  1. More sad for the fact that Fitch is a top-level guy and if he can be made to sign that sends a message loud and clear to lower and mid-level guys to not even attempt this.
  2. Sherdog has updated their main page that UFC and Fitch's management team are "in talks" right now but won't say what the discussion pertains to.
  3. Randomness. Majority of fights on Unleashed are main card fights from a UFN or PPV but every so often they bust out undercard shit.
  4. I'll be up-front and say that BJ winning will not surprise me in the least. Fuck, when GSP fights I always think he's going to lose so that if it does happen I won't be so shocked and to me that's what good about this fight. Regardless of who you're cheering for I think even the most ardent BJ or GSP fans will admit that the other fighter has a shot.
  5. So I guess Wellisch agreed to the deal but UFC cut him anyways, Fitch suspects to "send a message to myself and others in the camp." That shit has mafia tactics written all over it.
  6. I for one would like to hear Jeff Goldblum's opinion on this matter.
  7. For once I was totally okay with the first snowfall of the year. I recently changed my transit route to work and the area my streetcar and subway goes around looked absolutely gorgeous with the snow.
  8. From what I've read Cain, Fitch and Wellisch are gone, Koscheck looks to be on the outs. So is Swick leaving AKA? Because that'd seem to be the only way to avoid the axe.
  9. The problem for WW's like Koscheck and Fitch is outside UFC there's Jake Shields and.......nobody. At least Cain would have challenges in the forms of Arlovski, Cro-Cop, Barnett, Bigfoot Silva and obviously Fedor. If this is true then his future is certainly the least-bleak of all.
  10. If some of the more dramatic rumors come true and UFC loses Fitch, Velasquez, Koscheck and Swick.....wow. That'd be insane. Only problem here is that nobody gives a shit about Sengoku, K1 wouldn't utilize any of the WW's, StrikeForce can't afford them, Elite is dead and Afflictions status is very much in question.
  11. I, as much as I'm a fan of MMA on free tv thought it was kind of a dick move to show the UFN in July opposite the Affliction card in a weak attempt to siphon off viewers from the PPV audience.
  12. I'm reading conflicting reports. Some say this is just over a video game. Others say that this is a deal where if anybody outside UFC were to use this persons name of likeness that UFC would get a cut, hence why I've read in some places that GSP's manager told him to turn down the deal (which, if true would explain Dana's shit-talking of said manager lately.)
  13. Uh...you mean Gabbo? *Epic Fail*
  14. Morals? Principles? Likely getting paid for a one-shot deal that in actuality would be a lifetime deal? I'm just guessing here.
  15. Because they have a show called UFC Unleashed where they show those prelims for free already?
  16. Congrats, you're about the billionth poster online to crack that joke and it wasn't funny the first time. This is FUCKED if it pans out.
  17. They could get a decent stable of ladies in WEC: Carano, Cyborg, Bazlyer, Kedzie, Kobald, Evinger. Too bad Tara LaRosa is under contract with the AFL but they'll probably fold before their first show. I'd hope they sign Sara Kaufman as she's been tearing it up North of the border and was supposed to have a fight on the Diaz/Alvarez card before Elite folded.
  18. About the grappling thing? Or the whole thing?
  19. I think it's been mentioned off-hand a few times but if it's confirmed we'll probably start an actual thread about as we've yet to have one strictly discussing female MMA.
  20. You're right, I should have used "evolved quicker" rather then possesing natural talent because GSP has been doing this for a shorter period of time then BJ and every single fight made leaps and bounds in terms of improvement. Was BJ a grappler before he turned to MMA?
  21. UFC 94 Akihiro Gono vs Jon Fitch
  22. His single with T-Pain about hittin' a fat chick while drunk is a guilty pleasure of mine right now. Video is fucking hilarious too.
  23. In regards to Sulu I read an interview with Tim Kring a while back that said we'll find out eventually about ihs power but it won't be for a while.
  24. I think that's a pretty debatable argument. You could argue the versatility of either fighter being greater all day, but it's not a hands down win for either guy. I don't think anyone would argue that BJ's jiu-jitsu will likely always be better than GSP, they're striking is comparable, and Georges' wrestling is superior. However, on the idea of "natural" talent, I don't see how you could not give BJ credit for being a Top 5 caliber fighter in TWO divisions. Whereas St. Pierre is among the biggest and strongest welterweights around, BJ has essentially been a chubby lightweight who fights at welterweight (or even middleweight and light heavyweight) on a whim. I'm doubtful GSP could be competitive with a Top 5 MW, personally. Weight jumping isn't NECESSARY for a fighter to be considered great, but to downplay the few who can do it with some success (Penn, Yamamoto, etc.) is doing them a disservice. I've never said that BJ isn't a top P4P fighter. IMO it's him, Fedor, Silva and GSP then there's a huge drop-off for the others.
  25. Your scouting of other members posts is mediocre at best. I have said on multiple occasions that GSP, if he were to lose to anybody that it would be BJ who would give him problems. Stop acting like I am somehow refusing to give Penn his props. Have he shown himself to be a serious prick on prior occasion? Not even debateable. Is he an extremely decorated fighter who's one of the best in the world? No doubt. If we're going by parallel victories GSP holds TWO over Hughes and though they were more drawn out the domination was none the less on par with anything BJ did in his fight. I was tempted not to mention how GSP destroyed Sherk way worse then BJ because that would indicate that GSP showed actual versatility in his fight with Sherk whereas BJ was content to throw jabs and hooks for almost four rounds whereas it took GSP a round and two minutes to showcase his dominance. But to answer your question I think while BJ was earning all of his pretty accomplishements GSP was doing........nothing? Kyokoshin Karate, maybe? I imagine that's what frustrates BJ more then anything. Somebody out there other then him took to doing this more naturally.
