  1. I can't decide that either. I'm angry because I know that this effectively ends any kind of season before it begins. I'm sad because I know that the only hockey that I'll be getting this winter will be on ESPN Classic. *sigh* No sports for me this winter. I'm angry because this is preventable. Lock the dumbfucks in a room with nothing but hot dogs and water and tell them that they aren't coming out until the matter is resolved. I'm sad because I'll miss the growth of key players in the NHL (Nash, Bergeron) This day sucks already.
  2. Let's start a parade for Bettman.
  3. SWEENEY~! Funny thing is that I never liked Sweeney until he signed with Dallas. In 94, I could run a game with Bourque. He was untouchable. Never played FPW, I always stuck with THQ's games for N64.
  4. I'd say that he's understandably pissed.
  5. I'd believe top three, even.
  6. Oates. Raycroft is too good positionally to be a Jim Carey.
  7. I'm better at 94 myself. It got to the point where I could win with my absolute worst players against the All-Star teams, and do so in convincing fashion. And Razor is Raycroft's nickname. DiPietro doesn't get a cool nickname since (1) He plays for the Islanders and (2) He's from fucking WINTHROP, a waste of space city if I ever saw one.
  8. If I can get network going with my den and PS2, I'd be glad to fucking SMOKE you. Razor is a much better tender than DiPietro and Rolston will knock out your fucking teeth and pass all over your ass.
  9. Oh, I've been with EA since I can remember a hockey game that I had not being Blades of Steel, but for a cheaper price, you can't really go wrong. Aucoin: 86 DiPietro: 84 Peca: 83
  10. Want me to look them up? The game also has an edit option, so if you disagree, you can change it. They've also been pretty generous with ratings as I like Nick Boynton as much as anyone, but there's no way he's an overall 82...a 79 maybe.
  11. I've had nothing better to do, so I've been watching more than my fair share of Sportscenter and they haven't been covering it much at all. Should America lose, it'll get the same laughable treatment that hockey always gets on SC.
  12. Just played Colorado in my franchise with the Bruins. No problem, 4-2 on their home ice. How you beat Colorado is use speed to counter their slow defensemen. I played a passive game in the first period which led to me being outshot by 14 and staring a 2-0 deficit in the face. I cranked up the aggressiveness and sent my fastest forwards in. Normally, my lines are: 1: Knuble-Thornton-Murray 2: Rolston-Nylander-Samsonov 3: Zamuner-Axelsson-Daigle 4: Green-Dopita-Bergeron Instead of that, I jumbled them up, creating: 1: same 2: Bergeron-Rolston-Samsonov 3: Zamuner-Nylander-Daigle 4: Green-Dopita-Axelsson The extra speed and aggressiveness created by my 2 line resulted in Blake and Foote taking stupid penalties (which they tend to do anyway) allowing me to get my loaded power play units out. More speed on there with: PP1: Bergeron-Thornton-Samsonov D: Gonchar-Boynton PP2: Daigle-Rolston-Murray D: Salo-Liles I had something like 3 straight PP's and managed to tie it heading into the third, where I skated the Bergeron-Rolston-Samsonov line to death. They managed to get the winner (Bergeron from Rolston) and Thornton got the icer on an empty net. So, sorry about the long entry, but use your speed and be aggressive against them and Forsberg/Sakic can't hurt you. I can't wait to try this out against Detroit.
  13. You need to be famous to hit a tree when you're skiing.
  14. If you ever go skiing, I demand video of you careening off-course into an outhouse.
  15. Who would take a broken down Sosa? I can see a team being fucking dumb enough to take Alou, but I wouldn't take Sammy if he was covered in $100 bills.
  16. People will barely look up from their football preview books.
  17. I sure did.
  18. Especially since he's never going to get anywhere near anything like that in the NHL.
  19. He certainly did. While not a great pitcher, he did enjoy a fairly long and successful career. He's certainly got enough knowledge of the game to have room to talk. Regardless, if you make the same mistake over and over, I think people have a right to talk, whether they're a HOFer or never served a day of service for MLB. Oh, that wasn't what I was asking the question for. It was just a query more than anything. I think Alou is thinking about Steve Stone 24-7 now.
  20. Did Steve Stone play professionally?
  21. Two or three times, but I haven't seen it in years.
  22. Three Indians players got drunk on a boat and crashed into a dock. http://reds.enquirer.com/2003/03/20/indians20.html Steve Olin and Tim Crews died and Bob Ojeda barely lived.
  23. My top 5: 9-11 Len Bias Reggie Lewis Travis Roy Cleveland Indians boating accident
  24. No, you're misunderstanding. As bad as the Yankees have been, and as good as the Red Sox have been, New York is still in first. The Yankees don't have to be better than Boston from this point on. They can be as muct as a game and a half worse. The burden is on Boston to continue playing .800 baseball for the rest of the year. The Yankees just have to ride out the storm. The burden is always on the team or person that has to overtake someone else. What I'm saying is that with a lackluster rotation, the Yankees have more to be concerned about than "hanging on" as you put it, since it doesn't look like they can hang on. I guess that remains to be seen.
  25. See, you're ducking the question. How are they going to hold off a team that has lost just two games of their last 21? How are they going to do this without a formidable rotation and a tired bullpen? That's what I want to know. I'm happy with the Red Sox as a wild card team. They know that barring a SEVERE meltdown, they have that locked up. Now, they have their focus on the Yankees, with two series coming up. Their offense is clicking, their starting pitching is cruising, their bullpen has been solid, and defensively they've been excellent. I'm asking how the Yankees are going to hold off the Red Sox.
