Top 50 WWWF/WWF/WWE headliners
LessonInMachismo replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
DVD covers, posters, whatever...it was THE Wrestlemania graphic. The point still stands. Again, that is SuSe, not WM. -
Wham, Bam, Thank You, Ma'am.

I liked the last two. Lame names: World's Strongest Slam Unprettier (the original name, the Deprettyizer sounded better and fit the E&C gimmick) Showstopper (he stops himself?) Fame-Asser Pimp Drop What does everyone think of the Hollycaust? Some really cool names that could be used are: Hour of Judgement Shadowcaster Boston Massacre (maybe a new name for the FU?) Million Dollar Spot 420 Splash (maybe if RVD did a 450)

Word to the herd. I got pissed when they changed it.

Worst wrestling related conversationd you've heard
LessonInMachismo replied to Epic Reine's topic in General Wrestling
I have some really good (stupid) overheard comments and comments directed at me. "Randy Savage is a Hart. He is Bret and Owen's brother." (WTF?) "Chris Jericho did a gay gimmick and I didn't like it." (This person was thinking of Lenny Lane. They tell me no, it was Jericho) "Come on, guys, everyone knows that Triple H really isn't married to Stephanie! He is married to Chyna!" (This was in 2000) "Yeah, when they pull their shorts up, they're pulling out blood capsules." (Some dork in 5th grade in 1987) "ECW is different because they are really wrestling...they don't plan the winners and stuff." "The Undertaker really is a Devil-worshiper." -

If your name was AmericanGuitarist, you would have opened a can of whoopass. I am American, and I would have. What is it with Denny's and winos? I once went there late at night with an ex and her mom and stepdad. Her mom and stepdad were like ethnic Mexicans and her stepdad was worth some money and had the expensive cowboy hat and shit. Well, we sit down and then this weird liberal family comes in with a bum they had apparently picked up off the street to feed at Denny's. The bum was a Mexican, too. He orders some shit and then asks for a jalapeño. They bring him one and he turns and says to my ex's stepdad in a really strong Eddie Guerrero-type accent, "Heeeeeey, señor, wanna jalapeño??????" while holding this long, dripping pepper up in the air. The stepdad just says "NO!" and starts laughing his ass off. We start laughing, too, and the liberal family looks on in bewilderment. -

*Summerslam covers mean jack shit. Austin/Tyson/HBK were on the cover of XIV. The four ME players and their representatives were on the cover of 2000. Austin/Rock were on the cover of X7. Hogan/Rock on X8. And then...Hogan/Vince on XIX. Besides, the point was that apparently someone thought that pushing Vince and Hogan was more important than the WWE title match...to the point of putting them on the DVD cover. -
Perhaps this is why he was chosen to play Doink in his WM debut at X7. Was it actually Dinsmore who portrayed Doink at WrestleMania X-7? http://imdb.com/name/nm1214444/ If IMDb says it, it MUST be true! Seriously, watch the battle royal and see if it looks like him.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
LessonInMachismo replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
WCW did that all the time. Guys like Mike Enos, the Armstrongs, etc., would share music. Also...that avatar is from the clip I posted a while back. How do you make animated avatars from a clip? -
Brock got injured a few weeks before Survivor Series 2002, I think at a house show. It was in a match against Big Show, and it was a rib injury, possibly a break. They took the belt off of him due to both wanting to keep the WWE Title on house shows, and because they, for some reason, wanted to hurry up his face turn. Lesnar was wanting to work through the injury, but WWE wanted him to rest up, and kept him off house shows. Undertaker's last heel run didn't last long because it just didn't work. People didn't really want to boo him because of the nostalgia factor. Crash Holly was fired for disciplinary reasons, involving his drink problem. At one point back in 2000, he had passed out at an autograph session at WWF New York because of his drinking, and had been on perpetual thin ice ever since. Perhaps I am remembering incorrectly here, but wasn't the final nail in the coffin when he got fucked up at a party? Maybe at Stevie Richards' house? Or was that after the firing?

Hell, they are on the cover of the DVD. I really can't remember that far back, but maybe if Angle/Lesnar had been pushed harder -- to the point of eventually being on the cover of the DVD -- then the buyrate may have been jacked up a bit. I am of the opinion that no matter the people involved in a novelty match, wrestling fans would rather see two wrestlers go. As for your trivia win...what a joke that guy is. I happened to log on right after the first one several weeks back and I sent my e-mail within ten minutes (all correct answers). Strangely enough, the three winners the next week were all WO.com regulars. -
And in the first regular ECW on TNN, didn't they reveal that they raped her in her hospital bed? As an aside, do you think they will do something similar to Wrestlemania Rewinds to promote the PPV? Chances are, 95% of WWE fans haven't even heard of Masato Tanaka...they could show clips of him wrestling Taz (since Tazz is a face WWE fans know). Even the ECW guys that WWE fans do know could be shown doing ECW stuff. Hell, it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to go so far as to show some clips of matches on Velocity and Heat.

Interesting matches we've never seen/heard about
LessonInMachismo replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
Pretty much the very first match I ever saw was Steamboat vs. Muraco (w/ Mr. Fuji) on PrimeTime in late '86. I remember halfway through the match they put on their robes. Was it cold? -
It was the first Smackdown with the new "fist" set, right before Summerslam '01. I watched Summerslam 01 just two days ago, and there were no motion graphics. Forgive my ignorance and misunderstanding, but motion graphics?

The rules are simple. Someone randomly posts a quote and someone else quotes it in a reply and gets one guess per post. Posting two or more guesses is not allowed. Of course, some of the quotes will be paraphrased. I will begin. "To me, you or anyone in your family isn't worth TWO CENTS! So what do ya think about that?" (SLAP!)

I remember Shamrock being one of the only guys that wrestled that didn't have an armband on. I always wondered about that. My cousin owns a child care facility in Lodi, California and Shamrock used to bring his kids there. They said he was a really nice guy.

What does watching Smackdown have to do with London?

Remember the Kid Cam? WCW's answer to GTV?
-
It's probably on or was on the frontpage of every page you'd get searching "WWE" or "pro-wrestling" on google, and it got some decent chants on RAW last week, I wouldn't assume that the "general audience" is that ignorant That Raw was where? Where were the chants last night?

Good thing he wasn't the third man at BATB '96.

WWE 24/7 Recieves Clearance on Cox Cable
LessonInMachismo replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
Wow, this really sucks, all things considered. Cox is selling several of their service areas. My area is exempted. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?...gular&id=683012 Also, here is Cox's own release about 24/7...with locations. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?...ular&id=684229& -
I'm telling you, it's awesome. The dodo dying off is all a part of natural selection.
-
Is it me, or does Tanaka not really scream ECW? He came in to feud with Awesome and worked goofy hardcore matches where you no sell chair shots that in WWE would be a 100 count. Did he ever work for ECW in years past before the Awesome thing? Now that Credible and Mamaluke are in, they MUST book Impact Players vs. FBI.
-
Great ideas and comments all around. I guess it should die. I just like the idea of a pimp stable. And the song rocks.
