation" doo-hickey and the almost silent volume of the talking scenes, something stood out to me. "Wait a minute, this picture isn't right." Then I went to their site and clicked on FAQs. Well, bull. It's hard to complain with a free movie, but I wouldn't be paying for this on a regular basis. Blockbuster it is, I guess.
